I saw Jeff Mayweather ask around the Mayweather gym about this and got a pretty even response. I wasn't expecting that at all because those guys just usually pick the black guy haha.
This one is too close to call for me. You can be sure there won't be a KO or any KD's due to Joe Calslappy having the power of a small effeminate seal and Andre Ward hitting like a woman that just lost a divorce case so it would come down to a bunch of close rounds.
If I had to put money on it i's lean slightly towards Joe. If it was held in America Ward would be a favourite to get the decision.
What do you guys think?
I'm disgusted and embarrassed for all the fools and clowns who have been discrediting Ward's talent and accomplishments during this whole Kovalev thing.. Just look at this sh*t..
:pat::pat::pat:
RJJ stopped just 2 guys from 2004-2013, a total of 13 fights 2 stoppages. Ward hits harder, he's faster, more accurate, levels better than old man Jones.
lol anyone who picks calzagie are completly ret@rded. resume for resume ward has calzaghie BEAT easily. not only that the styles are all wrong for joe. old man hopkins fights in a similar style but ward is way way fresher higher work rate and younger wtf
Calzaghe is way too busy for Ward. Ward would also struggle to get in his dirty tactics against a guy who doesn't stop punching, inside and out.
Calzaghe UD.
This reminds me of Oscar vs Crawford. I think defense and fast hands win this one. Joe was a phenomenal fighter. I would favor him against a prime Hagler and Monzon.
I pick Joe on points. He throws about twice as many punches as Ward and he is just as smart as Ward and just as clever a boxer.Joe didn't need to hold his opponent to hit him cleanly. He used fast combinations that Ward can't match. Kovalev could knock Joe out but Ward doesn't have the power to hurt Joe.
Ward doesn't have the power to hurt Joe but Kabary Salem, Byron Mitchell, Hopkins, RJJ do despite having lesser power than Ward.
Believe it or not, Ward would be one of the biggest punchers on Calzaghe's resume. He's been put down and has struggled mightily against B and C level competition even in his prime.
Ward, wiiiide UD, a stoppage isn't out of the question either.
Joe possesses nothing Ward can't handle, he'd be made to look sloppy and amateurish. Wouldn't be able to handle Ward's body jab and would get mauled inside.

I believe that it would be close in the first 6 rounds but Ward will adapt better in the second half of the fight and cruise to a UD decision.
Ward would neutralize him like he did to Froch. Not saying Joe isn't going to be competitive but Ward just rises to the occasion like he did during the super 6 tourney.
