the torch passing similarities are definitely here. the old legend, who in the absence of the guy that beat them in 2015, are still seen as the best in the given division depite being around 40ish with a younger lion who still need a bigger/defining win to solidify their accolades.
a win over said legend throws them to the top, but does the same new-king status happen to TC in beating Pac as AJ beating wlad.
and for both of them the question would always be, can they beat the guy who made their main win look silly back in 2015, could aj beat fury if he came back, could TC beat Floyd if he came back.
neither might get chance to try (TC almost 100% won't) but in parallel again, both those guys are eyeing 2017 returns to the ring, and wlad and Pac both want rematches of their 2015 defeats
Cleaner, it took JMM 4 fights to get the KO. JMM is a master technician with years and years of experience and Nacho and team in his corner. I ain't saying Bud can't KO Pac, I am just pointing out it took JMM 4 fights to catch Pac with that monster shot.
Everybody has size on Manny. Hell he fought Margs and Cotto.
If the fight happens, Bud will need to move to 147. Fighting Pac for your first foray in to the 147 weight class is not very smart. Get some fights at 147 with true welters and then call him out. I may be too late but at least you are throwing caution to the wind. If Pac loses and/or retires before Bud warms up at 147, there will be other big fights for him.
Don't rush in, you are still a young'un, go slow. The big money fights will be there.
true, but the JMM KO was 5 years ago, and I thought they'd be looking to make the fight at 140.
It all depends on how he performs.
If he dominates (8 rounds to 4) or a knockout, it's a HUGE win.
If it's a close fight, people will just say he's another Timothy Bradley.

I don't feel like getting acclimated to size will make bud any more prepared for manny. Manny has proven that he can hit people flush and not shake them for the last several years now.
If bud wants to win he will do so because of skill and not because he's too small. Hell manny is a small framed dude himself. If he feels his skills outweigh mannys then he should go for the fight. I've seen manny lose a step or three over the past several years and bud is as sharp as they come. Yeah he can be dragged into a war, but he's sharp and I feel like if Diaz came in 162 for Saturday's fight, then Bud can handle legit sized welters.
I think Bud needs some fights against true 147ers. Then we can see how he handles the power. 140 to 147 is no joke. Even a fighter as skilled and big as Bud needs to get in there with true welters and see how he handles the upper weight.
i think crawford at least has the skill, size and power to beat manny by ko, we've seen pac put to sleep by JMM, it's do-able

I agree in th business sense definitely, the glamour division will garner more revenue, but I just mean in terms of respect from knowledgeable boxing fans, would tc beating pac answer questions that people still have of him in the way aj-wlad did.
Ah ok well then yeah, it would be just as important if not even more so.
If he beat Manny it would raise his profile significantly and make his purse's bigger. Would it elevate him the way beating Wlad did Joshua, I don't think so?
No. AJs position at heavyweight is more glamorous than undersized guys at 147.

Manny is younger and still a current champ and top 10 p4p fighter.............MUCH BIGGER WIN
I agree
Also people forget that Wlad came off a loss and his worst performance in 10 years. People act as If the Fury fight never happened...
first off crawford would not beat pac like that.. lol.. jokes bruh

Man people gas manny. Itd be a good win, but I think it'd be expected and I'm almost certain crooked bob doesn't want his cash cow to go out in unlegendary fashion.
Current Pacquiao is better than Current Wlad. And still a top 5 fighter in the World.
Not really, that Wlad who fought Joshua was an entire different guy, he had energy was throwing the most punches he ever thrown and was going for the KO. He was not tentative at all, that Wlad was the best Wlad we ever seen in a long time.
This Pacquiao is washed up man, look at his last fights can barely pull the trigger, he drops a guy and doesnt go for the kill anymore. He is slower and his tank is not the same.
Well AJ has a huge following in UK even before that Wlad fight.
Crawford beating Pacquiao is a passing of the torch fight for sure but thats only if Pacquiao gets past Horn.
Will Crawford get the type of backing though, we saw Bradley beat Pacquiao and his hometown tried to kill him he had to hide and was getting dirty looks in Palm Springs so the power didnt transfer over to Timmy.
Its hard to tell man, you have to be marketable, Pac had that lovable goofy childlike personality but a ferocity in the ring that people loved, Crawford is being more personable plus if he fights like he did Diaz and Gamboa and beats Pacman in that type of fashion with a devastating blitz KO he will def make a name, if he stinks the joint out like in the Postol fight he will not gain a name casuals have to be given a reason to tune in.
This is entertainment business too thats how you make money.
If Crawford does manage to unify the whole division with an indongo fight next, then I'd imagine he'd fight Manny at 140? Plus if he did have the ibf by then, he'd have to do that same-day no more than 10lbs weigh in.
A win over Manny should actually be seen as even better than what AJ did to wlad, and I'm a big AJ fan since his early amateur days
