he didnt look so skilled to me against mayweather, lara or even the first few rounds against khan....
For two rounds against Khan if that. Canelo outboxed, outlanded, and KOd him after that.
And it's Floyd Mayweather. Arguably the best fighter of his time. A 22 year old getting outboxed by Floyd isn't some knock on Canelo.
He also beat Lara and had Lara not just on the backfoot but full retreat. Fact is..he actually fought these people and GGG hasn't fought that type of competition. Who looks good against Lara? It's impossible with his style unless you put him to sleep.
That's like saying GGG didn't look so hot in moments against Brook or other fighters.
In all honesty it speaks a lot about a person who can't admit Canelo has real skills. I may not be his biggest fan but I'm also not delusional. Even if I sometimes lean more towards GGG at times it's a weird situation. GGG isn't the best fighter Canelo has fought but Canelo is BY FAR the best GGG will have faced. Lately I've been leaning more towards Canelo because of the style clash. GGG may not be as defensively sound or have the reflexes, hand speed, etc but he has heavy hands and knows how to apply his offense. Is GGG's application of his offense enough to overcome Canelo's combination of defense, offense, agressive counter punching and will/supreme confidence? Confidence and will got Danny Jacobs far against GGG who's used to guys wilting. Canelo will not run and actually hopes GGG comes straight him. We see him come forward a lot but Canelo is actually even better fighting off the backfoot and ropes. He's a true and true counter puncher.
This is going to be a freakishly intense fight.
Disagree Golovkin is clearly more skilled and talented than Canelo plus has a higher ring IQ.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. No point in saying "Based off which performances and against who?"
Canelo has seemed to be more dynamic to me. I feel GGG is at a stylistic disadvantage. If I were to lean towards GGG it's strictly based off his power and Canelo's inability to take it. To me this is a pick em fight. GGG's power and being able to apply it is not to be understated...but if I make a list of what each can do I feel Canelo can do more and neutralize more.

this
nobody ever said canelo was more skilled than GGG except for the guy in this thread, that's just ridiculous
Golovkin can be reasonably responsible defenfinsevly when he chooses to be. The problem is his offense suffers when he fights that way. It will be interesting to see how he approaches this fight. If Canelo can't get his attention early he will open up and we will see a fun fight. I think Canelo has good pop but he doesn't carry power like Jacobs that made Golovkin tenetive.
Canelo is a counter puncher. I doubt he'll have trouble landing on GGG coming in. Literally the only reason we think GGG beats Canelo is because we think Canelo can't take the punishment over 12... not because GGG is more skilled. Canelo is clearly the more skilled of the two. GGG seems solid but there are only so many sharp counters he'll be able to take coming in by a good puncher before we see him hurt. I wouldnt be surprised at all if GGG goes down vs Canelo. The difference in handspeed and reaction time is significant. This fight is a toss up.
