Wlad has been slipping after haye fight a d hgasnt looked that good four a good few fights now culminating in a loss to fury.
For josh wkad may have been the best he can possibly be now but still dropped a bit from prime
Wlad made sure he was as good as he can be cois he lost to fury and he was underdog for once
Anybody who says Wlad was "prime" or "the best he has ever looked" at 41 years old is either delusional or shilling for Anthony Joshua and trying to imply that Joshua is the superior fighter. He's been out of his prime for at least 5 years.
If Wlad is prime at 41 years old, Rocky Marciano is the #1 heavyweight of all time for knocking out peak 38 year old Joe Louis and Trevor Berbick is #2 of all time for knocking out prime 39 year old Muhammad Ali.
Prime experience perhaps, but physically you can't do in your 40s what you did 10 years before.
That said, the fight was there for Wladimir to win. He reverted to type and became over-cautious instead of setting about Joshua when he had him on queer street. That's the thing that will stop him from retiring.
Look, I have insulted Wlad plenty in the past. Stylistically, he isn't my cup of tea, but I have nothing but respect for him after that fight. He showed fighting spirit that I never thought he had.
It's ridiculous to think that Klitschko is still at his peak / in his prime. At 41 years old a fighter doesn't have the same reflexes and stamina that they have at 30. Watch and see what AJ and Wilder look like at 41 years old....that will clear this confusion up pretty handily.
I don't think so; if Klitschko had got blasted with those shots from the 5th round, i'm not sure he would've had the fortitude to bite down and work through the turmoil.
The Klitschko who fought Samuel Peter the first time, would've got throttled by Anthony Joshua.
Completely disagree with this.
Physically probably 80%. He's not completely shot because like Hopkins, he's always taken care of his body, doesn't get fat between fights or eat junk. He will age well.
However I think he was intentionally less cautious than usual because he'd already lost his belts to Fury, has nothing left to accomplish in the sport and just wanted to do some fan service. That was a big visible factor to me. There were times the most dominant Wlad -- lets say early 30s -- would have fought a much more boring fight but probably won it.
You can't twist it thius way.
That's like saying g Ali was nearer his PRI e than Larry Holmes when they fought.
You aren't near your prime after 60 fights. All wkad had was experience over josh.
To In sinuate josh isn't anywhere near his PRIme cannot be poriven. Josh needs to improve but nobody knows if he will. For all we know josh may never be the same after wlad fight.
Wlad was still losing to journeymen 45 fights in. His styles have changed throughout the years, this being the best.
AJ has 10 years of amateur and pro experience, it was barely 6 years ago he was getting stopped in the amateurs.
Wlad has 30 years of experience, that's pretty significant, he's learned a lot about himself and gained all sorts of intangibles over the years.
It was experience which kept Wlad in the fight and AJ's lack of it. He was dominating Wlad for the 1st 5, but wasn't pacing himself properly and got ****y after the knockdown. I guarantee you that will stay in his mind forever and he won't repeat those same rookie mistakes.
He had more heart in this fight than he's had in all his fights, but the tools were rusty. If he was as sharp as he was in the 00s AJ wouldn't have made it in the 6th.
100%, this was the perfect mix of defense and aggression. I'd actually say Joshua is much farther away from his prime than Wlad. sed.

A 100% Kilt jabs and grabs Joshua all night. How some clowns on this site think he can live with the likes of Lewis, Holyfield and Tyson, is hilarious.
Years removed from his prime, 41, coming off a shutout loss and had many of us calling him gunshy before the fight based on his last couple of fights. That was the best Wlad that he could muster for the fight but he is years removed from his prime. The fact that so many people are calling for his retirement should tell you how close to his prime he is. Two losses in a row and 41. Not Joshua's fault. He can only fight the Wlad that shows up, but he knocked out a shell. Anyone voting higher than 70% is a Brit lying to yourself or has never watched boxing before. He wasn't even that high. This poll is an embarrassment.
100%, this was the perfect mix of defense and aggression. I'd actually say Joshua is much farther away from his prime than Wlad. 6 years ago AJ was getting KO'd in the amateurs.
Young Wlad was really aggressive, but far too open getting KO'd by Sanders and the like.
The 07-13 version was way too defensive and would've gotten blown out of the water by AJ.
This version was defensive but not afraid to punish you, the best version. He became a lot more aggressive once Steward passed.
Wlad never had high punch output during his so called reign. The only time he had high punch output was during the late 90's and early mid 2000's.........but during those years he was also getting knocked out by Purrity Sanders and Brewster.
If 'Prime Wlad' was the years he cautiously jabbed and grabbed from 09-13? Joshua would have killed him. I actually think the Wlad who fought Joshua was the best Wlad I seen since maybe Ruslan. His timing wasn't off because he was old, his timing was off because Joshua actually managed to move around.
Also his power was still there, don't act like Prime Wlad would have gone in for the kill in the 6th. Young Wlad would still have let Joshua recover. It's what he do.
You are 100% correct.

I dont get whats funny, did wlad not look great? becuase i thought he did.
I think that speak volumes of Joshua to be honest....
I think alot of people just dont want to give full credit to joshua because they viewed him as a hype job. Wlad showed up to fight and looked great, joshua just was the better man and proved hes legit. Now the detractors just want to say wlad is past it when he clearly still a top guy in the HW division capable of beating anyone.
Wlad still looked in his prime to me even better. He damn near won and was about to win a decision.
