He's too heavy to be lasting which makes him look very very vulnerable when he gets hurt, the combination of him gassing and getting tagged just makes him look so lost.
Very good learning curve for him but he needs to cut his weight down & hopefully lose a bit of the muscle mass.
Aj at 240 would likely be sharper & be able to last a bit longer.
Can't wait for all these heavyweights to go at it
He needs to pick better shots when they're hurt too, take it to the body when they're covering up on the ropes & then to the head with short hooks that they don't see coming, his uppercut is the most effective punch he has.
pretty much, but that comes with experience.
The comparison isn't an exact one, but Wilder was clearly learning his craft, got to the Stiverne fight (where he had his hand fail him for the first time), and had to finally start showing real boxing craft.
His right hand is still the death blow, but he's shown an educated lead hand (jab/hooks to the head and body), the ability to fight on the inside, better defensive awareness/tactics, grit, shot placement, etc. he still goes into the wild stuff when he's simply looking to close out a fight, but he's developing his game.
Joshua will come back better for having had this fight.
Just looked & in Joshua's earlier fights he was weighing 16 stone 8lbs -16 stone 12. A stone lighter than he was for this fight, looked quicker on his feet at around the 17 mark or under.
He has a lot of bulk. He isnt out of shape but It doesnt look like he is in great boxing shape, im no expert on this but It would seem 10-15 lbs would make him lighter on his feet and extend his stamina.
Precisely, it looked draining carrying around the bulk, he looked heavy moving around. Wlad looked very quick & fluid, hopefully he learns from this & takes a similar approach, Wlad looked fine gas tank wise this fight but did gas a little in his earlier days so hopefully Josh can get it sorted too. The extra muscle he's been packing on isn't helping him.

Even at 240lbs that massive energy dump in the 5th round would've still had Joshua exhausted on his feet, tbh.
It's good that he knows now, but he should, in the future, wait until he has his opponent seriously in a world of hurt before dumping his load like that; doubt he'll get those two rounds to recover against the other giant heavyweights.

Winded, certainly.
However, a man of 240 or 250lbs is always going to look somewhat tired after 30+ minutes of tough, back and forth heavyweight boxing.
He looked slow for a couple of rounds after getting tagged by Whyte also. I don't think it's so much about weight, just takes a few minutes to recover from big, clean shots from other huge guys.
For a guy that size (who had been badly hurt) to be able to unload combinations like that in round 11 is pretty impressive.
He seems to take a long time to find his legs after taking a big shot but he weathered the storm & the comeback was insane, the stadium erupted when he started unloading in round 11, an absolute classic! Very glad I attended.
To me he looked very heavy & I felt like he was feeling it, we'll see what him & his coaches think is the right move though, hopefully he's back before December time.
245 would probably be optimal, who knows what any HW actually weighs at fight time?
He weighed 243 against breazeale & looked a bit lighter on his feet in that one, granted Breazeale wasn't anywhere near Wlads level but Josh just looked a bit faster on his feet
He gassed himself dropping Klitschko. That's why Wlad was able to come back and drop him in turn.
The size is a double edged thing. I don't know if he'd benefit from cutting 5 or 10lbs but he does look flat-footed and lacks fluidity/flexibility. Would that improve? Depends on him.
He was definitely getting a little winded, breathing heavy through his mouth, the weight (in my opinion) isn't necessarily a good thing, he'd still be powerful and strong at 240 and probably a little more mobile

Hard to say.
He wasn't gassed last night, he was hurt bad and it took a few rounds to recover. He looked fresh again by the 9th round and was throwing bombs in combination throughout the 11th.
A little lighter may be better, but I didn't think his weight had much of a negative impact at all.

I thought he came in heavier to impose his size. He didn't fight like the bigger man
I'd assumed the same but it seemed like a negative, for him to be even more effective next fight (if the rematch happens) Aj to be a little lighter, Work on being accurate and not wasting energy with the wild combos, take the centre of the ring (when he was on the front foot he was winning) & be aggressive from the start, Wlad didn't look too comfortable when he was being backed up and caught.
