Looking at it from the team Canelo POV, I think they see a guy who has lost his mojo and the last thing they want him to do is have a tune up fight and find it. I don't mind seeing a unification of all belts but just not with Saunders, not yet. If Khurt beats Saunders which I really hope he does, then i'd say the GGG/Canelo winner should fight the Khurt. GGG vs Saunders just seems so cheap. This is really Saunders fight to prove that he's legit, if he beats Khurt fair and square i'd respect a GGG/Canelo vs Saunders fight.
