Who will be the 2019 FIGHTER OF THE DECADE?

Honestly, right now I think it's clearly Floyd mayweather.. Floyd has wins over cotto, canelo, manny, maidana Andre Ward is 2nd with kovolev, froch, Dawson, canelo is 3rd with cotto, Lara, Kovolev is 4th with Hopkins, pascal, Wladimir had a chance with Haye, povetkin, if he could have added fury n Joshua or maybe wilder, he would be much closer to the top Honorable mentions: lomachencko, Crawford, Thurman, manny, golovkin

i think you are incorrect.The reason they didn't settle it in 09-10 was because Manny refused the fight over drug testing. But that I don't want to derail the thread. The similarity is they had a chance to settle things after the award was given. is it a perfect comparison, no, In 97 when Karl won the MYP but Jordan's team had a better record. Manny won the FOTD but Floyd had a better record, going undefeated while Manny lost and had a draw. Other similarities: Karl Malone has more pts than MJ same as manny has more titles in more divisions. Head up though Jordan and Floyd won. Karl is the 2nd best at his position, behind Tim, who is one of but not the greatest ever. Manny is 2nd in his generation behind Floyd, who is one of but not the best ever, Karl fans and MJ haters whine about the push off rather than pointing out how bad Karl played in the finals. Manny fans and Floyd haters whine about the IV rather than how poorly he fought. I think the similarities are startling. I'm not a fan of basketball but i know they award the MVP most valuable player yearly and it is very different to FOTD award which is every 10 years. You mean good record is being undefeated? lol then calzaghe should be the FOTD because he has more wins than floyd. pac record from 2001-2009 is amazing some say it's unbelievable. from ledwaba to dela hoya where he's always the underdog but he beat those guys with a jaw dropping performace while floyd is temporary retired. and floyd is the one who doesn't want the fight in 2010 because he's making his own new drug testing rules in boxing where nobody heard before.

There are almost 3 years left so it is impossible to know the right answer this early. You could only guess. I don't think a boxer has to be completely dominate for the full 10 years to win it. He only has to win lots of important fights and suffer few if any losses during much of the decade. My guess is there will be no standout clear winner with people split on which of several boxers deserves to win it.

It'll be whoever has the hottest next two years. People tend to forget the earlier half of the year. It's why Pac won. Floyd was retired while Pac had a monster run starting in 2007

He's accomplished so much in 3 years. He's faced several top notch names and dominated all but 1. He became a 2 weight world champion in less than 10 fights. He's constantly trying to prove himself against other top names and has the genuine hunger to be great. Again, all this in such a short time and he still has a few years left to rack up more impressive wins, display more talent and showcase his full arsenal. I can see him snatching the title. O.k. let's cut all the bulls**t out Ward is the decade fighter. Unless Floyd came back.

If Loma can get big fights and win them I would say he stands the biggest chance. Thurman, GGG, Canelo and Roman Gonzalez all have a shot as well. Lot can happen in 2 years.

pac had multiple wins over barrera and morales a win over marquez he destroyed de la hoya, hatton and cotto all while being the smaller man. he deserved it. I disagree and have listed the reason why I see it like Malone's MVP in a post to pasawakyo.

Pacquiao - if he beats Crawford, Mikey Garcia and one of the champions at welter Brook, Thurman or Porter. Golovkin - if he beats Canelo and Jacobs in rematch and stays undefeated. Crawford - if he becomes undisputed at 140 and beats Garcia, Loma and PAC. Lomachenko? Hell no! No chance at all.

I'd have to say it's probably Floyd at this point, Ward is in the running as is Canelo depending on if they can handle business for the next 2 years.

At the moment, it should be Mayweather: Mosley, Cotto, Canelo and Pacquiao; Guerrero, Ortiz, Maidana and Berto are not bad filler fights. It depends on who closes the decade off strong though. If Lomachenko moves up and beats Crawford, you'd have to figure that he'd win. If Crawford moves up and stamps his name in the WW division, you'd have to figure he'd win. Ward vs Kov winner going on to dominate their division. Pacquiao cleaning out the WW division (Thurman, Brook, Spence, and possibly Crawford) would make him take it. A lot can happen in 2 and a half years.

Its looking to me like there shouldnt be a fighter of the decade this decade. lol thats what I was going to say such a sad state of affairs Possible candidates: Pac - best wins over JMM, Bradley 3x and a massive Marg May - best wins over Cotto, Alvarez, Pac Martinez - best wins over Williams, Pavlik and Chavez Fury - best win over Wlad...depends on if he comes back Wlad - best wins over Haye, Povetkin and Pulev Cotto - best win Martinez Bradley - best wins Pac, JMM, Provo and Alexander Canelo - best wins Cotto, Trout and Lara I guess I could name a few more but just look at that list, some of those guys are retired, some are past their best and almost all of them are in their 30s.
