Hell, they support eastern euro guys more than they backed Kelly pavlik in the past....Joe smith today
The USA has great fighters from all races and backgrounds, yet white americans barely support their own race her or countrymen of different ethnic groups
Every other country seems to support their countrymen regardless of race, yet the US European(native born) Americans seem to have a love affair with Russians, Germans, Kazakhstan, etc
Why?
I am a white American and what country a boxer is from means nothing to me one way or the other. I don't like boxers any more or any less because they are a countryman of mine. I am a boxing fan and not a flag waver. I like boxers because of their fighting skills, their style, and their conduct in and out of the ring. That boxer could be Spence, an American, or GGG, a Russian. You sound like a black American who is pissed off because you think black American boxers should get more love from white American boxing fans and Russian boxers should get no love at all from any American boxing fans. This sounds like more of your boo hooing and complaining that Ward doesn't get the respect he is due.Did it ever occur to you that Ward's ugly, fan unfriendly style and not his race or nationality is why he is not more popular? Boxing is a sport and not politics. I root for the fighters I like and their race and nationality have nothing to do with that.
I can understand if you're from some small closely knit country the idea of patriotic loyalty in boxing.
The US is a melting pot experiment that completely changes cultures and political leanings every couple generations. Travelling through Europe and South Asia I noticed how neighboring countries had more in common with each different sides of town do in the US.
Your neighbors have jack **** in common with you and there's a decent chance they hate you.
If a normal white American fan pretended they have more in common with adrien broner than they do with a random bulgarian or ukranian then they'd be lying and you'd be laughing. They'd have more in common with a UFO.
110%, and I was rooting for Floyd against Pac, as did my Filipino-American wife. She may be Filipino-American, but she's extremely right-wing, America-first, all that. If someone asks her if she's Filipino, she snaps back "No, Im American".
Long story short, of course my wife and I rooted for Floyd and Chris Algeri against Manny Pac. Not even a judgement call. I also happen to be a big tennis fan. I root for all the Americans, especially Venus & Serena Williams.
But let me be 200% clear. Im glad Floyd kicked Manny's ass. THE MONEY TEAM!!!!! USA!!
Hello Freedom.
the problem is most eastern european fans aren't even from eastern europe. they are from america and canada . thats strictly RACE and nothing else.
look. i am a black mothaf*cka. i love lomachenko. golovkin is trash. kovalov is decent. i could give 3 f*cks about the skin of a boxer. as long as he's coming strong with the pain. u guys strictly go by race even though you aren't from that country. which makes it hilarious.......it's embarrassing.
Excellent post.
No one can deny skin colour has a part in selecting your favourite fighter as they resemble and thus identify with yourself, but other factors such as their fighting style, their public persona, who they know and what they do inside and outside the ring contribute to their popularity or lack of thereof as well.
Like Floyd, I found him arrogant and extremely egotistic following his career. Even now hes hogging the limelight from his own fighters; that alone should tell you a lot about the man.
But at the end of the day thats what makes boxing entertaining, its a shame Floyd is gone.
Um no. But 1 thing I do not tolerate is racism. I will let the moderators take it from here. Im done conversing with you. Buh-bye.:loser:
I'll see you at 7 11 :lol1:
Im not Indian, I am Indan-AMERICAN. Im a citizen of USA, not India. And India is part of Asia. My race is Asian-American. That is always the choice I select, on a form when they ask for race. Youre doing fine. Im flagging all your racist **** and u bout to be banned off this forum. *******.
You sound fragile as hell
Marone, u again? Yes Im a Hindu. And Indian-Americans are considered Asian-Americans, dumbass. When the census forms come out, I have to Check off the Asian-American "choice" for race. Last I Checked, India is part of Asia. And your personal attack is flagged. I hope they ban u. Idiot.
By the way, youre right. Im not "Asian". I'm Asian-AMERICAN".
You're not oriential you dumbass say ur Indian.
How do you know where my ancestors came from? My mother's side is Greek and Ukrainian; my father's side is English.
You may be embarrassed of your heritage and ancestry, but most people take pride in theirs.
You just can't accept the fact that Whites be whipping black ass on the reggie. DEAL WITH IT my melanated bruvvver! DEAL WITH IT!
idiot....95% of u have 0. ZERO connection with eastern europe.........enjoy the insecurities & pretending u have any connection with your fav fighter WHOOOOHAHAHAHA!
Not really true about Ali.. He had A LOT of Whites who didn't care for him because he ducked Vietnam, while other Americans made the sacrifice.
Most Whites were behind Frazier.
Later in life, Ali became a revered figure - long after his retirement. But during his career, I think you're a bit off on the average White-American viewing him like a "comic book hero."
Plenty of Whites did like him - because he resented the counterculture at such a turbulent time in America.
Ray Leonard, however, you're correct - White and Black Americans alike loved him.. Same with Roy Jones Jr. He's probably the last great American boxer to really capture the imagination of all Americans alike, race notwithstanding.
It was a generational (and political thing) when it came to Ali. Older, conservative whites didn't like him, but younger whites definitely did. And by the Foreman fight, man, absolutely everybody loved Ali.
Um, WTF? That personal attack has been flagged. My people? Im an American. Thats what my passport shows. Same with my wife. My parents might be from India, and her parents might be from Manila, but we are Americans and we're damn proud of it. I didnt build **** as a slave. Excuse me for being proud of my country. I will ALWAYS root for American Fighters (or American athletes in Olympics, or in any sport in general). ALWAYS. Germans root for German Fighters, Japanese root for Japanese FIghters, Mexicans root for Mexican Fighters, etc., etc., etc., so as an American, Naturally, I would root for an American. Not even a remote question about that.
Smh you ain't even Asian no wonder lol you Hindu biiitch
Fans can't just appreciate the talent of these fighters? It always got something to do with the race? A lot of you guys are bunch of retards here, these americans thinks everything revolves around races, well, considering your history I'm not even surprised. I could care less if white and black americans start some war between each other today, but I do have some respect for british fans, they always support their fighters and race or religion is not even a factor for them, Nas was muslim, but at the same time they're not trying to discredit fighters from other parts of the world. And a lot of you mother****ers think that supporting your kind = trying to discredit others but it's not how it works
It's the truth!
There's a black dude on here who reps Ancient Egypt as his avi! And blacks everywhere in America claim "WE WUZ KANGS" from Ancient Egypt!
They believe they are the descendants!
Do you deny this? Afrocentrist BS is the most cringeworthy, YET HILARIOUS shyte ever!
In boxing, people support who looks like them = period.
And yes - many Americans have Russian and Ukrainian heritage. Some to the point where they still have family they regularly visit there.
An insane and inaccurate supposition. Guys like Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard were like comic book heroes for black and white americans alike. Olympic heroes, gods. You had some critics of those guys also -- especially of Ali, from older americans, both black and white.
And I don't think many white americans rooted for any of Joe Loius's white opponents.
There's always going to be moron fans, some of whom only root for people of their own race. But that isn't everyone by a long stretch.

white americans and white canadians (such as freedom) are obsessed with eastern european fighters. they have lost all control LOL even though they know nothing about eastern europe. have never set foot on that part of the world.
