Honestly, I have. Plenty of times at that. I used to love Pac in his prime but his fans really turned me off. Same for Mayweather.
Currently I feel that way about GGG and Gonzalez. I like both fighters, I have bought both of their PPV's and watch their cards on HBO but I can't stand some of their fans. Not all of their audience is gone off the deep end, but the few that are make it difficult for me to speak positively about them on the forum. Even if I do hold them in high regard irl.
I used to be one of the biggest Rigondeaux fans around here. Hell, I bought his book a few years back and read it in one sitting because I was rather intrigued by El Chacal. Sadly, after several poor showings against clearly overmatched men and with his fanatics constantly praising him for "breaking faces", the guy's horrid attitude towards entertainment got tired and old quickly. His fans would take his crap, polish it, heat it up and tried to force feed everyone that crap and pass it off as some amazing, once in a lifetime performance :lol1: .
Oh well. I would still like to see Rigondeaux vs top names in or around his division. Same goes for Roman and GGG.
What about the rest of you? Have any fan bases turned you away from a fighter? Present or past?
They HATE that you are a fan of "one of theirs" because they try to project their putrid biases on everyone else. An example yesterday, I was talking about how much I love to watch Loma and how special a fighter he is and 10 posts later Beercules goes "if Loma was black he would be Skills favorite fighter" Uhhhhhh, hey moron if you just looked you would see HE IS MY FAVORITE FIGHTER.
It's sad to see smh.
Yea, it's clear that some have made up their minds and really aren't looking at the content of one's character. They're guessing your skin color and putting you on the enemy list. Which is, ironically, the exact accusation they're throwing out there.
Side note; WTF Beer? Lol. I'm guessing he was messing around because he's usually cool.
Oh, other side note; that Avi!!!! Damn! :fing02:
What I hate is lie. And over-exaggeration is a form of lie. This statement that "these GGG fanatics put down past greats to elevate GGG" is a blatant lie. Haters need this lie to justify their hate. It is this simple.
I actually used to like Kenny Rainford, but his fans are all delusional casuals
Kenny was a beast. I heard he retired from boxing and tried rapping for a while under the stage name of "Kenny West". Not sure how that turned out.
Aztekkas you need to post more. You are allowed to stay :usa2:
Gee... thanks :) Murrica! :usa2:

No. A fighter's fanbase has no bearing on if I like him or not. I like a lot of guys that like Wilder and ODH even though I personally do not like them. I am cool with a number of Manny fans even though we all know how I feel about him.
I can also separate a fighter from his fanbase and separate the fanbase into those that seem to actually be boxing fans that like him, or those that seem to like the fighter because he represents their political or social agenda.
So even if I don't like GGG or Kov, I can separate guys like King, Natas and j0zef from Jubei, Freedom, mlac, hype job, /// and bigdramshow.
There are fighters I like because I like them as boxers or the way they carry themselves--yet they have fans who are only their fans because of their race. I see a lot of so called fans, especially online, who will defend a fighter to the death strictly because they are the same race. To me, that's not a fan. It's ok to have some ethnic pride and cheer on a fighter from your home country or race, but not when you completely dismiss other fighters who aren't of the same race.
If you dislike a fighter because of his fans, then that makes you shallow. Or you spend too much time on forums and social media.
I don't even get the connection, not even in cases where the fighter's father is a jerk like Angel. I won't still be a fan even if Angel is truly an angel.
Thank you for illustrating exactly why it's hard to express my like for these guys on here.^
People frequently try to get some of us to dislike them. They create racial tensions with false flags. I've never shown a bias toward any race or nationality (I have a long, searchable post history that backs that up) but it won't stop people from being intentionally ignorant to the truth.
No matter how hard people try to make me hate those fighters I mentioned, I'll still like them. You guys will just have to live with it. Your racial segregation of fanbases isn't going to change me.

I'm going through it right now. I love GGG and Loma is my favorite fighter but, I argue with his "fans" more than I do with his haters. Trust me, if you were a fan of Floyd, or Roy, or Sweet Pea fan then you go on the "other side" to be a fan of GGG or Loma you see the rampant hypocrisy on these boards. It's almost amazing that people don't see, or choose to ignore how they bash a fighter for one thing then praise another fighter for doing the same exact thing.
I dislike ignorance. Fans of every fighter can be foolish. Like what has been said prior, I am a fan of boxing and when my guy has a poor showing I can admit it.
I was a big fan of Mayweather in his day but the remnants of his fanbase are a plague on online boxing discussion at this point
The Pacfans were worse but at least they ****ed off when he lost
You can add the Ward and Mayweather fan boys to that list as well, there all just as a bad as each other as far as i'm concerned
Says the Cotto fanboy? Loooooooooool.
No. I always make an effort to separate fighters from their fanbases. Fans do make it easier to dislike a fighter even more if you already don't like them.
If I judged fighters based on their fans, I would hate almost every top fighter in the world.
Golovkin is my favorite fighter, but I wouldn't even like him if I didn't disregard the stupid sh1t a lot of his idiot fans say.
There never really were any Ward fans until recent and they're mostly crossover fans who just have him on their list. If he loses to Kovalev, it'll go back to just a couple of us here being Ward fans.
Mayweather fans, I agree that some were intolerable (that 48 shyt is tired) but as I said before, I wasn't one of them so I never felt embarrassed. I respect the hell out of the guy's accomplishments but I'm not real fond of the person.
With some of the Ward, GGG, Kovalev fans there is a real undertone of racism at play and that's something I've got no time for personally. I had one Ward fan claiming I was part of 'the demographic' because I was critical of Ward for something. These 'fans' are all just as bad as each other. The GGG fans who defend him to the death and belittle past greats to make GGG look better really bug me. He is a very good fighter and i'm a fan but lets not pretend he has been destroying killers in the ring...
Mayweather was a great fighter but a horrible person, the fans trying to defend him no matter what he does and says come out of it looking very silly.
Another really annoying fan base is the Spence, some of those guys are deluded.
Most of Golovkin's fans are total idiots but I usually just scroll through their posts. There is only a handful of GGG fans who's posts I actually read.
Spence too, the kid might be the goods but according to his fans he already is and would murder anyone in his division.
I dislike Ward and absolutely hate his fanboys. You couldn't find a more hypocritical group of people even if you tried.
Pacquiao and Mayweather I like and respect (although I can't say I'm a fan of either) but hate their fanbases.
