this is a sport.
If you think that because a guy who is of your same ethnicity wins a fight agains a guy who is not of yours, makes your race better than someone else, you don't love this sport and you have issues. You are a small man.
We are all human in the end and everyone is the same, everyone!
Start loving the sport!
World Cup Soccer is a healthy example of ethnic pride and cheering on your countrymen. Boxing, to a lesser degree also delivers that spirit of national or ethnic pride, but with that comes an ugly side. Sometimes it is the fighters themselves who perpetuate it, like Floyd, Broner, Hopkins, who use race as a way to rally fans around them. Other times, it is fans who default to a fighter simply because of his race. Mayweather fans get to live vicariously through him and the image he portrays. Some of them love that Hopkins refused to be beat by a white boy, or will cheer or a black fighter at any cost.
There are whites who would rather cheer for Russian white fighters than black American fighters only because of their race. Mexicans will get behind their fighters and are loyal to a fault. British fans seem to be more inclined to get behind their countrymen regardless of race. They will back Hatton just as whole heartedly as they will Khan, Brook or Joshua.
In the end, I find that I cannot communicate with a so-called boxing fan whose only qualification as a fan is based upon race or ethnicity. They cannot talk boxing and they have a very antagonistic and confrontational approach to boxing discussions. It has come to the point where I see these fans who demonstrate loyalty to promoters and coaches now based upon race. They'd rather argue PPV numbers than discuss the skill of a fighter or intrigue of certain match ups based upon styles. Sad state of affairs we are in.
This guy doesn't like Eastern Europeans.
You will be hearing that one a lot.
I bet most of the posters saying that on here aren't even from Eastern Europe or have any ties
Not soccer/futbol?
Soccer you play to score but Boxing is different. Punches are thrown and life is on the line so as a fan, you passionately want your countryman to win the war.
It's the USA, what do you expect? When the media force feeds racism stories to the citizens on a constant basis, its normal that race will always be on someone's mind. I remember when they asked Morgan Freeman what he thought the best solution was to stop racism and he said "Stop talking about it", which couldnt be more true. I looked online the next day and saw like seven different articles bashing him and saying he was insensitive. Liberals are some of the most horrible, insufferable people in the US and they are the ones that are constantly race baiting. Get rid of the liberal mainstream media or reform it to the point where news is being reported by credible journalists, and the problem will likely go away, or at least wont be so big as it is today.
well again:
I love boxers, I love Tommy Hearns as much as I Love Durán.
I love Lewis as much as Foreman or Marciano.
I really wanted Mosley to win over DLH.
I do not care about race or anything like that because I was raised in an Island were people don't really care for that.
Mother is white as white can be coming from a family who came from where the Hammer of the Gods roar to Germany and to Spain and then to the Caribbean.
Father's ancestors came from Spain.
Wife is black.
WTF does people really think colors exist when it comes to humans, it doesn't , we are all one and the same and if you are a racist, you are only a very ignorant person.
As for the Kova calling people "monkeys" that doesn't mean chit. It is like people calling others "loco" down here in the Caribbean.
I have been here for at least 2 months now and I will be in tears when I get back to the USA because I see a place that is really segregated.
I have been in 25-30 countries and lived in 3.
When people talk on TV about freedom, let me tell you, we Americans don't know what freedom is, it is an illusion and makes me laugh because the only free thing in the USA is the Tampa, because women can do it all while using one.
I am done, but remember, we are all the same!
This guy doesn't like blacks
This guy doesn't like Pinoys
This guy doesn't like mexican
I get sick of the racist crap
This guy doesn't like Eastern Europeans.
You will be hearing that one a lot.
Exactly. So once again OP is just gonna have to deal with it. When we learn that this is the norm, we learn to deal with it. By now we should know the troll accounts. Engage them if you feel to have a banter. If not, ignore them.
Agree when certain guys start threads I don't even click on it because I know who is legit and who is just here for attention
Sure you're not.
Because it does fit your agenda?
I would love people to pick their boxers based on style but that's not how it is done and I have to deal with it. I enjoyed watching Loma fight and look forward to see him in future fights against fighters other people rate highly.
There's really nothing you can do about it. It's true, most of the debates here center around race. There are few of us who are able to call a spade a spade. I saw neither fighter won the Ward/Kov fight, for example. It's a draw, similar to how Carl Froch saw it when he rewatched it the second time. I picked and rooted for Jacobs to win, as another example. I like Broner, Peterson, Tureano Johnson, etc. I was also rooting for Hunter against Usyk last night. For some people it's automatic. I don't even have to read their posts everytime I come across their names. It's predictable. It's hardwired in their brains.
In general, fighters are liked/disliked because of their styles. And that is something some people are not prepared to accept.
Yeah, an some people truly have bad tastes lool
They also try to break fighters down into perfect little brackets, when it isnt that simple.
You got Kovalev who is russian but mostly lives in america and is trained by a black trainer. Who gives a chit if he called ward a monkey, I dont think he is going to the clan meeting after hes done with training every night.
Then they try to make it seem like every white republican is going to hate floyd. Hes said some nonsense here and there about being harder for black fighters to make money, despite being the wealthiest fighter in history (or one of them). But then hes a closet trump supporter and the media has tried to race bait him and came up empty every time they tried to get him to say bad things about white people or support black lives matter.
The fighters dont fit into these perfect little boxes of black/white agendas and neither do the fans because the real world doesnt work that way.
Good points, again.
I concur with this.
I think we should all just watch the sport and follow whomever we want to follow.
Race and nationality, you can do what you want with it, just be objective and do not follow someone just because they are of one or another color.

I am to wealthy to get used to anything I don't like. LOL.
What is bothering me and I think you are not getting my point is people who are not objective at all because of race or nationality.
I just want people to be more objective and look at the sport for what it is, a great beautiful sport.
If you are that wealthy, buy this forum and operate it the way you want to then.
I get what you are saying but you are not getting that there are troll accounts on here who enjoy riling up folks to get a kick out of it.
Post links to some of the post that you problems with.
I concur with this.

:lol1: This similar to people who you hear telling politicians to be honest and don't exaggerate their promises on the election campaign.
Honestly, most boxing forums or boxing section on a forum like Sherdog are inactive and doesn't draw much traffic but yeah the same idiots who troll here try to do the same on all boxing forums
