I'm talking about the George that threw cows instead of grilling them and the Mike that ate Michael Spinks in like 90 seconds. This is causing me lots of grief.
Except George will be throwing bombs too
Nothing Mike wouldn't be able to see coming. I don't doubt that Foreman could land something big but Mike's head movement would be too much for George
The prime Tyson was a hell of a fighter with very fast hands and great power in both hands. The Foreman who won the title from Frazier was also a real monster. The prime Foreman wasn't a 250 fatso. He actually weighed a few pounds less than Tyson at 215 to Tyson's 220. Foreman was 6ft. 4 inches to Tyson's 5ft. 11 inches and Foreman had a much longer reach.I think Foreman would win because he had very long hard left jab to go with his reach advantage. He hit slightly harder than Tyson and he took a punch better and had more heart.
Was thinking about this one yesterday. I think Mike lands more on George and gives him some scares, but Foreman can eat enough of those shots to give him time land a fight changing bomb on Tyson. Prime Tyson would come on hard, then start to grind after the explosiveness faded. Foreman stuns him in the 3rd.
Prime mike beats 70s foreman.. mike would get inside and drop bombs. Imagine foreman-lyles, but Tyson was much much more deadlier than lyles. Foreman would try and match Tyson bomb for bomb but would get wrecked in exchanges.
I think 90s foreman has a much better chance vs a prime Tyson. Has much better ring generalship and ring smarts, would fight under control, survive and weather the early storm by Tyson, wait for mike to slow down in the 2nd half, and look to lands some bombs on mike.
Not an easy pick. Frazier/Foreman is perhaps the best indication, except Tyson moved inside more suddenly and with bigger commitment than Smoking Joe who was much easier to hit. Tyson could cause problems for Foreman if he keeps up a sustained attack and doesnt' get frustrated. But Foreman can do more damage more quickly and end the fight.
Oh, and would Foreman be able to shove Tyson off him, the way he did to Frazier? Foreman really controlled the distance in that fight. It would be interesting to see how Tyson responds to that tactic. It doomed Frazier.
My heart says Tyson, but my mind says Foreman.
Tyson struggled with bigger taller guys and Foreman would be the biggest monster Tyson ever faced.
His only hope would be to use that head movement & counter Foreman and try to catch him with something.
The fight wouldn't last long as both tended to gas out.
That's a tough one, I don't think foreman would be intimidated like most of mikes opps tho and he was bigger so I would have to give the nod to foreman .
