He won 6 out of the last 7 rounds (6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12) Kovalev couldn't handle the body shots and the inside fighting, the second Ward makes it and inside fight it will be all over for Kovalev, we might even see a stoppage
SMH giving Ward Round 6 and 12......idiot.
Yeah, those were clear Kovalev. Clearer than any Ward round.
It's funny how a small minority have created a myth that this was a close and totally competitive fight.
Kovalev will win he's the better boxer with the better trainer and strategist in his corner. He'll neutralise that ugly ''inside fighting'' with the uppercut as he did vs Hopkins.
What can Virgin Hunter tell Ward?
Ward isn't the same fighter he was at 168 he's now a predominantly left handed fighter, a jabber & he don't have the better jab here, his footwork has slowed drastically. He's not the same fighter.
Kovalev takes it wide for me or stops him. I don't see what Ward does better this time, seen everything he had the first time and it just wasn't enough.
That's how I see it. First fight I couldn't make a pick because I had no clue how the styles would mesh. Kovalev, who wasn't at his best (hasn't been in the last 2-3 fights) had an easy time with him and even took rounds off. I expect he's regained an edge due to being robbed and should get the stoppage.
Ward could either A) know he's got the judges vote before and just survive again or B) feel he has a point to prove and fight more aggressive than normal (much like Pacquaio-Bradley II)

He was always only a one handed fighter. He just has incredible fight IQ that he still beats most with such limited offense.
When have you seen him hurt someone with his right hand? He even looks awkward throwing a right. Against most fighters Ward is great enough to win with only one hand but against an elite fighter like Kov he needs two good hands.
He barely won those rounds and that was most because Kovalev faded.
Kovalev needs to be more efficient with his energy and tweak some things such as not wrestling with Ward so much and he should be good.
Ward has a lot more adjustments to do. His lack of a right hand really hurt him in the 1st fight. I can't remember him landing a solid right hand.
I still have Kovalev by decision. Kovalev offensively has so much more to offer while his defense is good enough to avoid Wards limited offense.

The most rounds I had Ward winning was 6 at the most. I know everyone has their opinions on what happened in this fight. I had Kovalev winning 7 rounds or at the very least 6 rounds. So yeah I had Kovalev winning their first fight. We'll see what happens in the rematch. My prediction for the rematch is reserved for now. I'll wait until it gets closer to fight time.

Like the first fight this will be a battle of distances. Kovalev actually clinched very effectively the last fight so we will see how Ward will combat it.
I watched the first again today and still had Ward winning clearly (I think all the controversy caused me to think Kovalev did better than he actually did) but I don't think the rematch will be any easier for Ward. It was real hard for him to reach Kovalev, who has the width of an eagle. If Kovalev lets his hands go more he might even win it.
Right now, I'm predicting Ward by close decision, though that may change.
