Now that things are calmed down and people are a bit people are a bit more reasonable about fighters, how do you think GGG would have done against two of the past recent lineal Middleweight champions?
GGG knocks them both out in my opinion. Martinez has nothing but the highest praise for GGG and said about a year ago that GGG was by far the best middleweight,in a class by himself and much better than the rest. GGG's close fight with Jacobs surprised most of us but it doesn't turn GGG into a mediocre fighter. Sometimes a good fighter just has the right stuff to give a great champion more trouble than expected. Norton gave Ali much trouble. Ralph Jones easily beat Sugar Ray Robinson. Castillo and Maidana both gave Mayweather more trouble than expected.
GGG beats the Dogg piss outta Martinez... IMO
Vs. Pavlik would be the real fight here. Kelly at his best had that height, reach & great punching power. Let's create a fuggin time machine.

I think Golovkin stops Martinez. I think Pavlik is a tougher fight for him, because Pavlik moves forward, and may be able to move Golovkin back. I think a prime Pavlik beats Martinez too.
#FAKENEWS!!!!!
It was comments by Lou Dibella that made a lot of people feel Martinez was ducking GGG. He pretty much admitted it was the fight that needed to happen but that they would never seriously consider it because GGG was too much risk for the money. Too lazy to google.
Martinez would have probably taken the fight but Lou himself is a greasy duckmaster, perhaps the ultimate greasy duckmaster in the sport.
Cmooon he would beat both, im not completely sold on GGG but still he is a really good champ !
I was a fan of Pavlik back in the day, but he was limited, slow on his feet, and he didnt really used his reach, it would be fun while it lasted but i think ggg would destroy him.
Prime Martinez imo was at 154, he could give ggg problems with his movement but he does like to trade, he did it in most of his fights, and i dont think that would be a good idea for him against a GGG.
Still we will never know, fantasy match ups are always great to analize, would you imagine a Hagler vs GGG, pheeew that would be a hell of a fight IMO.
I think he beats both. Punch for punch he would break Pavlik down before Pavlik broke him down.
Martinez would be one of the few GGG opponents with no size advantage and his style of quickly moving in and out would play into GGG's which revolves around backing you into corners... Going with GGG again there.
Prime Martinez is exactly the type of fighter who will give GGG fits. Interesting match but I have to go with Martinez by clear UD. His movement, awkwardness, decent pop and speed are the key.
not even gonna analyze Martinez vs GGG because Martinez blatantly ducked him. nothing to talk about.
Pavlik vs GGG would be a war. one thing Pavlik was great at was 1-2's. he also applied pressure and threw hard combos. but GGG wont go anywhere. I say GGG wins a close decision.
beats pavlick. Martinez would frustrate him with movement early on but ggg eventually catches him and stops him. Martinez was coming up from 54, not a true MW.
Both men in their primes beat him.
Pavlik was a monstrous MW, people make a big deal about DJ being big, Pavlik had 2 inches in height and 2 inches in reach on him.
At 6'2 with a 75" reach Pavlik would dominate from the outside, lil g wouldn't be able to effectively land his jab. Pavlik would hold the center of the ring, maul ggg on the inside, he stops him. Prime Pavlik was relentless, he would've been too much for lil g.
I'd pick another 160 from Pavlik's time to beat him, prime Kassim Ouma who gave him all he could handle.
Martinez, we saw what DJ was able to do with his jab and angles. He picks him apart, busts his face up bad, golovkin is forced to reset each time he's hit. It'd be like Chavez Jr. all over again.
I'm not QUITE as sure about Martinez due to his sometimes shaky chin, but I see the Pavlik fight the same way. Dude's size, reach and power would really stifle GGG, and GGG would struggle to get in range. Dude grinds a decision over GGG most likely.

Golovkin would beat both. Pavlick wouldn't be able to impose his power as effectively as he often did because Golovkin is to defensively sound and he has his own power to counter Pavlick's. The reason Martinez beat Pavlick was because he used angles and good boxing technique. That wouldn't work with Golovkin. The GGG jab would would make both those opponents much less effective than they usually were.
He would break Martinez down and knock him out but would probably decision Pavlick ..., don't think he would KO Kelly, but possibly.so the reason maravilla beat pavlik was using angles and good boxing technique ,but that wouldnt work on ggg because of ggg's jab..didnt ggg almost lose to jacobs or lost to jacobs because he was using angles and boxing ..LOL

IDK about Pavlik to be honest, never really watched him BUT from what I seen these last 2 fights, GGG has trouble with handspeed so Id probably favor Martinez but not by much.
