People are calling him to move up for a long time now, but how would he fare at 168?
I think that he is not big enough for 168. He is perefect size MW and he is 35.
I still think he wins the titles at 168 but he wouldn't be as dominant?
DeGale - GGG would be a great fight.
Your thoughts?
I'm not sure if Canelo can make 154 after fighting at 164 next, but I'm pretty sure he could had done it again after Liam Smith. He should have faught Charlo at 154 instead of JCC Jr. If GGG still has fights left in him after handling all of his MW business after 1 or 2 years, maybe he could take 1 or 2 fights at 168, but I wouldn't care if he doesn't because 160 is clearly his best natural weight class.
For legacy reasons Charlo fight would make sense. Money? Lol wouldn't come close to a chavez fatboy fight.
Your logic is weird. Name the fighter that moved up to fight at a size disadvantage at 35. I'll give you a hint. Not Pac. Not Floyd.
floyd was 35 and 36 for his fights with cotto and canelo.
just lol
and as the other guy already pointed out, the obvious example is hopkins
we just seen what a large middleweight with even a suspected chin can do to him. no way he becomes the top guy at 168 even with ward out of the picture. anyone with a big reach over him and power to back him up and size to take his punches is going to give him a hard time.
No, and I can't see why people have called for it when he's obviously comfortable at making 160, even 2 days before the weigh in. They noted the ibf wasn't on the line for Jacobs as he didn't show up to the morning check weight.
Height was a problem for sure, not in the sense that ggg couldn't punch high, he can rip uppercuts, but the taller fighter calling foul play on his head because it's at or slightly under the guys chin. It's going to make the smaller fighter weary of catching a point or dq.
Narrow win for ggg there, I think Jacobs probs does well if he can stay at 160, but he's got a frame for 68 for sure

He's a "baseball bat" puncher at 160lbs; he's going to have to land flush a ton of times to earnestly put down middleweights.
at 168lbs, he likely doesn't hurt anyone in that top group of fighters at the weight (especially with most of the top guys cutting down from near 180lbs.
Badou Jack beats him if he stays there bigger, better version of Jacobs really.
DeGale and Groves are 50\50s. Zurdo boxes his ears off.
Callum Smith is no doubt just way too big.
Beats the rest.
He'd better stay away. His team also need to STFU about it.
Agree about this, but also think much of that is the response to people asking when is he moving.
Now we can all agree that he has some real competition at 160 and he can finish his legecy there.
Maybe move for one or two fights at 168 and that's it. If he beats Canelo, Sanders, Eubank and Jacobs in the rematch (+beat Hopkins record) he will have a very solid resume that is HOF worthy.
I used to think he beats DeGale handily but Chunky is getting more muscular and has great lateral movement (his best asset). If he can avoid the stamina lapses, he will circle/strike, circle/strike all night. Golovkin needs to plant his feet to make his magic work.
I always favoured James in that fight. I think DeGale is a very underrated fighter, but that's his own fault. He loses the focus for no good reason. However he does have a chin and I don't think that Gennady would be able to easly stop him even if he catch him.
I would favour GGG to beat Groves and to be a slight favourite against Rodriguez.
That's your view. Many (me included) don't share your view.
Keep watching him and enjoy. Ultimatly it doesn't matter how do we rank him. He will be included in HOF once he retires.
well the reality is certainly on my side. today we see how high lil g's ceiling are, how he react to frustating situation in touh tactical battle. the verdict is he's one dimensional, and i dont think he will improve since he already 35.
pacman was average sized FW at one time or average sized LW another time. doesn't stop him to fight 20 lbs heavier margarito at 150.
this, Mayweather fought at welterweight while only being 150 at fight night
Do you think he beats DeGale?
I said, before this fight, and was saying for sometime that I favour DeGale in that fight.

you mean pacman's in and out, 70+ punches/round, FOTY worth fighting style is not physical? :lol1: and what pac's speed connection to this topic??
ok then i wont use pac as example, i use floyd this time. how you counter that?
your logic is weird
