Seriously, it's making me sick now. Kovalev was supposed to KO Ward, destroy the shot black fighter and establish some sense of white dominance in boxing. All he managed to do, though, was to score a flash knockdown.
Seriously, Ward figured Kovalev out and was outboxing for the rest of the fight. He even hurt Kovalev to the point that Kovalev stuck his head out of the ropes to make the referee stop Ward (and don't make some **** up about Kovalev just letting Ward hit him and that he didn't hurt him, lol, like the guys who say Golovkin didn't get hurt when a Brook uppercut gave him jellylegs).
Some saw it differently and for the sake of argument, then let's agree that a case could be made for Kovalev... If Ward had just barely beat Kovalev, while Kovalev got a controversial decision, then no one would defend Ward or whine about him losing. It is extremely obvious.
Ward won that fight. And he knows Kovalev better now. He has him figured out better than last time and if a knockout happens in the rematch, then it's Kovalev who gets knocked out. He will never get close to scoring a knockdown against Ward again and you all know it. Kovalev has never been much of a technician and he can't adept to Ward's skill level.
Will the Kovalev fanboys please just stop whining? And please, please don't start claiming "1-1!" when Ward wins the rematch. If he has to beat Kovalev 3 times, then you're not doing Kovalev any favours at all...
Yes, and close fights are nearly always controversial because people are split as to who has won. In this case, its a result that doesn't reflect an inconclusive fight.
So, let me know what evidence you have showing the result isn't as controversial as people make out. I think thats an impossible taskThe fight was a subjective one to score. Kovalev should have won a very close fight but it wasn't a robbery, to the point of it being a landslide or dominating victory by "The Krusher".
I admit that the judges were a bit biased for Ward because there were several close rounds that could have gone either way and they scored then all for Andre. Had the fight have taken place on neutral ground or in Kovalev's home country and with foreign judges, perhaps the outcome would have been a lot different.
However, there is really not a right or wrong answer as to whoever won this fight. In my judgement, one can easily make an argument or case for either fighter.
In the end, Kovalev only has himself to blame. You don't throw your opponent a lifeline when it's clearly obvious that you are the stronger and more powerful puncher of the two. Had he done just a little bit more he would have easily won the fight more convincingly and decisively.
Lastly, to answer your question, the reason why I say the fight was not as controversial as it may appeared because many boxing fans, experts and casuals alike, all agreed with the judges' verdict.
IMO Ward lost that fight but apparently Kovalev didn't do enough or wasn't convincing enough for the judges. At best it should have been ruled as a draw. Rematch would then be conclusive.
Ok, I will answer the question but before I do; Please allow me the chance to ask you a question first. Was the fight close?

Bold claim, whats your reasoning and evidence?
Please don't give me your scorecard, that is irrelevant.Ok, I will answer the question but before I do; Please allow me the chance to ask you a question first. Was the fight close?
I don't care what rounds you gave to Ward, why you think your opinion is more important than opinion of fans who scored it for Kovalev anyway? It's not. The official scorecards is the only thing that matters and it says 114-113 for Ward, the point remains - you don't give somebody a boxing lesson when you win by one point on official scorecards, not scorecards of biased fans of Ward and Kovalev
I got hold my own. Posters bashing the official decision hard so I have to throw my hat in the ring. Nah mean?
For Ward? I bet you gave the first round to Kovalev. I gave the first round to Ward.

Now isn't that the truth? There aren't any truer words, that could have ever been spoken better than this.
The fact is, it's time to move on. Kovalev lost a very close fight by a razor thin margin. It was not as controversial as many would lead you to believe.
Ward displayed championship mettle by getting off the canvas and snatching victory out of the jaws of the defeat. Sergey appeared to coast, while allowing Andre a window to get back into the fight.
End of the story!

We don't know who the better fighter is yet, Ward or Kovalev. No-one beat anyone clearly. Its a perfect example of a fight that needed to be scored even.
The official decision didn't reflect anything. Those who hide behind it (including Ward), or those who have started a crusade because of it, are doing so because of some emotional investment.
Sit and wait for the rematch. If Ward gets another decision in the similar manner, when Kovalev has just a good, or slightly better argument for getting it, then you can cry foul.

You're literally too stupid to understand why you're so stupid. Try reading your posts and thinking about them really, really hard. Maybe one day you will get it.
Keep repeating the same recycled lame joke, Mr Jamaican philosopher wannabe. Won't make you any less dumb than you already are. And batty bwoy, you really are dumb. :lol1:
:lol1: I see you are picking bits and pieces on here. Good to see. Remember now, you said I was irritating. You always say I am dumb but can't explain why. What we do know is that I irritate you.
Damn. I guess I am in good company. Ward irritates you too?

Just lol at these delusional Ward fans and their 'Ward moved up to give fans the fight they wanted' notion. :lol1:
No he didn't. The Kovalev fight was a part of the 3 fight deal he had with HBO. He wouldn't have come back on that network if he hadn't signed that deal, it really is that simple. There was nothing heroic about him moving up, he just outgrew the SMW division and had no choice but move up because HBO didn't want to pay for his mismatches in SMW. Then he openly cried about HBO making him do that and suggested that it's a racial thing and that it was some big conspiracy created in order to put him (a black man) down. :lol1:
Don't even get me started on who he tried to fight after his comeback lol.
He was stalling then and is stalling now. He's always been a delusional diva and I suggest his fans who defend him to start realizing that because he makes them look like idiots every time he speaks.
Let's hope he gives Kovalev a rematch, loses and retires so we could not hear from this arrogant fool ever again.

So Ward, the long time super middleweight champ, moves up in weight (which he didn't have to do), to give the fans the fight they wanna see is kov. He gets dropped recovers and shows championship mettle in the way he claws himself to victory. And all fans say is, he's a coward. All his opponent says is he's a coward. He gets discredited for the biggest fight of his career a fight he won and fans think he should rush back to impress you? He has a contract true, which has yet to be broken, so should he rush to sign because your feelings are hurt? Should he rush to sign because kovalev had his ego bruised when he got his belts snatched? Should he rush to return because the fight did underwhelming numbers? He's a man, he's the champ, and he'll move at his pace because don't forget, the fighting public did him no favors.
People are just a bunch of losers. Ward deserves nothing but respect. What he did was extraordinary.

I think we need more talk about it, and more exposure to how crappy boxing actually is
