That kinda of surprised me
Mayweather/Pacquaio 1.15M
Mayweather/Hatton 1.05M
First point: what's the source? Considering both were on Sky and they do not release official figures.
Second point: Mayweather did thosen umbers against the two biggest posisble stars. Hatton from a UK perspective and Pacquiao from a world rivalry perspective.
The moment the Pac rivalry ended, Mayweather couldn't draw worth **** against Berto. He couldn't draw worth **** before Oscar either.
with regards to the article, the numbers are totally inaccurate. Last sunday, something like 8 million watched United vs Chelsea in the cup. So I would take that with a pinch of salt.
BoxingNewsOnline.net also cites the 336,000 figure for the Joshua vs Cornish fight, as well as 139,000 for Gavern and 124,000 for Love
With regards to the football, the Guardian says 2.8m tuned in to the recent "Red Monday" fixture between Man Utd and Liverpool, which they claim is a higher rating than usual
So his numbers aren't too far off
Good, legit sources are quoting the figures we usually see. I believe that over a guy who uses google searches as his main source.
BARB is the most legit source that has been cited in this thread
I think the BARB numbers are extrapolated from smaller samples so there is surely a decent margin of error there. Plus they could be fudged if another Sky Box Office event like WWE or something took place in the same week, though that would make the numbers higher not lower
In general though I'm more inclined to believe them than Sky and Hearn's self-reported figures, which I've doubted for a while now. Exaggerating the popularity of your product can actually encourage more people to buy it, so it's not in Hearn's interest to be honest. Incidentally, while Googling some past PPV figures I also came across this brief article that casts doubts over Sky's reported figures and makes some interesting points, though its own estimated numbers go too far in the other direction for me: http://thekingmaker.me/sky-plc-should-release-ppv-numbers-to-shareholders/
Well it's all speculation because Sky has never officially released their numbers, and neither has Hearn.

I guess we'll never know, but still.
Hmm, I think most people know that Froch vs Groves did around a million buys. Even Froch himself confirmed that a couple of weeks ago. 355 would be considered a major disaster, and that fight was one of the richest and most anticipated fights ever on these shores.
So I'm not sure about that.
Haye took home almost 10m from the Harrison fight and it was called the first 10m fight in UK history.
So without knowing for sure, I doubt those numbers are accurate.

Gareth A davies, a respected journalist in the industry quotes 800k in this article. Far more believable than 223 imo given Haye's popularity at the time.

That's what I was thinking...it just cant be that low. It was a big fight.
According to the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board, which I believe is the most credible source for British TV ratings and has been cited in BBC articles before, Haye vs Harrison did only 223,000 while Haye vs Wlad did 1,143,000
It also says Froch vs Groves 2 did only 355,000 and Mayweather vs Pacquiao did 876,000
Make of it what you will: http://www.barb.co.uk/viewing-data/weekly-viewing-summary/
Froch vs Groves only did that much? it was a big thing, Wembley sold out, on all the papers at the time and talked about on the news...strange

Considering Haye Harrison was rumoured to do 800k I think wlad and haye definitely went beyond 1m.
rumour at the time was both guys getting around 20m pounds.

They never released the numbers but rumour is Wlad-Haye did 1.4 mil.

Pretty sure Mayweather-Hatton did over 1.2 mil
Great numbers for fights that started at 4 or 5am though.
Either way I'm still shocked that he is also the biggest boxer in the UK, I was expecting Froch/Groves to be the biggest PPV event in UK history, or even Joshua/Martin imo should have brought more than fight's that start at 5 AM
