HBO still has GGG, Lomachenko, Kovalev, Ward, Gonzales, Creaford, Pacquiao and Canelo - that's 8 of 10 current P4P list
Very true. The competition is still not in the other side's favor.
actions speak louder than words.
"mikey is the next PPV star" = promoter hyperbole to talk up their fighter. empty rhetoric.
but schaefer's actions show us that he's helped convince swiss bankers to pour hundreds of millions of dollars into keeping boxing off of PPV.
PPV is dying. it's an antiquated model. HBO is squeezing every penny out of it that they can before exiting the boxing business, but schaefer, like haymon, is trying to makre sure boxing has a post-PPV future.
Boxing has been dying overall doe. Espinoza has already hinted that Thurman/Garcia type fights are unsustainable. Would be nice to see them become the norm from a fan perspective. But it's a la la land you've been spouting here. Look at the massive inactivity going on right now. One fight a year fighters are becoming common. Fans are basically getting crumbs and there are no new stars popping up.
still no sources from ts lol
But HBO has certainly been spending less over the years, the problem is, they were the primary force behind over pricing their fighters. They paid millions to the likes of RJJ, Mayweather, Judah and more recently Ward, to fight crap opponents on over priced shows and that whole faux economy of theirs has come crashing down around them.
haymon is trying to kill PPV.
Schaefer, the best boxing promoter, according to Haymon fans, disagrees. "Mikey is the next PPV star," exclaimed Richard just recently.
Alvarez, Golovkin, Lomachenko, Crawford, Pacquiao, etc. These are all HBO stars that would blow PBC/SHO out of the water. Don't even know what this thread is all about. There's no competition in terms of star power. Not even one in the current PBC stable is PPV material.
Pretty much so.
It's so clear that PBC, SHO/CBS, and Schaefers new tourney is the present and future of boxing.
All those times HBO allowed Lampley, merchant and others to **** on mayweather has come back to bite them in the ass. Their clear bitterness toward haymon, mayweather and everyone associated with them has backfired. They're only penny pinching with their boxing budget because they don't have many options and the fighters/promotional outfits they chose to align themselves with aren't producing intriguing fights.
Now, there's more to it than that but that was definitely the starting point of HBO boxing's drastic decline.
Uhhh no.
But the main point that guy is leaving out is that hbo has been a boxing centric channel for 30 years. Of course boxing fans in 2006 would gravitate towards there for a unification bout.
Man I got both showtime and hbo and have so since the 90s when my pops was heavy into the sport and hbo has never lost other than 2013 cause Floyd switched up and golden boy left briefly.
Like I said boa it was all part of a package you can get as a whole back then
Uhhh no.

No it didn't but I'll also let it sink in that hbo was part of a regular dish, direct tv, and time Werner package back then.
Hbo has always been a premium channel
Maybe right now but that's my point he's ahead of schedule, him vs mikey or Crawford would do well over 200.
At some point us as boxing fans need to start worrying about the best fights being made, I can show you google trends and loma is top 5.
I'm all for the best fighting the best,, that's what's wrong with boxing
This has nothing to do with talent,,,, we are talking about drawing power..
Winky vs Taylor on hbo drew more than Thurman-Garcia on network tv... just let that sink in

Yes, great accomplishments,,, but couldn't sell 200k in ppv if his life depended on it

And let me know when ggg or loma has dominant wins over guys like Shane Mosley and Tito Trinidad, and should have gotten the decision over Taylor..
You obviously don't know what you are talking about if you think pavlik beat the hell out of winky, and that winky was a joke
