DAVID HAYE is on the mend after surgery on his injured Achilles. The Brit boxer lost his showdown with rival Tony Bellew on Saturday. He was hampered by a torn Achilles tendon in the bout. Haye has gone under the knife to sort the problem. Click Here To Read More]
'It wasn't meant to be for me that night but I couldn't have tried any harder.
'I was gutted when Shane McGuigan threw the towel in, but he's my coach and I respect him and his opinions.
'When they opened up my achilles it was like spaghetti, it was a mess.
'Maybe it saved me for another day because if I'd carried on putting weight on it, it would have got more and more mushed inside.'

Shane McGuigan isn't someone I rate as a trainer but he's a young pup and Haye could have stayed silence, but nice touch to mention Shane McGuigan as the kid has been questioned from all corners, not just on the standard of his coaching, but his role that evening.
Lucky for Haye the feedback he is getting on IG and Twitter and all over the gaff is amazing, basically the way he fought has rejuvenated his reputation
He lost yes, but he fought like a champion
Also those PPV numbers were impressive from what i heard, Haye still is the most lucrative HW in the UK, when he is matched up against a decent name..
The Brits love a loser, aslong as he gives it everything and puts his heart on the line...If Haye can get himself together, he can go for that rematch

People on Boxingscene will not understand, because most of you dont live in the real world....Haye just brought himself back from the dead...won his respect back in the UK, now if his leg heals, he can give it another try
Put it this way when Fury beat Wlad, he didnt get half the praise Haye is getting. Even Jousha hasnt got this kind of praise....you have so many women on twitter and on IG calling Haye "Brave", he has the casual market in his pocket. You rarely see birds talking about boxing....Jousha vs Haye would probably have broken all kinds of records
As they say in football (soccer to the yanks) It's a funny old game.
Haye losing to a fat cruiserweight has resulted in him being respected to a level, never seen before. Why? because different words came out of his mouth and he showed heart.
Hes always had heart and he's always been a decent guy,.

lol, I honestly didn't even know Haye was still alive! Huh, I thought he killed himself or something after the one Klitschko beat him up. He must have sunken really low getting knocked out by pub fighters. lmao, I like it, he was always nothing but talk anyway.
It's no coincidence that there was chatter about Haye having a dodgy achilles before the fight. Just how bad it was, I don't know - but it wouldn't be shocking to learn that he had a partial tear of some sort that just blew out.
I dislike David Haye for a few reasons, but man, the guy showed some real guts fighting on like that.
Have to agree, I thought Haye would smash Bellew tbh. However he looked bad before the injury, my guess is he went all out like you said. But due to the ring rust his timing and range was awful.
There is a case to say he was already injured and didnt want to pull out again I suppose. The guy is extremely injury prone it would seem, and its more than likely hes done at top level even if he does comes back.
I mean where was the power, even a clipping shot back in the day would of taken out Bellew. He did miss like 90% of his power shots due to wild swings lol, but the odd ones that did clip Bellew didnt seem like they did anything.
He just completely fell apart. The rematch "if" it happens may be the last time we see Haye.
According to Booth, he feels Haye hadnt been sparring for at least 2-3 weeks, he also said thats how Haye normally fights when he starts camp, when his timing is a little off....and he knows Haye inside, out
He was basically implying Haye was injured weeks prior to the fight and i agree...he probably needed an operation, but had to wait until after the fight
Haye tried to wing it, he couldnt call it off, it also might explain why he was so angry in the last few weeks, normally Haye is all smiles and dancing, he looked like a man who was not himself
But he's come out of it with a lot of respect, most of the feedback for him is very positive, unlike when he lost to Wlad
He hasn't looked that reckless since getting put on his backside by Lolenga Mock. I think he was fighting like that because he knew his ankle was busted and he wanted to get Bellew out of there before it gave up. His reaction to the slip in the 6th says it all. He didn't stop for a second to assess the damage, but threw everything at Bellew. He knew what the problem was.

THAT WHOLE FIGHT WAS LIKE A BAD DREAM....:boxing:
I was looking on my phone when i heard the commentator say that Haye injured his foot.
Dropped my phone on the floor and put both my hands on my head.
LOL
Agree. He didn't look right from the start. He was swinging recklessly and dragging his right leg fairly early. He didn't look anywhere near as explosive and didn't push off his back foot, no punches came down the pipe like normal.
I think the rumors were true and he was carrying an injury hence the doctor visit in the days before the fight. He knew he couldn't pull out though.
Even then we've got to be honest, Haye lost this fight more than Bellew won it. That's just how crap Bellew actually is.
Boxing fans are a funny breed. You basically have to fight with an injury, get ridiculed in the ring before anyone believes you're injured lol
Then you have the medical experts.
I also think Haye was injured, but knew he couldn't pull out and I'm convinced Haye never sparred for this fight, partly to avoid injury and partly because he thought he just had to land a few power punches and fat boy Bellew would fold.
haye ain t more than a rusted old car with one wheel already missin. if he ever comes back he could at most hope for a fight vs shannon briggs - which he will also loose :-DDDDDDDDDDDDD
You know Shannon Briggs is like, 50 right? If anyone's rusted it's that old-ass MF.

If he dfidnt perform to how he knows he cvould have that is enough reason tiotio return
He might not beat josh now in many peoples opinions so that maybe good. Josh will dare to fight hate noiw.
Belles weren't supposed to beat haye
not sure if jousha will get passed wlad

Good, he deserves another shot after that effort he put in, his heart should never be questioned
A lot of boxers, actually most boxers would have quit
He lost, but he won the respect of millions
I personally think he was injured before he stepped in to that ring, it got 100 times worse as he pushed his leg to the limit
If he thinks he can recover and come back let the man box....apart for the injury, he looked in good shape and his stamina held up
Yeah, Haye looked terrible even before the injury. Much slower than before, awful footwork and really bad technique. I was shocked at how sloppy he was before his achilles went.
