All he goes on about is Ben Getty, dude is obsessed with him, his current trainer get's zero praise. We get it Keith, Ben taught you a lot and gave you confidence etc... but move on dude it's starting to look like you were 'touched' by the guy and you can never forget those experiences with him.
I feel you on that. Wish Brook wouldn't have taken that fight, knowing he was gonna fight Spence. I want both guys at their best, and hopefully Brook's good now. LOL ay yo I head Spence KO'd Floyd in training camp last week B.
Lol Idk about KO'ed but he did give him a black eye.
I'd be more excited about it if Brook hadn't gone thru the GGG fight. I'm gonna have to wait till they get closer to weigh ins to really see what's going on. And see if any rumors about either camp start circulating around the boxing community. :lol1:

I was working full time before going to school but said f*ck this. It's free and I get paid so might as well go. I got it pretty easy right now tbh. Can't really complain. :fing02:

Hah, story of my life brother. When I had my daughter, stopped going to the boxing gym, and just hit up the gym to lift weights. Hey man, you're lucky you have time for school. I work full time, daddy duties, and wish I had time to go back to school. Keep on grinding man. It's gonna pay off my dude.

When I was training I just trained and sparred. After I had my daughter I started getting away from it little by little cause I was busy taking care of her. Now I got school AND gotta play daddy too so yea... that's all gone for me. :grumble:
I started developing from shoulder pain too which I think came from lifting weights too. It would get to the point where I could barely even jab. Lol

Do you train right now? Are you involved in boxing in some way, professionally? Or more of a hobby?

When I told my dad I was gonna start training he started panicking as if I was gonna be fighting or some sh*t and started telling me of the consequences of boxing as if I didn't know. He said he didn't like it but he would support anything I did. Lol

Yeah man, some people are just put into environments that almost force them to be successful, as long as they put int he work. And of course you need the psychical ability to keep up with those guys, but even if you can't, you're a lot better off than most.
But yeah, I don't think I could take head and body trauma for my career lol. No bueno on that, son.

Thurman loved his mentored and when he past tragically he dedicated his career to him. It's called integrity and honor!!
Birmingham understands the reasons because he has young kids in his gym that he is mentoring right now who look up to him.
Most of the boxing gyms that are established to help youth develop social skills are just using the sport as a tool.
The percentage of kids who become state champs never reach the regional's or the nationals. Most never compete internationally and
less than one percent become pro stars!
Thurman gives back to his trainers goals and supports the local
kids in his area.

This is true. He's always at local fights coaching.

Thurman is so lucky. If I went into a gym for casual reasons and ended up watching these guys and even sparring them at one point, I would had taken up boxing as a profession. Not saying that's why he did it but yea, you get the point.

Not at all, and I said in the thread i know who Dan Birmingham is, i just completely forgot or didn't realise he trained Thurman because he always talks about Ben Getty.
Birmingham walks out with him and is the main man in the corner. If you see him you know who he is. -____-
Yep, he did. Thurman came up through the dungeon. Had to fight all those guys in the gym, and a huge reason why he's as successful as he is today.

What? Are you serious? You must be new to boxing...
Not at all, and I said in the thread i know who Dan Birmingham is. I always remember was Lacy's trainer over here for the Calzaghe fight and trained Dawson too in the past, i just completely forgot or didn't realise he trained Thurman because he always talks about Ben Getty.
To be honest, i'd never followed Thurman that closely either although i've seen plenty of his fights since about 2012 at least. He's just not a guy i've ever been that drawn to. I've probably heard or saw a hundreds times he was trained by Birmingham too when watching his fights. Just not sure why i never really remembered or realised.
I've always been a lot more familiar with trainers on the British boxing scene more so than America too. So i'm not gonna sit here and pretend to know everything like a guru as some forum members do.
Yeah.
It's a bit weird how i know who Thurman's dead ex trainer is yet i have no idea what his current trainer is called. I bet i'm not the only one too.
What? Are you serious? You must be new to boxing...
Giving honor to the man who was a major influence in his personal and professional life is a problem for y'all?
Wow. I guess Cus must have 'touched' Mike Tyson too.
I think the OPs point is that Thurman's trainer should get more praise.
