I thought the fight was pretty good for the most part. I thought both guys had good stuff in a lot of rounds, though Thurman was clearly the winner.
I didn't like the crowd booing every time these guys had a lull in the action. These were the top champs in the division putting their undefeated records on the line and the crowd was booing because they didn't just go in reckless looking for the KO. I felt it was disrespectful to both fighters.
the booing was odd, being so early in the fight. Usually you only see that when there are alot of comps and its not really "fight" people who are there. I dont believe there were THAT many comps last night ........
Those boo's that came early in the fight had to be due to Danny's inactivity. He was just following Thurman around the ring and waiting for Thurman to go on the attack so that Danny can counter.
Thurman boxed beautifully up until he coasted those last few rounds. It was Danny who was reluctant to pull the trigger up until he knew he needed a KO to win.
This is why american style bias has ruined boxings chance of being mainstream...both guys have developed a take no risks, just get the win or try to not get beat up mindset.
bigger question is why they keep putting thurman in brooklyn or even the east coast? He should be fighting in Florida to build a hometown fanbase or fighting in Vegas. Those Brooklyn fans are never gonna be in his corner.
Florida only works for a stay busy fight. Like Thurman/Collazo. You can't have a big fight like yesterday's in Florida, not a big fight feel.
Vegas is a tough sell for anyone not named Mayweather, Pacquiao, or Canelo.

I think this attitude is why we keep getting garbage fights.
I'm not saying the Thurman-Garcia fight was garbage. It was good in spurts and I really liked the start. Thurman's flat out running the last two rounds was very discouraging, especially for a title unification fight of undefeated guys.
However, to say it's disrespectful for the fans to boo? I can't go along with that. If the fans are not happy, they should boo. The customer is always right. Without them putting down their money for the ticket, there is no fight. So, no. They can boo whenever they want and cheer whenever they want and no. It's not rude, ever.
Besides, why should fans cheer for the running Thurman in the last two rounds? That was a joke.
If they just booed the last two rounds I would get it, but they were booing in round 3 when both guys were looking to get their stuff in.
When I say its disrespectful its because i don't know what the crowd was expecting. Thurman has power but neither of these guys are all action fighters. If they thought they were getting Pacquiao/Marquez or Rios/Alvarado when they bought their ticket they were setting themselves up for disappointment. I think its a case where the crowd was made up of a lot of people that don't normally watch boxing.
Its like me buying a ticket for the new Logan movie and then booing because there was not more action. i knew what I was getting into when I paid money for the ticket.
I though overall it was a good technical fight and it was what i was expecting from these guys.
They fought in NY and danny is a puerto rican from philly.
Thurman is a mixed dude from clearwater, florida, who was beating their guy. What do you expect.
Pro-Garcia crowd so it didn't surprise me. Keith deserved some sh*t for that inglorious close he brought to the show as well.
The worst ever post-decision booing I remember from recent times was Bradley-Provodnikov. What kind of lowlifes would boo a guy after a fight like that?
They wanted to see a fight got a track meet instead.
They started booing like 2-3 rounds before Thurman jumped on his bicycle. It was all about Danny losing with that crowd.
They dont like Keith in New York for whatever reason, they were booing the **** out of him in the Porter fight.
And I wholeheartedly disagree; the fans are the ones that put their money down, they have every right to boo these guys, especially Thurman being on his bike the last three rounds. They paid to see either a knockout or 12 rounds of boxing, not nine rounds of boxing and then a guy circling the ring for three rounds running out the clock. Thurman has a right to do that, but fans have the right to boo him, call him whatever names they like, and not pay to see him again.
For some reason I don't remember that in the porter fight
I'll admit that some if not most of the crowd were booing the fact that DSG was losing . But if Thurman was actually fighting the last 3 rounds I'm sure he woulda made some fans in NY . It reminded me a bit of Kovalev/Ward ... Fight starts strong with the potential to be a Great fight then fizzles mid-point .

It was a heavily Danny Garcia crowd that watched him helplessly lose a decision. Of course they were going to boo.

They booed for 2 reasons.
1. Danny was just following Keith without doing anything other than waiting for Thurman to throw so that he can throw his no look, Hail Mary left hook.
2. Thurman cruised in the late rounds when he knew he had the fight in the bag.
