I know he had surgery on the eye and his twitter timeline doesn't say in definite terms whether it's an issue or not, and I think he wouldn't say so if it were. I hope Brooks is fully fit mentally (doesn't fear being hit there) and physically (isn't susceptible to further injury), but I can't help but wonder whether once damaged it becomes an area of weakness.
Does a broken eye socket ever fully heal and does it become fragile in future fights? If so, can Spence exploit this or was it a freak occurence due to GGG's power?
If the eye socket is completely healed it shouldn't be a physical deterrent. It may be an issue mentally for him though. He'll be protecting that eye and favoring that area may distract from his performance.
He has a titanium plate on his socket.. That's always going to be prone to pickup injuries as it'll get agitated more easily.
Fact is it'll never be the same.. Hopefully it doesn't give him too many problems as eye injuries in boxing can be career ending.
I have a plate on my shin and even though it's nothing compared to an eye socket and my shin isn't being punched serval times, it still gives me minor niggles and problems day to day.
It could, and Spence probably knows to target it. Also his weight could affect him. Wrong opponent to fight right off a loss/injury/surgery/drop in weight.
Whether or not the eye is fully healed you would have to think that it will affect Brook in some way, at least until he absorbs one of Spence's shots. I think it's worth remembering that Kell Brook was stabbed in the thigh shortly after winning the IBF title against Porter and came back 6 months later to defend his belt, so he has shown that he has the ability to overcome big injuries. Obviously, overcoming a broken orbital bone is much different, especially considering that this time his opponent will be a top quality and extremely hard hitting opponent in Errol Spence. While it's debatable how much it will affect Kell Brook, I think Spence will certainly look to test it out at any opportunity and Kell will have to be ready for that.
Even though Spence has already said he isnt worried about that because the IBF select the referees and judges. They have nothing to do with Hearn.. Want me to find his quote on that?
What fights did Bellew get that he shouldnt of in 2016? The two knockouts from the two fights he fought? lol
The jamie Mcdonnell fight in the UK that was actually in Monaco ?
The only 2016 lee selby (now a Haymon fighter) fight that was also officiated by a referee and judges appointed by the IBF that had nothing to do with Hearn / Matchroom? The fight where your boy with 2 previous dq's got docked for low blows and straight up LOST.
Burns vs relikh was the only fight out of those were the judges scorecards werent great and he still won the fight by at least two rounds.
Get your facts right.

I doubt he would be fighting if the eye wasn't fully healed. I am sure they are following the advice of the doctor who performed the operation. It's always possible the eye could cause him problems. I hope it doesn't. This is two of the world's best welterweights fighting. I want the best man to win on his own merits without the eye injury being a factor in the outcome.
the thing is they are not WW's. don't how they make weight or if they will
The venue is my only concern, premature stoppages are prevalent in the UK, bad officiating and robberies are common ; just last year alone Eddie Hearn promoted fighters been involved in controversial wins : Tony Bellew, Jamie McDonnel, Ricky Burns, Lee Selby...and the list goes on.

Of course it will but I'm sure Spence has injuries too that will affect him. When you have 20/30 professional fights under your belt you accrue a lot of damage.
The eye is going to be a problem for the remainder of his career, unfortunately. I have a feeling it will end up adding Brook to the list of boxers who have never been the same after fighting lil g.
This fight has a lot of variables to think about,eye/advantage Spence,venue/advantage Brook,weight/advantage/Spence,big stage experience/advantage Brook.

Kell Brook is a composed, experienced fighter that has answered more questions than Errol Spence so far in their careers. The weight is more of an issue than the break for me. Fighters typically struggle coming back down in weight. That being said I'm still backing Brook. Spence has all the ability in the world but I don't like how he's reacted in the past when he's been hit. It could be a long night in that hostile arena.

Does anyone really believe Kell Brook was going to beat Errol Spence jr. even without this eye injury? It makes no difference ; he can come in @ 154 and still get KO it really don't matter.
