involving a Showtime fighter?
How could Steve Weisfeld's conflict of interest not have been OBVIOUS to the Ohio commission? And he unsurprisingly turns in a scorecard with the widest margin (7-3) for the Showtime fighter?
Boxing doesnt even try to hide its corruption / incompetence anymore. And people wonder why its a fringe sport......
when I made the post about Weisfeld and Showtime, I had mixed Weisfeld up with Farhood. Weisfeld never actually worked for Showtime, so my critique after the Broner fight was unwarranted.
But the principle absolutely still stands, and tonite is a perfect example. Weisfeld should NOT have been judging tonites fight. An ex-HBO employee judging a fight involving one of HBOs top fighters??? On what planet is that a good look? The NYSAC should have known better.....
That I agree with 100%
Steve has also worked with HBO when "Jim I gotta tell ya" was not available

good time to bump this, considering steve weisfeld gave danny 2 of the first 9 rounds, which is absurd. Yes, how is steve weisfeld allowed to score an hbo ppv fight

Steve Weisfeld has also scored fights for HBO. He returned to judging fights in 2015. Are you saying he is no longer allowed to judge the biggest fights in boxing (those that air on HBO and SHO) because he has at one time worked for HBO and SHO? It's interesting that you had nothing to say when he was judging fights for HBO PPVs last year. Maybe it is you who has an agenda? :dunce:
he is no longer a showtime employee. there's no conflict of interest here. plenty of judges and officials have worked on TV briefly and gone right back to their professional capacities.
if he was still on the payroll it would be a conflict of interest for sure, but he's not. IIRC he worked for HBO, too.
Terry you make a valid point but it rings hollow when you look at Pigeons and New England's posts.
This is the same stuff you do when justifying negotiations for a fighter you like but criticizing it when its a fighter you don't.
You seem to only find conspiracy, cowardice and corruption when Haymon or a Haymon fighter is involved. The exact same thing will happen with another entity or a non Haymon employed/associated fighter and you either ignore it or don't see it so negatively.
When called on this you attack the poster and claim they are defending Haymon or trying to get on the payroll etc.
This more than just bias on your part. It feels personal.
This guys panties got soiled by the OP's opinion apparently
Why are you weirdos always saying something gay or saying lame stuff like,"You got your panties in a bunch" or "you're but hurt" when someone gives their opinion?? ...its just a ****n website its not that serious (at least to me it isnt) lol but I guess it's life to people like you.
Same way Julie Lederman judges for HBO while her biased father influences the audience with his scorecards.
Go watch the mismatches on HBO. Yall haters complain about everything. Its simple DONT WATCH. GO watch Canelo VS tomato cans. PBC is straight up killing HBO

After 4 pages someone finally gets it right haha
Granados clearly lost that fight.
He was running like he stole something.
If you think Granados was runnng I'm curious to see what you call Lara style lmfao
This should be good
Those would be the same 'journalists' with a tendency to focus on bashing select network/mgt/promotional outfits while blatantly cashing checks from those network/mgt/promotional outfits' direct rivals, correct?
That's who we're depending on to 'cut down corruption' in boxing? Yeah, ok.
It Would actually be a good thing, imagine having a pro Showtime journalist writing about the judges on hbo, while a pro hbo journalist wrote about judges on Showtime.
Al of a sudden we Would know exactly who every judge was BEFORE the fight, and could put a spotlight on them to keep them and the promoter In check.
And quite honestly, there isn't many boxing journalist cashing any checks from anyone anymore.
Most of these guys get press pass, a t shirt, and a ham sandwhich if they are lucky.
I didn't Know this happened.
I always said this sport needed a journalist or website to profile judges for each fight and keep track of their scores and who they work for. It seems we always find out after a fight About a corrupt judge, when it was quite obvious before the fight that the judge was already corrupt.
But boxing journalist/websites don't make enough money to be bothered to do that.
It would be an easy way to cut down corruption significantly though.
