From what I've been able to gather, AJ has fought his entire pro career in the UK, his Olympic gold was argued by some to be a "home decision" in London, and stretching through his amateur career, I could only find two instances of his leaving the UK - EABC in Turkey (finished 7th), and the AIBA in Azerbaijan (finished 2nd). Other than that, he's had the luxury of all his biggest fights being in friendly territory. Even now, facing a former champ and future HoFer, he still gets the home turf.
How much do you think a boxer fighting in their home country helps them? Or do you think it matters at all? Will he panic the first time a crowd boos him and starts chanting for the other fighter?
He boxed in cardiff and cardiff is wales lol....you need a new heavyweight to look up to son and seeing as your hero is gonna take a monster right on his chin and go sleeping for a bit courtesy of aj ...why not come on join the war AJ CREW
If that happens I'll stand up and respect him, I'll be the first to acknowledge he's the real deal, no excuses Wlad is old. When was the last time anyone looked great versus Klitschko ? Joshua will be allotted what credit he is due from me, I don't expect he stops him though, Wlad is too wily and defensive minded to go out like that IMO, theirs life in the old dog.
I'll reiterate if it happens then we'll discuss, I don't foresee it personally and my biggest concern is Wlad being screwed on an Hearn promotion, some very suspect officiating through refereeing and judges cards on those shires.
Did he headline the Wales card ?

What on earth are waffling on about weiland lol.....wales is not the same as england and has its own parliament , language, football and rugby team so if we are being petty joshua has boxed away from home lol

I'm not judging anyone but you, you still think Germany is the the Third Reich by the way you're describing Austria and Germany. Peculiar. Research Steven, research your facts first. Germany lost the war, you're also aware their is no Soviet Union any longer right ?

it helped him a lot. they gifted him that gold medal and that was what boosted him to popularity. he was making millions before fighting a live body based on that fraudulent result. he was so popular that he could entice a bum champ like martin over to take his belt. this just proves that stealing is the best option sometimes.
Dude Klitschko fought away from Germany in his second fight. Unless of course you're still living in 1938 and you consider Austria part of Germany. As I said he's Ukrainian he's not even German.
Buffoon...

Its your bs son..joshua has had less fights than klitchco at home before he boxed away for the 1st time....your just salty and you hate the fact that come april 29th your idol who you have sucked up to for years is gonna get sent to retirement land and knocked out in the process of it....judge joshua at the end of his career to see how many times he's boxed abroad not at the beginning lol...buffoon

I'm not arguing anything, i don't care. I'm just poking holes in your bs.

We all know that germany was his adopted home from day one and only used kiev or moscow for his backup defences....the bottom line is joshua is 18 and 0 and his career is just taking off and if his fights are selling well then why change it but he will no doubt fight in the usa very soon.....but if thats your only argument weiland then its a pretty weak won lol......be patient son it all begins april the 29th

You fail to mention how many countries Wlad fought in before first challenging for his first world title and the level he was fighting at in his first defence away from home, this is all of course if you consider Germany his home when he is in fact not even German !

Out of his first 20 fights klitchcko only boxed one time in austria and out of his 68 fights he boxed a total of 53 proffesional fights with home town advantage so if your gonna talk about aj not fighting away from home at least dont use WK as an example....now his profile is built he will fight in the states and he will still knock them over ..nexttttt

I'm directly quoting you asking how is it helping him gain this wealth of experience you talk of from fighting in different arenas, it's not like he's fighting in different countries like Fury's, Klitschko and Wilder have is it, that's experience.

It's funny you aretalking about home town advantage.Your favorite boxer Ward has fought about 95% of his fights in the Oakland area where they are happy to let him break the rules
If he was getting decision wins he didn't deserve it would be helping him. That is not the case, He knocked out everybody he fought in 7 rounds or less. Clearly he has not needed any hometown advantage to date. He has easily won all his fights by KO by virtue of his two fast, accurate and powerful fists. He has needed no outside help from anyone in England.
I never said anything about judge's decision other than his gold medal win. My point was fighting in your home country can be helpful in terms of crowd support, not having to deal with travel concerns in the lead up to the fight, having people chant your name can be a very empowering experience...obviously. You're just looking for something to complain about rather than take part in the conversation as it was.
You must be American. Or Northern.
In most cases - it definitely is an advantage.
I'm sure as his career progresses he will fight in the US, at which point we will find out how well he handles travelling.
I think the biggest things I have seen with UK fighters fighting overseas is first of all the competition in general is that bit higher (not in all cases) so the fights and styles become more diverse and generally harder.
The second thing is that the crowds tend to be a bit more flat, in terms of atmosphere and noise, and I think I have definitely seen this have an effect on performance.
Lastly the actual travelling, jet lag, lack of home comforts, unusual surroundings, change in altitude, can all effect performance and some fighters have better personalities to deal with these things than others.
As Joshua progresses in his career, we will find out if he can tick the boxes so to speak and mark his greatness. But I wouldn't criticise him if he didn't travel to be honest, for the first time since probably the Eubank, Benn era, you have a fighter in Joshua who is the cash cow, all roads seem to lead to him in the heavyweight division. He might create a situation like Mayweather had at the MGM, which is you might actually have to go to his house to beat him, which makes it doubly difficult.
They (Joshua + Matchroom) have a winning formula right now, in terms of brand, ppv, revenue, it will take a hell of a lot of money to get Joshua to give all that up and come to Vegas or New York in my opinion.
Not even related to the thread! i guess this is too difficult and many ppl went ona rant on other things too ,not how much its helped JOSHUA fighting at home which is the thresad! This site sometime...man...wow...lol
