On who he considers the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing:
“I don’t know, we’ve got a couple of good fighters. I mean Lomachenko seems to be one of the top, top fighters that’s on a tear. I mean Andre Ward keeps winning, albeit very ugly.
“It’s difficult for me to give any credit, not just because he beat me, he beat me fair and square but he ducks below the waist, that’s illegal. He holds, that’s illegal. He uses his head, that’s also illegal. But he don’t get any points deducted, he don’t get disqualified. So I don’t class that kind of fighting style as pound-for-pound.”
On his thoughts about the Kovalev-Ward fight:
“I thought it was a stinker and I thought Kovalev didn’t deserve to lose, and I don’t think either of them really deserved to win. Kovalev wasn’t busy enough the last six rounds. Andre Ward was too dirty as he always is when he’s in a hard fight, so maybe that fight should’ve been a draw, that might’ve been a fair decision...

“I don’t think the rematch will happen, I don’t think Andre Ward is gonna want the rematch if I’m totally honest...There’s talk of retirement now from Ward, I don’t know what’s going on.”
On if there’s any chance of him returning to the ring:
“Eddie Hearn always likes to keep it going, trust. You’ve got the Gennady Golovkin thing going, there’s James DeGale now struggling against Badou Jack, he’s got the draw. I’m training now, but I’m training for something else. I’m training for something I’m doing in Britain on a TV show regarding the paratroop regiment...
“...but whilst I’m training up for that, I’m doing my long runs, my weight’s coming down, I’m 12 stone 10 which is about 178lbs, and I’m strong, I’m lifting the heavy weights, and I’m thinking to myself ‘why am I even thinking about fighting again?’ I’ve done everything, I’ve retired on the top, I’ve got four world titles, I’ve got a straight nose now, it’s actually straight, why do I want to get that bent up again?”
My old nab pretty nuch says the same thing. I think it is the way people involved in boxing in the UK view boxing. The Americans place a lot more emphasis on technique. British people value a good tear up. Not to say they can't recognise and appreciate technique, but they expect it to show the person is a class apart.
Froch and Ward are both horrible to watch, but more so Ward because at least Froch looked somewhat menacing and was more willing to fight. I still think Ward won, but I don't think anyone, casuals or fans, can honestly say they look forward to watching him fight. Some boxers are unfairly labelled boring, but as a boxing fan I appreciate their skills and finesse, but Ward is undeniably boring and a massive turn-off for viewers.
"his style is too ugly "...............................hahahaha.....really
Here's a fellow with the WORST jab I've ever seen talking about a fighter who fought on the highest levels in the amateurs is undefeated the past 20 years and this guy void of style and form criticizes him? What a joke!
Now I know this guy does commentary so someone is sticking a mic in his face all the time but for this guy to knock GGG and Ward is a joke, he was a marginal talent who hid in the "junior" weight class all the time and was a C+ talent.
No one will ever bring up Froch when speaking of great fighters or champions the guy was ordinary at best. You will rarely find a retired fighter knock current fighters it reminds me of the idiots on forums who are world champions in their mothers basements.

I agree with everything. Finally a poster with common sense haha.
I personally would rather watch Ward than Froch any day of the week. At least with Ward I know I'm watching something special. If I want to watch an exciting fighter who throws punches in bunches, there are plenty of them and I would certainly pick someone with a more aesthetically pleasing style than the sloppy, technically mediocre and utterly hittable Froch.
Froch always has something negative to say about fellow boxers. He started with Calzaghe, then Khan, then Ward and now Golovkin is his main target. The jealousy is obvious. Three of them are on a completely different level and that is what irks him. As far as Khan, he has made it in the US having headlined fight cards in various cities including Las Vegas - Froch's dream - whereas no one cares about Froch in the US.
When you hear him talk, you are under the impression that he considers himself as some sort of all-time great legend. And I think he's delusional enough to believe it. He might be that in the U.K. but in the grand scheme of things he's simply an ordinary fighter, like there have been thousands.

I enjoy watching his craft, I believe he's skilled yet guys like you choose to overlook it because he beat your Brit poster boy. For real if this guy was British you'd be arguing a case for him as pound pound no.1 and TBE along with Laced Up.
Try and find one single post out of my thousands of posts, in year's where im cheerleading or being a fanboy of a British fighter.
Ill wait...
In fact the opposite is true, ive constantly exposed the hype job's like Juicehua, always said fluffy fury was overrated etc
Try Harder dimwit :lol1:
IKR!
anyone that isnt a fan or doesnt like his style is a hater/racist/ jealous of his sucess, unbeaten baby SOG! even when he loses he wins! haters gonna hate!

The outpouring of dislike towards Ward is tellin in this thread alone, success clearly brings envy.
If Froch learnt to implement a winning style as Ward has he would not have to spend all his money on surgery to rectify his hooter.

He gave him credit for beating him. I don't expect everyone to enjoy or appreciate Ward's style but he hasn't lost a fight since he was 12 years old. That's all that matters in the end.
Ward has an incredibly entertaining style, zero combinations, in-between ton's of clinching and single jab's is awe inspiring.
Froch is clearly just jealous of all of Ward's fan's and froch never really had as exciting and entertaining fights as SOG baby!
and anyone that disagrees is clearly a hater and racist who is still crying about kovalev and ggg losing to ward by SCHOOLING! :boxing:
USA USA! :usa::usa2:
Froch has a rather sloppy, ugly style himself. He seems to very jealous of boxers that are usually considered better than him. For years he couldn't stop talking about how much better he was than Calzaghe. Now he can't stop trashing GGG and he adds Ward to his list. Both Ward and GGG are usually thought of by fans and experts as being a level above Froch. This seem to drive Froch mad with jealousy. He can't stop trashing them to make himself feel superior to them.
I'm sure Froch is envy of making 50 times as little as himself his career, not having many fans and TV generally hating him.
Despite you hating ward, he's still made at least 1M in most of his fights after Froch and he just made 5m vs Kov.
Anyone else think it's just envy?

Andre Ward is the only fighter to really beat Carl Froch. There are fighters who lose fights, but deep down they still believe there was something else they could of implemented to win. Carl Froch after his defeat to Andre Ward, understood psychologically that there was nothing more he could of done! because Andre Ward fought him at his own game.
That specific victory, is Andre Wards best win! and since that point in time, i believe he has gone down hill in performance. Andre Ward has lost his passion for boxing, and training! and this is evident through his attitude towards the sport, and even his last performance showed this to me.
In his fight up against Kovalev, his legs looked to have gone (like he has bricks for feet!) the fight was not a particularly intensely paced fight! but even still Andre Wards expression, was as if he was partaking in a Iron Man Triathlon. I think Andre Ward's conditioning has gone down hill, and he is there for the taking at this point in time.
The Bernard Hopkins that fought Jean Pascal, would beat this current Andre Ward!
I don't think this has anything to do with age ether, its just his attitude! i don't think he love's boxing or training. And as a result of this, he has digressed as a fighter.
