For the guys that have followed his career a good bit. From what I've seen he can't box, and it might be his eventual downfall in a weightclass that he doesn't belong at.

That is not his game and likely never will be. Is he talented enough to do it if he wanted to? I would say yes. I really don't understand the purpose of the question though. Very few fighters in the entire history of boxing were capable of doing everything in the ring and of those capable of doing it, even fewer were willing to do so when it would of benefited them in the ring. 99.9% of fighters are what they are and no matter how good you are. You are going to run into someone that is good enough that their style is going to give you fits.
I mean seriously. How many fighters have you seen change up their style from fight to fight?
Yes. Don't act like you know more boxing than me, you joined this year. By boxing I obviously mean out-fighting. Gonzalez looks fairly flatfooted and just uses superb head-movement and fundamentals to defend, but I'm curious if he can keep a fight at a distance. If someone could show me a fight where he does this.
its not his style ,his not ouutboxer and he dont need to,jis rolling punches and fight inside very effective ,with good movement.
Dont be offended ,just be more specific ,he can box for sure, outside he probably could but not as good as inside, you can fight bigger guy inside with succes.
I havent seen him fight on the back foot and box no.
This could be a horrible fight for Gonzales. Maybe much more torrid than the Cuadras one.
Im tempted to bet on Rungvisai depending on the odds.
YDKSAB Son..
Are you claiming that Gonzalez doesn't get hit? You might want to rewatch his last fight. He slips and catches a lot, but far from everything. He's a bull, not a matador. Albeit a highly skilled bull
Sor Rungvisai is a much more basic fighter but if Roman meets him in the middle of the ring, he is in danger of being overpowered down the stretch
I understand your question. He is excellent at taking the force off of punches in the pocket, but being always in range means some inevitably get through and this could be his downfall in a division where the main guys are all stronger than him. Sor Rungvisai will punch right through his guard if he stands and trades with him. I think Roman will beat the hell out of Sor Rungvisai in the first half of the fight, but if he can't stop him then he may be in trouble later on

To be honest your question is offensive, I’ve followed him since he was in the amateurs, the guy has beautiful skills reminiscing the late Alexis Arguello, but somehow you think people that know more about boxing than you were mistaken in elevating a simpleton flat footed boxer to the highest of rankings, somehow ESPN, The Ring, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board are wrong and four Divisional Champion 46-0 unbeaten flat footed no skill cab driver is some how the Pound for Pound King of boxing..!
Here go watch some videos of his skill set and learn something because you obviously DKSAB..

Definitely. A large part of what makes him so great are skills that translate into a more traditional "boxing" style. Despite his pressure style he relies greatly on traditional boxing skills. His timing, countering, control of distance, and head movement are very well developed.

I think
Your phrasing needs work he can obviously box he's arguable p4p number 1 and looks terrific in the ring can he fight at distance? I'd say so yes
