Ali over Foreman, Duran over Leonard, and Frazier over Ali are generally considered amongst the greatest wins in the history of the sport. Others include Louis over Schmeling, Benitez over Cervantes, and of course Douglas over Tyson.
Thinking about the modern era, what wins could be regarded as being right up there as some of the best ever? Are there any?
Off the top of my head?
Obviously the JMM KO over Pac is probably one of the biggest things to happen in the sport ever.
I think Corrales vs Castillo I will still be talked about half a century from now.
This falls a few years outside of 20 but Foreman becoming the oldest Heavy, oldest to hold a title (at the time), and oldest to regain a title is iconic. (And oh yeah, the same year, JCC officially lost his first fight to Randall)
I think the Basilio win over SRR gets overlooked because Robinson avenged it, and the same is probably the case for Morales' win over Pac
Ali avenged his loss to Frazier. As did Leonard with Duran. The wins stand regardless of subsequent history.
Great thread
Marquez knocking out pacquiao
Tyson Fury beating Klitschko
Ward beating kovalev
Fury over Wlad would be a great one if it wasn't the least violent heavyweight fight in history.
I doubt it. Basilio dropped the welterweight title to beat Robinson for the middleweight title, but you rarely see it mentioned because Robinson was coming to the end. A win over Pac after the Marquez knockout will never mean as much as a win beforehand.
Morales over Pac is a win that I think will stand the test of time.

JMM's KO over Pacquiao is going down in the history books for sure. The context of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will probably be somewhat lost with time too and people will just remember the names and the scores

Pacquiao over Barrera and Marquez over Pacquiao.
After that I'm struggling. Maybe Hopkins over Tito? It's certainly one of boxing's greatest pure performances but how important is that win historically? If Fury had put on a better performance, his win over Wlad might count too. Also, add in Morales over Barrera (however controversial) and MAB over Naz.
