no, he's a manager that manages a television series. What exactly do you consider a boxing promotion to be? What economic role does it perform? What service does it provide? The fact that smaller, local promoters with greater experience (such as Dibella) do much of the legwork and fulfil many of the many of the tasks traditionally associated with the role does not change the essential nature of what PBC is. PBC generates profits by producing, advertising and selling entertainment events ergo it is a boxing promotion. Sure, if the product it was making was Kids TV programs then maybe you'd call it a TV Production company, but it ain't - it's making boxing shows. PBC isn't a broadcaster - it (in effect) sells to broadcasters... it isn't a management company - so what is it in your opinion?

Oh Chapelle.. He kind of lost it man once he signed a deal for like 50mil.. He couldn't handle the money & media.. In an interview few yrs back he confessed that it was way too much i.e., money & all the media attention associated with it.. He turned down the money & He ran off to South Africa for a few months.. He did not return to big time stand ups for a few years & only performed in small clubs & stuff.. Oh... Yea, that's the story I read. Funny thing is, he looked like a crazy dude and not the type to do something like that huh? Or be bothered by it anyway.

the writing is on the wall with PBC failing Haymon is stuck with a ton of fighters that he can't afford to pay and keep active. A ton of fighters who were fighting more regularly before PBC and look at the purses for some of these Haymon fighters drop. They going back to Showtime getting offered less money for tougher fights or Showtime telling them no we won't pay so they sit on the shelf. There was a report early last year that Haymon was thinking about selling off a lot of fighter contracts because he can't keep these guys happy with all the budget issues with PBC, canceling tv dates, slashing purses, ect. PBC punted all their remaining TV dates to 2017 basically closed up shop TWICE in 2016 with long months stretches with no shows. You can only operate like this so long before fighters get disgruntled. We'll see how much Lara will get from the Yuri Foreman fight.

What's the cost of going free agent? This has never been discussed at length here. What are the disadvantages? On surface it looks ideal, go where fights and money are and not restricted to one promotional outfit. It sounds ideal but that would mean the fighter needs the connections to get through the door at tv networks, promoters working with posisble opponents, private investors without whom most fights would fall through and stadium/event organisers, to say the least. Experienced ifghters may have built up such contacts but young fighters andt hose who are looking to buy their way up rnakings don't have such contacts and need promoters and managers. Sadly.
