I personally think this is a big mistake on Joushas part, he's not ready to make such a big jump in competition level
People are saying Wlad is old, Wlad can't take a punch, Wlad is coming off a loss...all of this is true, but Jousha is inexperienced, he is still learning his craft and he clearly has vulnerabilities which could be taken advantage of
Mark my words Wlad will KO Jousha...It will be like Lennox Lewis vs Michael Grant over in 6
Jousha aint on Furys level, he doesnt have the skillset....
Also i feel Wilder would beat Wlad as well.....
Jousha will pay the price for rushing his progress, huge mistake, way too eary for him to take a fight like this, even if he is facing a past his prime Wlad
You guys are in for a rude awakening
Jousha has no head movement, no upper body movement, he's very stiff up top.
Although i have noticed Jousha has lost a lot of size in his recent bout
Both Fury and Haye have good body/head movement, hands down, very agile, something that made Wlad nervous....
Wlad is like a robot, if you come at him from angles, he stiffens up, but if you make the mistake of coming at him in straight lines he will knock you clean out
Jousha pretty much stands in the same spot, high guard, and walks his guys down in straight lines...Wlad tends to destroy boxers who try and walk him down.
Jab and a stiff right, you will see Jousha on the canvas...
Everyone Josh fought has more experience. It can only help you so much.
There comes a point when having such a long career and age and wear and tear catches up with you.
Wlads age & inactivity worries me.
It'll be around 3 years come fight night since he looked decent and those opponents were terrible.
Then again Joshua doesn't have the upper body movement of say a Jennings.
Wlad will have no trouble finding Joshua as long as he isn't going to be his rather usual tentative self.
I don't know I'm really torn on this one. Too many question marks for me to even try & predict how it will go down. All I know is prime Wlad knocks him the hell out.
Not sure where the couple of suggestions that AJ is chinny come from. The huge left hook that Whyte (a fairly big puncher) caught him with? He rode that pretty well, all things considered. Most heavyweights would have been on their arse.
The worst thing you can say about AJ's whiskers is that they're 'unproven'. And seeing as Klitchko never even got close to hurting Fury (who IS proven as a bit chinny), I'm not sure all these claims about Wlad being able to KO AJ should be being made with such confidence.
A real 50-50 for me still. Can't wait.
Plenty of power there, not sure who told you otherwise. Granite chin. Bambi on ice? More like Sweet Pea in Goliath's body.[/
Gets rocked off any fighter that catches him, cant knock any top heavy out, ... I've watched him since he turned pro and honestly cant believe he has got this far.
I'm not sure. Joshua does still have a very thin resume though so it's obviously a big risk at this stage. They obviously feel confident enough after Vlad-Fury to still carry through with it.
i get all of that but why wait til fight night to be inept ? he knew damn well how tall/big fury was. hes seen tape. wlad knows the the prefight drills. there were no secrets.
i dont think a wlad from even 5 years ago breaks a sweat vs fury. fury has yet to impress me (that self uppercut came close).
I don't know what his plan was. I suspect he thought Fury would give him openings when he was trying to score himself, but that didn't happen very often. Fury landed next to nothing in the first six rounds and not a whole lot afterwards either. But Wlad's inactivity persuaded the judges that Fury was doing more I guess, even though Fury was mainly just feinting and throwing air jabs.
But we see counterpunchers get undressed by other counterpunchers all the time. JMM vs Floyd. Donaire vs Rigo. Trout vs Lara. It always looks like the loser came with no plan whatsoever, but really it was just that they couldn't do the only thing they know how to do. When you see how horrible counterpunchers look when they're forced to lead, it explodes the myth of them being more skillful than offensive fighters.
sparring is so different from actual fights though.
It's definitely different but Joshua would be familiar with the angles Klitschko's coming in at because as a veteran Wlad's style was already established whereas Joshua would have improved and changed things since they sparred. It should be easier for Joshua to predict how Klitschko will fight than vice versa.
spot on. i dunno what about fury turned wlad into a coward. truly baffling.
Fury's height and footwork was making Wlad fall short with his jabs and right hands. Being in range for the opponent's counter is Wlad's worst nightmare. He has less ability in the pocket than Amir Khan, which is saying something.
The second half of Wlad's career has been about avoiding those mid-range exchanges. He hits and holds or he hits and steps back. Hitting and still standing there is something he cannot do.
The guy is just hardwired that way at this point. And for all the things he does well, the heavyweight champion being unwilling to trade to keep his titles is a little pathetic.
If we're being honest Wlad gave the Fury fight away. He didn't come to fight and would rather risk the judges scorecards in his adopted homeland than getting KO'd. A Wlad coming to win and take more risks stops Fury, Fury knew this and ducked the rematch.
I don't think Wlad knows how to take those risks. At a deep level he's programmed not to get into exchanges, which he had to if he was going to take the fight to the taller Fury. Not at all sure the fight would look any different.
But it was close anyway. It's not like Fury landed much of significance over the 12 rounds.
If you speak to Ola Afolabi he says that Wlad pretty much spars as if it's a real fight (although with headgear), whereas Vitali used to spar lightly just to work on specific things. In other words, Joshua already knows what to expect from Wlad having sparred him several times.
I was watching back the Dominic Breazeale fight....
Dominic Breazeale was a load of ****, he was getting beat to the punch...but what he showed me was that Jousha was there to be hit. If Dominic Breazeale was faster and had a better boxing brain he could have made that fight competitive.
Wlad is very accurate
But if Braezeale was faster and had a boxing brain then Joshua would have had a different approach to the fight. So really basically what you're saying is gibberish.
I agree, the good Dr. Saw something in AJ besides the money that enticed him to go for it!
I think he knows Bibical is a Knockout waiting to happen and see's his patent left hammer jab and nuclear right straight down the pipe Bibical in another dimension!
Wlad by KO in 6th!!!
Fury isn't that amazing, he can't punch at all and has hit the canvas against pajkic, Cunningham and was out on his feet vs firtha.
Yes he does have good skills and is awkward but the hype around him is getting out of hand. If klitschko had come forward he would have kod fury.
Poor performance by klitschko
Fury is then definition of amazing. Knockdowns aren't exclusively power/chin related either.
The British guys who have watched fury from the start would be surprised at the praise he gets, no power, weak chin, Bambi on ice- was a freak win over klitchko
Plenty of power there, not sure who told you otherwise. Granite chin. Bambi on ice? More like Sweet Pea in Goliath's body.
I don't agree with your picks. Joshua is the one with 17 straight KOs and Wlad is the one who is well past prime and well past 40. I don't think Fury is all that special. He just caught Wlad at the right time. Even then he never hurt Wlad and it was one of the tamest and worse fights I have ever seen. Fury was knocked down by light hitting Cunningham. You say Wilder would beat Wlad but Joshua would lose to Wlad. That makes no sense to me. Joshua is a better, more skilled and more precise fighter than sloppy wild swinging, weak chinned Wilder. He just destroyed a guy in 3 rounds that gave Wilder trouble and lasted 9 rounds with Wilder. You should have more faith in your countryman Joshua. Mark my words, Joshua is the best heavyweight in the world and he will knock the others out whenever he fights them.
Fury is #1 in the world. Eventually you will come around to this.
Fury is a difficult fight for every current HW..he is fast, illusive and his power is enough to make you think twice...
Jousha ain't ready for Fury..(well the Fury we saw that fought Wlad)
Jousha is making a huge mistake in my opinion, he is trying to run before he can walk...
Wlad never wanted the Fury fight, he knew Fury had his number....it was all on his face during the first presser...
Jousha is another story, i can see the confidence in Wlad, he has a certain swagger about him..on the flipside Jousha looks nervous.
I hope i am wrong, but i think a lot of people are underestimating WladYou are forgetting one very important point. Fury quit when he was on top of the boxing world. He has lost his love of combat and his love of boxing. Without his passion for boxing is Fury ever going to fight again and will he be worth a damn if he does? I am waiting to see if Fury fights again and how good he is now. Until then I can't take him seriously.
