Buglioni/Burton was an outstanding fight through and through, thought Burton was pulling away with it then Buglioni had a big round 11 followed by a finish in round 12. I believe at least 2 of the judges had scored it wide enough for Burton that Buglioni needed the stoppage to win the fight.
Whyte/Chisora was high action in spots. They both gassed pretty hard but nonetheless bombs were thrown in pretty much every round by both guys.
Parker/Ruiz close, high level affair between two promising HW prospects.
Charlo/Williams great fight for as long as it lasted. Williams really started to assert himself but that uppercut nearly killed him. Beautiful block of two shots by Charlo who stayed planted and threw that uppercut with bad intentions and followed through to get the stoppage.
Cuellar/Mares was pretty good. I thought Mares might have been done before the fight but he won this one in an ugly but very convincing fashion.
Plus we got to see AJ/Molina (which came with the announcement of AJ-Klitschko), Crawford/Molina and others.
Unbelievable night, bros. :boxing::trink26::hail:
Also, 12/10 was the big dunn's birthday. So I agree wit was a great day,
Happy belated bro :beerchug:
I hope you took a little time off of arguing with 1bad65 to enjoy it

Burton v Buglioni was a great fight, so happy Buglioni won. Chisora v Whyte was also fantastic, very typical Hearn that Whyte got the decision, Chisora definitely won.
More annoyingly I had a Buglioni and Chisora double paying a little over 11/1, money stolen from me by Eddie.
Rough loss there bro

Hmmm with that phrasing it's a tough tough call. Yesterday night had some great fights but I could barely sleep with anticipation for Kovalev-Ward. Plus it was a great fight in it's own way. High level chess match with back and forth momentum swing and a spirited come back effort.
Yes. Kovalev vs Ward offered great stuff. Momentum shifts and a lot of close, competitive rounds towards the final stretch. Plus we got the rematch to look forward too.
As far as volume it was night of the year. I don't remember there being a lot of hype about that day. It just kind of snuck up on me. Like the day before I was looking at the schedule and said to myself, "huh, there's a lot of fights on tomorrow."
Like, it wasn't any one major fight on that was a must see. Good, competitive match ups were on, but nothing where I told myself, "I have to see this one."
I didn't even get a chance to see the good ones, like Williams vs Charlo. I ended up watching the Crawford vs Molina mismatch.
To me, the night of the year was probably Kovalev vs Ward. If you had to pick only one night out of the year to watch boxing and miss all the others, you would have to pick Kovalev vs Ward.

lol was the Nutcracker any good at least
Actually, yes. Didn't realize I'd never seen it before. Though it's ballet, some of those people are exceptional athletes. Crazy leaping and spinning stuff.

Thx. :D
Gassiev/Lebedev was definitely good, we can agree to disagree on which fights were better. Indongo/Troyanovsky was a nice surprise too.
Even the 0 and 0 debut prospects were incredible fights, like i said every single fight was awsome...The Monobrow V Vlasov fight had like 5 KD's in it. I feel The lebedev fight was better because... there was actual skill involved... :lol1:
But i still absolutely loved chisora v whyte but i had a very bad taste left in my mouth at the end. Del boy absolutely deserved it, and when i realised he wasnt going to KO whyte by around round 8...i was just thinking...'yeah they are just gunna give this to whyte 100%'
:lame:
Well Gassiev V lebedev was better than both of them...so yea. As was the Card as a whole..

I wouldn't say any of the fights last week were as good as Buglioni/Burton or Whyte/Chisora to be honest. Not a bad card last week but don't know why it's be oversold as something it wasn't.

Last week's russian card was far better, where every fight was incredible not 2/8 fights + the whyte fight was ruined by the wrong man getting the W.

Fun night of great boxing, the brawl in Chisora-Whyte, the prospect battle in Charlo-Williams, and the sweet science of bruising aka world level combat in Mares-Cuellar.
Even though I was pissed at that fgot Molina, it didn't ruin the night.

It was a surprisingly good night of boxing
Not the best
But nights like this are few and far between
Notice how the UFC talk has died down
LONG LIVE BOXING!!!!!!!!!
Two months ago, I got my wife tickets to the Nutcracker because it's the one thing she really wanted to do. I had no idea it was going to be on the best fight night of the year. During the whole ballet I had visions of boxers fighting in my head.
I just spent the last 3 hours youtubing all the fights I missed. Thankfully, I managed to avoid any spoilers. Sucks to have not watched them happen live but I managed to see them all and earn major wife credit so it wasn't entirely bad.

Capping off my night watching John "the drunken master" Molina stumble around the ring like he just finished a barrel of moonshine made it the perfect evening.

Can we at least agree that this was the night of the year? | BoxingScene Community
