If the rematch won't happen, it's not good on ward's image in the end, because all people can remember is how easily he can be outbox in that fight, the jabs he ate like a buffet and the karate palm strike that did him in the second round. I don't think ward want to end it that way, he is a proud man and everyone can see that. He would want a rematch and try to utterly dominate kovalev to erase any doubt that he is in contention as the best pound for pound in his era, otherwise, all those years of cultivating respect and honor to his ability is in risk of just withering away just like that. yep. you have a very good point.

The fight wasn't even 2 weeks ago and people are already claiming duck. Cmon now No one is claiming a duck....But if ward somehow finds a way to cancel/fight another LHW or delay it....It is clearly a duck then.

I predicted ward to win, but Kovalev clearly won in a very controversial fight, If the fight does not push through, more likely than not ward to live of that controversial win. We have no choice but hold him in the same standard we hold our top tier fighters. discuss. Agreed. The rematch clause was done the right way it seems, I don't see him finding a way out of it, but if he does, and/or if this takes longer than 6 months to materialize and it's his fault, then that's unforgivable and I will be ruthless on a fighter who up until now I really have no problem with - I was rooting for Kovalev to win but I've always considered Ward top talent and a class act - this would erase all of that for me. ward's latest statement made it sound like they are gonna make it hard to negotiate the rematch, let's make that clear now. It could be posturing, it could be legitimate excuse building, time will tell. Regardless, tipping your hand about ducking/delaying a fight beforehand doesn't give you a pass. It's still pathetic and he will catch severe heat if he fights anyone but Kovalev next.

Finally scored the fight, had Kovalev winning by 2 points, but there were many rounds that could have gone either way so i wouldnt call the fight a robbery. Both fighters had room for improvement and neither proved they are the best LHW in the world much less p4p king. An immediate rematch is necessary and whoever tries to avoid it should be called out on it.

Kathy Duva was on the HBO podcast and said the rematch clause already had the terms set for the rematch should it happen. Everything but the site I assume. I honestly don't think Kovalev would care if it was in Oakland ... She also said RNS wanted the fight in NYC but she pushed for Vegas but would be happy to have part two on the east coast... I'm there should that happen...
