Loma v Vargas

vargas is a solid fight for loma, but won't really test him, nor will it really raise the profile of loma.. Ideally, if I'm loma i want higher profile fights, like a salido rematch, gamboa.. Selby i would rather see fight frampton If loma fights 3 times next year, i would be perfectly fine with it being vs salido 2, vargas, gamboa.. I think those would really raise the profile of loma, then in 2018 could target crawford or manny.... Would love to see loma fight mikey garcia, though it will probably never happen

Outside of AJ who gets regular dates, which Hearn fighter is getting prioritised for fight dates? the Sky/Hearn deal has almost killed boxing on that channel and Boxnation/Warren have been far superior in putting on fights and getting their guys out there for titles. With the BT deals, it's only getting worse. I just hope Selby and DeGale come out of this ok and carry on with bigger fights down the line. Kal yafai, Luke Campbell, Callum Smith to name a few. From interviews on IFL etc, it seems if they want to fight they just get onto Eddie for a date. I'm not trying to say Matchroom are the best promoters in the world or anything, I just feel they might not be the ones to blame for Selby's inactivity. He's a money maker for Hearn and he'd want to make some money from putting him in fights.

I think Sosa would give him more trouble. Vargas fights at Loma's range. He'd get utterly picked apart. Sosa would press the issue a bit more I could see it this way but Vargas, especially if he beats Salido in a rematch becomes very interesting and a genuinely big fight builds around that story. I don't really care to see a Salido rematch, he's older and Lomo's bigger and more complete now. I expect a very one-sided affair. Vargas would be a logical fight, but GB might not be willing to give him up. I'd even be fine if Vargas or Lomo fought the winner of Corrales/Sosa and the other fought Pedraza for a final unification fight. But that sh*t never happens, especially if a Haymon fighter's involved. The fight that really excites me is Lomachenko vs Linares. There's already talks of Lomachenko moving up to fight Flanagan next year. Of course you also have Easter, Mikey Garcia, Verdejo and Gamboa in that division. LW could be coming back to life, which is important for the sport. Loma at lightweight is a long way away. I'd prefer he stay at 130 and clear out the other champions. If he must go to 135 then he should fight 3 times next year, Flanagan, Linares and the one of the other title holders there. but Loma needs to be smart and realise he is the perfect size for super feather and could build one of the truly great legacies at the weight. Imagine how good 130 gets when Frampton, LSC and Selby move up there. Lightweight is filled with older names who are starting to fade and young guys who are untested.

My wish-list for 2017 is Salido II, Corrales/Uchiyama and Yuri Gamboa at the end of the year after he's had a couple of tune-ups. Sosa, Vargas, Berchelt and Valdez would all be fine too. Linares would be great. Flanagan, meh. I assume Mikey Garcia, Pedraza and Easter Jr aren't doable but they'd be great too I'd prefer him to clean out 130 before moving up again though. Unification is more impressive to me than picking off the WBO titlist in another division But the main thing is, no more tune-ups. No more Koasichas. It's a waste of time. I know Loma only wants the best, it's Arum that worries me

You only have to look at Hearn's stable to see how often all of them fight. His shows always have a good undercard of "name" fighters, the quality of the fights however, not always great. It seems the option is there to fight and appears it's being blocked and the writer is insinuating Haymon in the article. And it's not the first time, lots of Haymon's other boxers have complained about inactivity and not being able to get a fight scheduled. At no point does Hearn state it's Haymon's fault but I can understand the sentiment. One fight left on the Matchroom deal, I guess Haymon is trying to schedule a low risk fight and once it's over, he'll have Selby to himself. Thing is, Selby needs to man up and "damn it, I wana fight already". Either way, what I don't understand is, what's Hearns role in all this? Exactly why I want the fight. Vargas is a strong , physical warrior and I wanna see how far Loma has come in the last 2 years. From what I've seen in his last 2 fights, Loma has been using his forearms and holding better, plus pushing guys behind the head. These are all pro tactics he had no idea about back in the Salido fight. Very interesting match up. I'm with you, def the fight I want to see next for the both of them more so than the rematches with Salido (both guys) Vargas tank is also very high, dude has stamina for days also pure boxers always seem to have problems with volume punchers/high pressure fighters, just look at Mayweather's most debatable wins/fights def hype as hell to see it and more so since Loma himself said he wants him next like I said I'm a bit bias but wouldn't be mad if Loma beats him, the guy is gifted

This is the obvious fight to make, unless Vargas or Loma himself are re-matching Salido. Vargas is a solid warrior who is basic but he can punch and he is aggressive. This is the physical type of fight Loma will need to show his mettle in the heat of fire. Also, imo anyway, this would define the number one guy in the division beyond any date. I was hoping Selby would be busier this year and then move up to super feather but Hearn and his promotion have been terrible this year so Selby has been stuck on the shelf. Selby v Loma at 130 is the fight I'm hoping for next year. Hearn has been trying to get Selby very active but apparently Haymon is blocking it.
