He went through hell and back in that fight, never looked for a away out, not 1 headbutt or elbow..He adjusted and found a way to battle his way to the end.. He didnt run and the clinches were BY BOTH FIGHTERS!!! Both showed why they are 2 of the very best in boxing
There were about 3-4 rounds that were very hard to score yet the judges gave every single one of those rounds to Ward.
I watched round 10 a few times and each and every time I give it to Kov.
yeah it could have went either way
round 10 was very hard to judge!!!!

After watching it twice I scored it either 7-5 Kov or 6-6 with Kov still winning due to the KD in round 2.
Definitely a close fight and at best a draw but cant see how Ward won as many rounds as the judges gave him. Especially round 10.

I mean if someone didn't already have a lot of respect for Andre Ward they will likely never respect him. Awesome win and he fought his ass off to turn that fight around, but there are some people you just can't reach.
Exactly. One particular fan here loved Ricky Hatton and his holding. A lot of others loved Postol and his excessive holding. But hate Ward lol.
How can you not respect Ward. A year ago, he was supposedly afraid to fight KOv. During the fight he forced Kov to hold/clinch him because he was trying to get inside to fight Kov in a way no other opponent has.
Come on fellas. Ward's performance would be applauded if the judges gave Kov the fight. I had Kov winning. Even if you disagree with the judges scores you should be able to give Ward the credit he earned for the way he performed. Kov does as well.

:lol1:
Didn't run? Fuck right off. And Ward initiated nearly all clinches. His typical reaction to Kovalev getting close was to bow his head down and charge forward.
How can you not respect Ward after this? Let alone the fact that so many refused to believe he would fight Kovalev at all. He not only did so, he made a big comeback after a terrible start.
I respect wards ability always have although I don't like the usual dirty stuff that he DOES do because I just think it's unnecessary.
I don't respect what's been coming out of his mouth postfight though, he lost the fight and got a gift.
Be respectful and just say it was a close fight and I'll do a rematch and leave it at that
Ward already said that, now it's on to selling the rematch.
BTW, it's strange to see you calling out someone for being disrespectful when you pretend to be some silly ass, stereotypical and offensive character most of the time......
Ward was given the benefit of the doubt in all cases.just look at the official judges score cards.
In close rounds would you rather Kov given the benefit of the doubt , and what if the judges scored 3 body shots you didnt even see let alone acknowledge , then where is the benefit of doubt .
Like I said its hard for most fans to not favor aggression over defence , points are also scored for making that aggression miss for counting it etc , what Im saying is there is finer points to scoring that come into it , it was a close fight it could have gone either way .
he didnt do anything to sway my opinion against him being a dirty fighter. i felt that a lot of the clinching and wrestling was because ward does indeed dart in with his head.
however, he did some nice work on the body and he had some interesting body shots from irregular positions. i always appreciate good body punching. i aint gonna root for ward anytime soon though.
Srsly .. to compare that bout to anything from the ams is absurd at least in todays ams
It was a joke cuse some ppl try to make a war from this fight when it clearly wasnt one.
It was a very close scoring fight in the judges eyes , the average fan if they are watching a tactical fight 95% of them will say the aggressor won when in professional boxing there is more going on , fans have always found it hard to give a fight to the defensive guy in pro boxing you can win fights on defense .
Like Ive said all over , the fight was close it could have gone either way and I wouldnt have cared less .
There was no robbery here the fight was close scoring it .

I have respect to his ring achivments but its one thing to woke away with controversial decision ,and other thing is to talk **** after and lie ,no respect for it
He fought a good fight, but came up short in my eyes and the eyes of the world. He was just given a gift decision in his home country.

What made it even more impressive, like I said before Ward has slipped significantly - look at the difference with him against Froch vs last night, the Brand fight, and Barrera fights.
He is clearly past his best.
Classic fight.
Its possible hes lost a step but I think we're not giving Kovalev enough credit here. Kov is bigger than Froch and a better boxer so he would have more success against Ward. We should see how Ward does against a good but not great fighter and see if he truly has regressed or just fought another great fighter in Kov.
I was a neutral, felt Kovalev edged the fight but there's really not much between the two. Both excellent fighters.
If anything, i think Kovalev showed he is a brilliant boxer too because he outboxed Ward a fair bit in the fight. We all knew he was more than just a puncher, but i think he showed he's even better than many people thought.
I don't know how anybody can't respect Ward anyway. He absolutely cleaned out SMW beating the likes of Froch and Kessler along the way. The division was red hot when he was the proven number 1. Even if he did get a bit of a gift last night, he's still the real deal.
Good post :hail:
