Boxing now is somewhat getting boring, when fighters choose and handpick opponents and setting the leverage in PPV and ticket sales. I think most fighters now prefer to be defensive rather than all slugfest less defense like the Fab four era.
So if your getting into boxing what will you choose, an offensive fighter or a defensive fighter. Discuss :boxing:
BOTH! Nobody forces anybody to watch, you don't like a style DON'T WATCH!
The best style is a WINNING STYLE! You do what ever it takes to WIN and if it just so happen to be entertaining than great for us the fans but NO FIGHTER should ever sacrifice winning to be "ENTERTAINING". Not a Boxing Gym around the world who teaching fighters to do that...NOT ONE!
I always tell people to go spar, I dare you to go to a Local Boxing Gym and go try that "ENTERTAINING SLUG IT OUT" Bullsh1t yourself and you will understand why Defense is just as if NOT MORE Important than Offense!]
That is like telling someone to stand in front of Gun Fire, don't Duck and take cover than is boring, Take On The Gun Fire like Luke Cage or Wolverine because it is more entertaining :nonono:
Boxing have hands down the dumbest Fanbase of all Sports and that is why the Sport is going to complete sh1t and it is declining rapidly and will continue to do so!
Nobody pays to see a guy raise his arm to block a punch or jog around in a circle for 12 rds. You got into boxing because you saw a KO on tv.
Stop being hipsters.
I prefer a seek and destroy type of fighter who uses his offense as a defense to get to his opponents and unleash.
Nothing worse than watching a defensive fighter who refuses to engage and instead pecks at his opponents with jabs and scoring punches for 12 rounds.
Offense = Roberto Duran, Manny Pacquiao, Henry Armstrong.
Defense = Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather, Willie Pep.
You can put Duran in both categories. He's widely considered one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time.
