Honest question - Are you allowed in the ring to backhand someone with your boxing gloves instead of just punching them? I don't know if I've ever seen anyone do it...
I'm asking for a reason. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't technically allowed.
Every time a boxer does it they get warned by the ref.

i dont think its allowed. Hamed tried that **** and got warned for it.
seems like a great way to get ktfo by a counter
there's no slower weaker motion you can perform with your arm
It could prove to be pretty effective if it was a spinning backhand, though...
A back hand blow is absolutely illegal in boxing. All boxers know this and don't throw a back hand blow anymore than they would throw a kick or and elbow or a head butt. The referee would give you one or possibly two warnings and then start taking points away.
You have to understand, my man. Most of these guys on this forum got into boxing like two years ago.
To answer the question, no, we dont do backhands in boxing. Lol
I started watching boxing when i was a month old and started to box myself at 2 months old. These cats just don't even know brah.
its not allowed lmfao, its not my opinion its in the rules. You do see boxers do it from time to time and the ref warn them against it.

watch fury v chisora 2 whenever fury goes southpaw, he's constantly slapping that jab out

it just looks lazy to be honest, theres no way a 'b1tchslap' will be as effective as a ramrod jab thrown properly, but it's likely a bit strange to defend against, as its coming from the angle of a backhand, it could be followed up quite effectively by a backhand to the body
you cannot backhand someone in the ring. Watch boxing Much?

ive heard refs tell a guy not to do it which makes no sense. the glove hits the face. thats the concept of boxing.
I think it's considered unsportsmanlike due to old rules (bareknuckle?) or something like that. Boxers still do it though, mostly when they "flick" their jabs. Haven't seen anyone do it with power, more like a distraction technique.
ITs weird, in boxing you should be allowed to use your fists anyway you wish, they should allow back hands and spinning back fists to be honest.
It will make the fight more exciting and intriguing.

It's against the rules in amateurs but I think it's technically legal in the pros.
I wouldn't do it because you don't have the power beheind the backhand as you would with a well turned punch and if he rolls that hand he could counter you badly to the chin or body and drop you.
Guys like Mayorga though, wouldn't put it past them to pull that off.
I think i've seen a backhand or something similar in some old school boxing footage but can't remember the fight.
