With his main rival Fury (age 28) out of the picture for the foreseeable future there are still some signature wins available but I have a feeling he won't get credit afterwards because of their age....
Wlad (41 by the time they fight)- looks like happening early next year.
Ortiz (38 by the time they fight)- signing with Matchroom makes this realistic.
Haye (36 by the time they fight)- could also happen next year.
It's possible that all 3 happen in 2017 but i'm pretty certain at least 2 of the 3 will happen. Looks like a great year on paper but in hindsight especially if he KO's them in easy looking fashion people might point to the age of these guys to discredit him.
So would you give Joshua credit for any of these wins or would he need to beat guys closer to his age like Parker and Wilder to earn your respect?
A lot of HW's don't peak until their mid 30s and like it or not these 3 guys are some of the best in the division. Nothing wrong with extinguishing the old guard before moving on to the next generation of fights. All 3 of these fights would be enormous events and fantastic fights
Haye himself was the ultimate grandad beater. Pretty much everyone in his HW run already semi-retired (Ruiz, Valuev, Harrison, Barrett).
People didn't seem to complain much about that so I don't see why they would complain about Joshua fighting a slightly younger, superior list.
He was never considered a clear number 1 though and had to fight one of the Klitschko's to prove he was, which he lost.
With AJ he could find himself beating these guys and being number 1 ranked, people could say 'hang on, he gets gifted a title shot then beats all these old guys including Fury's leftover's' and still not be sold on him.
But yeah those wins would be far superior to Haye's list you mentioned.
With the way things went this year I can understand you being discouraged but....
Bear in mind at least top heavyweight fights were being signed and scheduled like Wilder-Povetkin, Wlad-Fury 2. It just turned out that unfortunate events caused these fights to be cancelled.
If these kind of fights weren't being agreed to in the first place it would be a much bigger issue. Hopefully injuries and drug test issues won't ruin some of these top heavyweight fights in 2017.
I'm with you there. Fans are thirsty as hell for a good fight in this division - please let 2017 be the year!
At the risk of being overly negative - the current state of boxing indicates that none of those fights are going to happen in 2017.
Zero faith.

El Mata Viejos (old man killer) monicker is already owned by Canelo :boxing:

He is a heavyweight so it is not like he can jump divisions so he has to fight who he has to fight..i just hope we get to see him fight Wilder..that would be explosive
I actually forgot about Wilder, that's another great fight hopefully that can happen.
