Him Manny and Floyd are all ATGs. I rank Bernard's accomplishments higher. I understand some will disagree.
He’s broken the significant records of all-time greats (including Carlos Monzon and George Foreman), he was undisputed champ at middleweight, a three-time light heavyweight titleholder (including linear champ status), and he arguably challenged himself more than any other “elite” boxer of the past 15 years.
He never ducked an opponent and fought all of the greats. He took on the greats in the division when he went higher up.
The big think Hopkins lacks compared with the Manny's, the RJJ's and the Floyds of this world is dominant/clear wins over great fighters.
Manny has em.
Mayweather has them.
Jones has them.
Hopkins just doesnt. Not at the time he beat them. PEople will shout Tarver but he is not a great fighter imo.
Whats more Pac, MAyweather and Jones more than match Hopkins for the second tier of wins too.
Hopkins is firmly behind them imo
Hopkins has a better resume than Roy, outside of his loss to him, which he avenged, albeit at a past prime date.
Yeah, I can feel you on that, Hopkins had more people to fight at 160 and he definitely took the hard road.
I still think Roy is better in terms of talent and accomplishments, but you can never take anything away from B-Hop, which is why he's my 2nd fav. active fighter.
He beat Hopkins and Toney who are Hall of Fame fighters themselves.
From 1993-2004, dude was the greatest fighter on the planet.
Dude went from middleweight to heavyweight champ.
I just don't see how you can deny the guy.

Klitchko is in that... people may have disliked his style but the man made huge accomplishments with what he was given. Being at the top at heavyweight for as long as he did no matter the lack of elite opposition was great.
Roy is probably my favorite of all time, but he can't be ranked higher than the other two, IMO. His lack of longevity at the top level in comparison to the other two needs to be accounted for.
In his prime years, though? Head-to-head I have him beating anyone.

Um no.
1. Roy Jones Jr.
2. Manny Pacquiao
3. Bernard Hopkins

I think he is an all time great right now. He just happens to still be fighting and fighting unbelievably well for a man over 50 years old. He holds the all time record for consecutive middleweight title defenses with 20 successful title defenses in a row. He was past 40 when he finally lost the middleweight title to Taylor in a fight many thought he won. He also holds the record for being the oldest man ever to win a world title. If he isn't an all time great then nobody is an all time great. He accomplished all this while getting off to an extremely late start in pro boxing due to being in prison. He turned pro at 30 years old. If he could have turned pro at age 20 he could have done much more than the great things he did with his late start. Since getting out of prison he completely turned his life around for the best. He has never even had a traffic ticket since leaving prison. He is a great roll model for anyone who did bad things and wants to live a better life and be a better person.
he was actually 23 when he made his debut in 1988.

Great post.....
Are we considering Jones Jr an active fighter at this point?Jones is still an active fighter and one of the greatest fighters of all time in my opinion and probably everybody's opinion. It's too bad he is just a shell of his old self now. Jones and Hopkins should both retire for health reasons. Older men are even more likely to suffer damage from hard head blows than younger men.The effects of brain damage suffered in the ring may not show up until years later. It sent Floyd Patterson to an early death and no doubt many other boxers who took too many hard head punches in too many fights over too many years. I love boxing but the human head wasn't really designed to be punched. It's a smart fighter who gets out early while they are still in their late prime to keep the total head punches they take to a minimum.

Technically, yeah.
Heck, RJJ is going to be "active" while B-Hop retires.
Any ATG conversation like this needs to include RJJ, simple.
You're crazy. You may not like his style, but dude is a warrior. He beats any active fighter from 147-168 in his prime.
Seriously...there's no one from 147-160 who can beat (prime) him at 160 right now.
hell no, hopkins is extremely overrated. Was an all time great at boring fans, was his speciality. Not even close to a pacquiao or mayweather
Says a fan of...You know who :pat:
