Don't forget Jarret Hurd.
You can throw Erickson Lubin in there as well. 154 has a ton of talent floating around at the moment.
I'm really excited for this fight, but more because I'm glad J-Rock is getting his opportunity. I don't see this fight as all that competitive tbh. J-Rock is going to destroy him on the inside, easy work.
Lol you can't name a single fighter of note that he's beaten but he supposedly deserves big fights because he called people out.
I reckon I should be king of the world because that's what I want.

Smh what a load of bollocks
Hes getting the big fight because he worked hard making his way up the IBF rankings.
He used the IBF because he knew it was the only org where he could guarantee a title shot if he made it to being mandatory.
How can he get a big name win until a big name fights him?
I cant name the fighters he has beaten because no one has gotten in the ring with him. Hes been calling out world class fighters to their face and they havent fought him.
If you are comparing Williams, a highly rated prospect who looks to have world class skills, to someone like Jo Jo Dan then i dont know what to tell you. He is leagues above that type of fighter and he will prove it win or lose vs Charlo

I love how you are speaking so confidently about a subject you obviously know nothing about about.
Williams has been chasing the top fighters for years now but has been placed firmly in the 'who needs him' bracket by pretty much everyone. He called Trout out to his face and Trout ducked him when the fight was ready to be made to fight Charlo (on top of that had the audacity to tell Charlo to 'get j rock for me' after the fight like a *****)
While he was waiting for the big name opponent he fought final eliminater after final eliminater to get himself up the ibf rankings and was eventually granted mando status so Charlo could no longer avoid the fight.
No we are here this is no way a one sided beat down to anyone who has watched both guys box or understands boxing. This is one of the best fights between pre prime fighters that could be made in the sport right now and i genuinely cant decide who i think will win
Well-put. Keep in mind that many here are trying to downplay 154 because they are obsessed with Golovkin and... well, you know how that goes.
This is an outstanding, competitive fight from what is about to become the hottest division in the sport. We've got two Charlos, Williams, Lara, Andrade, Canelo, Cotto, among others. Will be a joy to see who rises to the top at 154. I just hope we can keep getting fights like this made.
Did I say Williams didnt call anyone out? What's his calling anyone out got to do with it?
Please name me 2 world class fighters he has beaten.
You do realise the IBF probably has the worst mandos in boxing fight now? I assume you ranked Brooks mandos too because they fought eliminators too.

I can't agree with this. This is the very same thing people criticize fighters for as well.
Case in point...
We have a fighter in Canelo Alvarez who has proven that he is elite. People are critizing him for not fighting GGG until next year.
These same people will say that a fighter who is willing to step his competition up and fight a higher caliber fighter (JRock) doesn't deserve to fight a certain or opponent or doesn't deserve a title shot.
Which one is it?
If he had done something more to earn the fight then, yeah sure, he should be fighting for the title. Plus, it's not like this Charlo can't have better opponents. Are you telling me Williams is the very best opponent or even the second or 3rd best opponents Charlo can find out there?
Canelo is receiving criticism because at one stage he has THE LINEAL middleweight crown and did not fight the best available middleweight out there, while openly calling him out. Not only that, he avoided the rest of the division and went back down to 154 to fight that divisions worst champion.
LIke I mentioned before, the top guys at 154, barring Canelo, are all run by one man and yet, in 18 months of these guys being at or near the top of their division, not one of these fights have been made. Andrade v either Charlo should have happened by now or Lara v one of these guys.
Edit: I've been dragged ofc by nonsensical discussion. The question of this thread is why are people sleeping on this fight? The answer is simple, no one cares of nor knows of Williams and it's not the best possible fight that could have been made in the division.

That's just not true or equatable. Lomachenko has shown exceptional skill against above average opposition (I've criticised his opposition but even at this stage it is better than Williams). On top of all that, lomachenko has a proven am pedigree which has set a better stage for him in the pros.
Williams has done nothing to warrant a title shot and isn't even in the top 15 of 2 sanctioning bodies but magically finds himself as no. 1 contender to the IBF title right when Charlo needed an opponent.
Trying to promote this fight as anything than a one sided beat down is stretching the facts. However, if Williams is competitive or even looks to win, it probably says more about the so called champion than the challenger.

What i'm trying to get across is that though JRock hasn't beaten anyone special yet, based on what we've seen when viewing his skill-set alone, he's ready for the likes of a Charlo.
If Lomachenko had started out building up his career as a pro in similar fashion to say Gary Russell, though he was blowing through completion we could clearly see that he had a skill set that would likely exceed at an elite level...
Of course that becomes knull and void if he gets sparked out in the first few seconds...which is unlikely given what we've seen from a skill perspective....

what do you mean exactly?

He looks the park. The same reason no one questions a Lomachenko fight. At some point you just look the part. No questions asked.
what do you mean exactly?
Williams is the next great fighter in the game.
He will rule 154 AND 160.
Yep he is a creeper. He may not be the fastest or the most powerful, but technically he got it down and boy is very well schooled for a young fighter.
Let em grow and GGG will have somebody to worry about.
Im predicting it right now. Julian Williams beats GGG when it happens.
yeah agree with this completely. Im not excited about it in the slightest, and why should i be? world number 6 v world number 11. Will probably watch it if im not doing anything else or if im bored but im hardly counting down the days to it. i could barely name a fighter that these two have beaten between them other than trout.
Your a flaming homosexual
I honestly think your just a lame troll and don't even believe what you write, which make you even more pathetic that you write non-sense just to get a reaction from people
This fight is the sh.it, point blank. 2 undefeated prime 154 guys on the come up with the winner serving notices to the rest in the division. They aren't fighting another top 10 -15 guy on the downslope like many in the sport tend to do to build their rep. Anyone critical of or not excited for this fight Is lame especially if your on a boxing forum. This is what the sports about
They could go the Anthony Joshua/Kell Brook route and beat on over matched stiffs for years while creeping up in the rankings by default , or they can slug it out against another prime top notch fighter and see who comes out on top and earns their spot.
Seriously though, who is J Rock? Up until a couple fights ago he was fighting journeymen and now we're supposed to be excited for him fighting one of the charlos? Why? Explain it to me and dont jus stay "ma ***** can punch yo".
Considering these guys are all controlled by Haymon and fighting on the same series of shows, Charlo v Lara should be happening instead and the other bro v Andrade. NO excuses.
This is getting slept on because it deserves it.
He looks the park. The same reason no one questions a Lomachenko fight. At some point you just look the part. No questions asked.
I'll be happy to talk about it. I think Jrock is overrated by many and Jermall will win by KO in the early rounds.
People dont really know or even talk about Williams so how can he be overrated?
Anybody who understands boxing or have ring experience can clearly see that Williams has **** load of potential.
