I used to hate UFC but in the last year i started getting into it because a few of my friends love it. Obviously i dont like it anywhere close to boxing but after hearing that GGG is off Dec 10th card, Klit vs Joshua isnt happening, Danny Garcia gets another cherry pick.. I am getting quite fed up with boxing. I buy most of the big ppv's but enough is enough already. As fans of boxing we don't deserve this **** anymore. meanwhile in the UFC the top guys are constantly fighting top guys and you never quite know who will win.
Thank god for Kovalev and Ward, and Lomochenko Walters otherwise this year will go down as crap. We should be getting fights like Canelo GGG, GGG jacobs, Pacquiao Crawford, Pacquiao vs Vargas etc instead we get Canelo vs Khan, smith GGG vs Brook and other crap mismatches. Like step the **** up already because boxing is becoming an embarrassing circus that I am getting frustrated being a part of already. Seems liek 9 out of 10 top fighters are constantly cherry picking and ducking. The next big UFC even is in my hometown NY and the card is stacked from top to bottom with ridiculous fights. Whens the last time boxing had a stacked card? Boxing hardly gives us a top dog vs top dog main event let alone a stacked card with top fighters.:lame:
Sorry I just had to vent as I read about GGG not fighting on Dec 10 and Jacobs trainer saying Jacobs needs 12 weeks to train for GGG. GROW SOME ****ING BALLS already this is the fight game not table tennis.
Haymon following the UFC model was just something short-sighted people said because they always need something to compare it to. He's not and the UFC "model" isn't the way, the truth and the light. Plenty of ways to skin a cat.
Boxing fans are unbelievably patient, at least the real ones. They would not stop hoping that good matchups will eventually happen; the best will eventually fight the best. Fans have been gobbling up whatever they are fed and assume good fights will come eventually.
I don't equate boxing to UFC. They're different to me.
their main event fight hasnt really live up to the hype as of late. and i know in boxing we get this also, but lately a lot of the "big fights" in the ufc has turn into a total let down.
and a lot of the old fighters that i used to love to watch is not fighting anymore and the new fighters is just too technical that when they fight eachother, you get 5 minutes of them rolling on the ground trying to submit eachother but because their skill set is equal to one another it just goes on like this for the whole fight.
I've noticed this too. It's almost like the UFC hype machine is too good, and because a fight in MMA can end in an instant the "big" fighters fight way more carefully than the undercard guys going in with something to prove.
Boxing has fights like this too, but in boxing they're still standing and throwing punches when the fight becomes defensive and technical.
ufc just knows how to do it. there's something for everyone because each card is stacked.
first of all there are only 8 divisions and in ufc 205 they have
featherweight champ fighting lightweigth champ
I noticed weight classes are different in UFC. Welterweight in boxing is more like super middleweight in UFC, if I'm not mistaken.

welterweight champ vs #2(champ just beat #1 time for a tune up? lol boxing)
strawweight champ vs #2 strawweight(champ just beat #1 time for a tune up? lol)
#2 middleweight vs #4 middleweight
#5 welterweight vs #6 welterweight
#1 womens bantamweight vs #8 bantamweight
and that is just on the ppv portion. there are some good fights on the free portion. boxing just sucks.
Explain to me how the UFC's biggest ever gate is 55,000+ from UFC 129 headlined by GSP, Jose Aldo, and Lyoto Machida in 2011 brought in only 3,000+ more fans than a Canelo vs Liam Smith PPV that sold 52,000 month or so ago.

Boxing is slowly becoming the new horse racing. It won't ever die, but other than a few major races, does anyone really care?
I find myself less interested in the sport and watching more MMA. Maybe its a combination of burnout and the fact that boxing is a splintered mess.
Why would it die for me when Manny lost to Floyd? wouldnt it have died when Marquez KO Manny? you make no sense.
I predicted Marquez to KO Manny and I was right, I know boxing. I never bet against Floyd.
Imdazed now I know why I have you on block you another black power floymo who thinks everyone is a pactar.
Why do I always read your posts in a woman's voice?

Why block him? Are you really that butt-hurt? :bottle:
Boxing died for him when Manny lost to Mayweather.

I've yet to have anyone explain to me how the UFC's biggest ever gate is 55,000+ from UFC 129 headlined by GSP, Jose Aldo, and Lyoto Machida in 2011 brought in only 3,000+ more fans than a Canelo vs Liam Smith PPV that sold 52,000 month or so ago.
UFC 129 had a $12M gate. Below is the list of remaining largest gates in UFC history.
UFC 194 (Aldo vs. McGregor) - $10,006,249
UFC 196 (McGregor vs. Diaz) - $8,100,000 (approx.)
UFC 189 (McGregor vs. Mendes) - $7,201,648
UFC 148 (Silva vs. Sonnen II) - $6,901,655
UFC 168 (Weidman vs. Silva II) - $6,238,792.50
I am a boxing fan first and always. The MMA fighters have improved a lot an I enjoy some MMA fights. They can be very exciting and brutal fights and I can understand how boxing could lose some fans to MMA. If it happens so be it. Both sports will still exist for fans to watch one or the other or both. I will continue to watch and enjoy both sports. As far as the best fighting the best goes there is a major difference between the two sports. In boxing the fighters have independence and power. They are free to make their own choices on who they fight and promoters can't make them fight anybody. They probably average making 10 or 20 times as much money per fight compared to MMA fighters. In the MMA promoters like White have all the power. They order the fighters who to fight. The fighters either do as they are told or leave that organization. They can't just say no I won't fight that guy. They would no longer get any fights at all.
Boxing will never die. But we all know it's a piece of sh1t right now. Boxing will always be my favorite combat sport to watch even though I'm watching way more UFC right about now. They're killing while boxing is killing itself. Smfh I'll never stop watching boxing but the fan base for the UFC is growing and growing. And it's not growing the same way for boxing. It'll never die like I said but it's losing a lot of ground everyday.
I honestly view them as two separate sports rather than being in direct competition with each other. UFC has already grown very popular and I know far more people that watch UFC than boxing. But these people weren't watching boxing in the first place. Most of these people (the ones I know) are just wanting to see some violence and are casual fans who show up at friends homes to drink and see whoever is fighting that night. Maybe they know them, maybe they dont. The outcomes dont matter much, just the show. Cool. Fair enough. Not for me, but I understand the appeal. I enjoy watching great fighters careers unfold for many years. 40 or 50 fights over a decade or more. In UFC you have guys who were names at one point with horrendous records by the end. Randy Couture ended up 19-11. Chuck Liddell was 21-8. Rampage is 37-11. Dan Henderson was 32-15. I get that its is because they are put in tough at the UFC, but it makes for very short careers at the top. Then they become names to feed to the next guy. That doesn't interest me. Plus Dana. He basically treats his fighters like slaves.
well ive got to disagree, im sure i see more competitive and big fights on a regular basis with UFC. ANd the cards are much more stacked thats for sure. Bispings a good example of what i was talking about, regularly fights top fighters and even with many losses hes still fought himself back to be champ.
If you say so...
I've seen just as many crap MMA fights as I've seen crap boxing fights...
im not talking about ticket sales etc, when have i said ufc is bigger than boxing. Seem to be trying to counteract points that ive never made.my original post is regarding matchmaking, undefeated records etc. ANd add to it, fighters willing to take more risks in UFC and prospects arent moved along as slowly
The best fight the best in boxing with the same frequency as the UFC guys...
THey put on around 3-4 big shows a year...same with boxing.
We've had Porter vs Thurman. We're getting Loma vs Walters and Kovalev vs Ward.
UFC just had MW Champ bisping go life and death with a washed up, 45 year old, out the the top 10 fighter in Dan Henderson.
That's not the best fighting the best....
im anything but a UFC fanboy lol. ANd youve completely ignored my point, didnt say ufc is more popular. Am saying theres a hell of a lot boxing could learn from it. And its popularity is seriously shooting up in UK, mcgregor v diaz had just as much hype as any boxing match from this year.
The top boxers draw more fans than the top UFC guys. The top boxers make more than the top UFC guys. What can can the UFC teach boxing?
