None of these fighters are huge draws in the sport right now period...No one is doing monster numbers at all. So why are people on here arguing over numbers instead of just wanting fighters to take concessions to make themselves a huge star?
Fight the best, take the risks and you will be rewarded..say what you want about Mayweather and Pacquiao..but they went through hell to get to where they are in this sport...They both bend over backwards and were the b-sides in order to get what they wanted in this sport. These fighters are spoiled little b1tches who want everything handed to them without any risk at all.
I think he had VERY LITTLE to do with Floyd's success. The only people who don't see what Haymon has actually done to boxing are either trolls or just Mayweather c*ck gobblers.
Ellerbe was the brains of it all.
The continued faith people have in Haymon is utterly bizarre at this point.
He's basically dined off Mayweather's career for 10 years. Floyd is the only success he's ever had, and even then, we can't say for sure that Floyd himself didn't engineer his own career path, or most of it.
Let's analyse Haymon properly.
HBO - after subjecting us to the Andre Berton BAD years and having free reign, HBO stopped working with him. He left them in a worse state than when he arrived.
Showtime - remember how amazing Showtime were when Hershman was running things, and not Haymon's laptop Espinoza? Look at them now. Look at them for the last 3 years.
Golden Boy - Haymon used Golden Boy to get dates (when Oscar had enough clout at HBO to have secured dates), making sure that none of his fighters were under contract.
PBC - has pissed up $400m up the wall, with marginal gains. For some reason, people want this success story to continue.
Now, what do all these companies have in common? When they've had the golden touch of Al Haymon on them, things have turned to badly (or in PBC's case, started off bad and stayed in there).
I think he had VERY LITTLE to do with Floyd's success. The only people who don't see what Haymon has actually done to boxing are either trolls or just Mayweather c*ck gobblers.
Was he really offered 3 million?
I doubt it, but for sure over 2m. Maybe 2.5, a sh1t ton of money to be passing on, for a mando challenger who can't even draw in his hometown
The most egregious example of this are PBC fighters.
Garcia, who has been tuning up since Matthyse, and still arguably got beat twice.
Jacobs, who doesn't want "no chump change" and wants huge money to fight Golovkin, when he has done nothing to build this fight (while Golovkin has sold out arenas in LA, NYC, London). Oh, and now an interim fight.
Adonis, who jumped ship to Showtime when a fight with Kovalev was all agreed, and who has somehow avoid facing Kov, Hopkins, Pascal, Beterbiev during his legendary reign as champion.
Broner, who told us after the Khabib fight that from now on, he will fight who he wants to, and not whom the fans think he should. Next up - Theophane and Burns.
Qullin, who seemingly spends his days now telling Golovkin move up to fight Ward, spend most of his career racking up big days as an undercard fighter, who finally took a tough fight in Jacobs and got KTFO - oh yeah, after he gave up his belt rather than face Korobov.
If you want to understand why the boxing landscape is like it is, look at your beloved Al Haymon, Larry. Or are you going to keep clinging to Mayweather as some sort of crutch? Mayweather is gone but sadly, he left that fraud Haymon with us, who has now f*cked up American boxing scene royally.
Danny Garcia's career pisses me off so much. His dad's only goal in life is to keep him winning and keep him with the title, which is his job as the father, but it seems every time they pick up a big win that they are then entitled to fight who they want for the next 2 years. Its even more annoying that Al Haymon helps facilitate this! I want to see Garcia fight a top fighter in his prime already, the kid is 28 years old its time to see him in with a killer!
Mayweather is gone but sadly, he left that fraud Haymon with us, who has now f*cked up American boxing scene royally.
Wrong. Haymon is boxing's savior because he put it on network TV for everyone to watch again. :lol1:
I only care about money if a fighter's team uses money to kill a fight, be it wanting too much or offering too little.
Unfortunately, like 90% of the fighters these days refuse to fight anyone unless they get way more money than they are worth, and fans let them get away with it.
I just wish fighters would actually take the risks and challenges needed to be great..They fight no name after no name and then ask for these great demands....It is sad
Agreed. Nobody wants to earn anything anymore. They want it given to them. Fighters used to come from Blue collar towns. Now China does are blue collar work.
Golivkin is not the one refusing.
Personally I don't have a problem with Jacobs getting 40%. But he already turned down 1.5 Million. Realistically, how much will this fight generate? If he turned down 1.5, do you think he'd settle for 2? I doubt it.
He turned down 2 Quillins. Whatever that is, it's a lot more than 1.5m
It's sad how many people care about money they will never touch.
These fukers need to get in the ring, I couldn't care less how much they get paid.
And neither should you.
Hey Larry... If Jacobs ultimately declines the fight because he wants more money, who will blame for the fight not happening?
I would blame them both..why?? because the fans would not be getting the best possible fight at 160 and they both would end up fighting some cab drivers and blaming each other while we sit here looking stupid once again
And this is coming from ggg fans who have the nerve to defend his mismatches...
Yea i noticed that..if you sh1t on Floyds comp then every current fighter is sh1t.. Ward-Kovalev is the only fight worth a damn right now for me...there is actually a risk being taken
wtf???
so these arnt challenges??
Pacquiao-p4p#2 wbo champ
Hatton-top 10 p4p
Mosley-p4p#3 wba champ
Canelo-top 10 p4p-wbc/wba/ring champ
Oscar-WBC champ
Cotto-WBA champ
It always amazes me how posters say sh1t like this but hope on the d1cks of fighters who are doing 100 percent less
The man was lineal champ in 2 divisions at once at the age of 37
And this is coming from ggg fans who have the nerve to defend his mismatches...
Well just like in society you hope to get paid fairly whether your a cleaner or a politician.
The gap between rich and poor is worrying. So we don't want a situation where one boxer takes advantage of anither.
GGG has an Incredible ability. If you want to see him showcase those skills you have to pay him to see it. Regardless of what gggs highest purse has been in past. He's been underpaid so far. Nelo will give GGG the purse GGG ability deserves.
I just wish fighters would actually take the risks and challenges needed to be great..They fight no name after no name and then ask for these great demands....It is sad
You talking Danny Jacobs?
