Calzaghe in a clear 9-3 or 8-4 type fight. Too much movement and punch output, once he started to slip the jab GGG would struggle to land much at all. Walking down Calzaghe winging punches never worked.
Why don't you slow it down and count each one then lol, clinching isn't scoring shots either and Bernard did more clinching than he did with trying to land effective punches.
The fight was a clear UD win for Joe who commanded the action for the majority of the fight apart from one fluke knock down Joe made adjustments and Bernard couldn't keep in the fight 116-111.
what adjustments? throw more punches that didn't land in order to trick the judges, trick the uninformed fans watching, and give fuel to biased people who lack a coherent argument? he was not landing clean punches. hopkins was. it was an easy fight to score. calzaghe tried to be aggressive but was missing(credit to hopkins defense) while hopkins timed him with clean shots. round after round the pattern held. this is just the "he tried hard" argument all over.
It was embarrassing, but he did that because he couldn't fight at a high tempo at 43. But he still landed the better punches, even though he threw less shots. Most of Joe's shots were completely ineffective.
Joe should have been at LHW much sooner than he was. He had to starve himself to make SMW. It wasn't hard for him to move up, he just didn't have to cut as much.
they weren't even landing. i'm not sure how "he needed a breather" a completely subjective comment translates into calzaghe wnning 7 rounds. do you go back and change the other rounds because you think he was tired?
It's a close one. But I'd favor GGG by about 60/40. I think it would be a 7-5 type UD in GGG's favor. Calzaghe's speed and unorthodox style would give him tons of problems though.
Come on man, I was as big of a BHOP fan as anyone heading into that fight and I was embarrassed at how he had to fake low-blows and illegal punch damage in order to catch breathers because Joe was too much for him. He talked all that garbage pre-fight then got beaten by the guy moving up in weight.

They are both each other's nightmare. While Joe is way too fast and busy for Gennady s liking, i'm not sure if any of his punches would bother GGG. Really intriguing match-up.

Like I've said, it was mostly quality vs quantity.
I could never put a lot of value into cuffing, ineffective shots, where he concentrated more on volume rather than accuracy.
Even Enzo was convinced Bernard had won.
He couldn't believe it when the result came in.

I think you're a troll for thinking Ward could beat Joe Calzaghe see how that one works.
I would have viewed it as a genuine 50/50 fight.
Joe could have won a UD on volume and workrate.
Andre could have won a UD based on cleaner, more effective shots.
Joe would not have beaten him easily.
He's fought two guys in his career who were roughly the same size as Andre, and who like Andre, lacked huge power and who could fight really ugly at times:
Bernard Hopkins and Sakio Bika.
He struggled in both of those fights.
Although Andre can fight dirty at times, skill-wise, he's obviously on another level to Bika.
At 32 years age (or whichever version of him you chose) he wouldn't tire and look for breaks like how Bernard did at 43. Had Bernard not tired, that could have been a different fight altogether. I hated Bernard's tactics. They were ugly and horrible. But he needed to do it because he didn't have the stamina.
Joe also struggled with Robin Reid.
It's just a fantasy to say that Joe would have beaten him easily.
Like I said previously, you're either trolling or you have zero knowledge.
That's because you don't know what you're watching.
There's nothing great about a guy throwing a barrage of cuffing shots where only 1 out of 10 lands.
It's not the amateurs.
Compubox is just a bunch of statistics.
Statistics don't allow for circumstances.

I can't be bothered with you.
I don't think you're genuine.
I think you're a troll.
I've read a number of your posts.
No genuine boxing fan who possessed even an ounce of knowledge could be as stupid as you.

Ward has never fought anyone as good as Joe Calzaghe, it'd be easy work for Joe he'd outwork lazy Ward who's only real hope would be to clinch all night long but we all seen what happened to a better version of Ward when he fought Joe Calzaghe.
