Boxing really needs a low blow, these fighters are all going crazy wanting millions without facing the best, when the purses starts to go down, these guys will become tougher. Good they are real FIGHTERS like Salido or Farmer that keep themselves sharp. take a look at salido's last 5 fights, crazy. and this guys complain lol

Championship level fighters are making, what 50 times as much as the average income and still complaining? **** him, strip him, send his ass back to fighting TBAs. Boxers aren't degree holders nor do they ever have any other profession other than boxing, boxing is a fulltime job and u only have 1/3 of your life to make enough money to make sure that u have enough money in the other 2/3s. u need these big paydays and you have to make investments. Question here is : Does Gary Russel generate enough money/viewership to justify him getting that kind of money? He himself said that boxing is business, well if it is a business then u have to give ur employer reasons to pay u wat u wanna get paid, nobody is in the business to take a loss. these fighters today absolutely suck at promoting themselves and bring nothing to the table outside of the ring, very few self promoters in the game today and that's what's really hurting the sport, even so more than mismatches.

Fighters have to be taken care of etc. Then they're happy to beat up some hopelessly overmatched guy getting paid peanuts. It is fucking disgusting. But at the end of the day the system is a disaster and this sort of bullshit Russell is spouting is merely enabled by it. It is far from the root cause. Russell will stop sitting on his ass, waiting for ridiculous money once that strategy stops working. As a fan you just have to pray that someday the sport corrects itself and a guy on Russell's level looking to take one semi-serious fight every two years will starve. That, and only that, will fix the sport. Pretty sure we agreed on this before. Boxing needs to face a harsh reality if it has any chance of rebounding. It would be very tough for the sport and it's possible that no one is willing to face that reality, but no one will be able to afford this crap eventually. The sport will either revert to the old days of a lot more fights for a lot less money or it will fail entirely.

I could care less when or if Gary Russell Jr. returns to the ring. He has fought one quality fighter in his entire career and Russell lost to him. If I had my way, I would put Russell, Adrien Broner and Peter Quillen's careers on the DNR (do not resuscitate) list. Great post. Couldn't have put it any better.

I just want to see these Featherweights fight each other. I think Russell can beat most of them. I'm sure he'll make good money fighting them. I don't know what he wants. Just by asking for a higher purse could potentially make him sit out and earn $0. Great freaking idea.

That pep talk that Haymon has given to all his fighters that he said he would make them stars and rich worked to well Now you have a legion of fighters that think that they are worth more than the are actually valued. If he wants to get paid more he has to take riskier fighters and top guys. He has skills but is also the king to the TBA fighters
