Errol Spence is special offensively, if you watch the way he puts punches together, his combinations, his ability to go to the body and then up top, he's amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHq64tamnXo
But he doesn't have the abnormal power to make up for his defensive lapses like GGG and I won't be surprised if he gets knocked out in the near future.
Stop making these STUPID ASS Comparison just because you want to discredit one of them. Both are extremely talented fighters and yes both have Flaws but their Talent stands out a lot more than their Flaws
Both fighters flaws are very fixable! Moving their head move is not difficult. GGG fought smart vs Lemieux because Lemieux is probably the hardest puncher he has faced so far, same with Stevens. Where was the Boxing Defense Police for those fights? I think both kinda fight up and down to their competition. Yeah they eat some punches to get their punches off because they know their punches will do a lot more damage than their opponents will

You know it will eventually happens will see how long he stays on the bum train
Spence will become more and more of a boxer when he becomes the face of the sport.
If you remember, Mayweather also used to get into these shooting matches earlier in his career when he was tryna get the fans on his side. He even prefered Roger over Floyd snr because of exactly that, and then later re-introduced his dad again.
Even Spence's coach said that he made Spence focus on the body and getting on the inside more when he turned pro in order to get the KO's, and obviously they wanted the KO's coz KOs coz fans love KOs.
Once his name and position is established, not saying he'll become Floyd but he will become more of his real self, which is a boxing virtuoso as opposed to the slug monster he is right now.
Yea, I think he'll have to. At the upper-levels, there's much less room for error. I questioned if he had the skill to, but I think he's cleared that up at this point.
I meant in terms of punching power. And they are decent just everyone is suddenly **** when Golovkin beats them
You changed what I responded to
I'm pretty sure that everyone around here, with the exception of GGG fanboys, called Lemule exactly what he is long before he got in the ring with GGG, a fuccking bum!
My boy? I've received no end of flack from the Spence bandwagon for questioning the guy. Sorry I don't fit into your stereotype.
Also, he's a Welter who makes weight. Why is it that hardcore golovkin apologists feel that everyone below 160lbs is somehow cheating on weight but everyone over 160 is just too damn big?
You're paranoid and sad if you though I was getting in a dig. Try ditching the bias for a day or two, it's very liberating. Honest evaluation does not a dig make.
Absolutely, I had even wrote something about the fan factor but deleted it to make the post a little more concise. It's very relevant though. I used to say Spence was just lacking in footwork but he proved me wrong against Bundu. So, one would conclude he's putting himself in danger to impress. In the case of the Bundu fight, where he has something like 6mil viewers, it's pays off brilliantly to take chances and level a rugged guy like that. Can that type of style catch up with you? Ask Pacquiao about that.
I don't make any judgments about what's right or wrong in that regard. If you're a super-talented boxer, do you want to go 49-0 or do you play with fire and become the fan's Fighter of the Decade? Both are absolutely respectable in my book.

Well Lemieux if you look at his resume, he's KO'd all cab drivers, bums, journeymen etc. Same with Stevens. If they had some stoppages against top level guys, I would agree. I didn't think either guy was good prior to fighting Golovkin. Lemieux had lost to old ass Alcine, and Marco Antonio Rubio. Stevens had lost to a dude from The Contender, who was a scrub himself, and also lost to the other near top level guys he faced like Dirrell, and N'Jikam. Golovkin's resume leaves a whole lot to be desired. But so does Lemieux's and Stevens'. Everybody can KO the bums. The real power punchers do it at the top level as well though.
Lemeiux? Stevens?
Journeymen competing as contenders in the weakest middleweight division of the last 80 years. Marco Antonio Rubio and N'Jikam must have granite chins as well, if Lemieux, and Stevens are your examples.
Spence should be at 154 but go ahead and get a dig in at GGG while not making a peep about your boy fighting guys much smaller than him like Bandu.

I agree, but that's what the fans want to see. You won't be a fan favorite and your fights will be labeled boring if you aren't offensive and don't exchange, ask Mayweather.
Spence is definitely way more fluid and agile, while Golovkin seems to a bit more robotic. Although there are differences I still think both of them are supremely talented offensive fighters

GGG also has a granite chin. Let's see about Spence's.
We don't know whether Golovkin's chin is granite or not, as he has never faced a top quality power punching middleweight.
I think Spence is the best welterweight in the world. His defense and chin both look good to me. He could get knocked out like any other boxer if he gets hit hard enough and often enough. I think he beats everybody at 147 and 154 if he outgrows 147. Canelo is just as good as Spence in my opinion but I think Canelo will be fighting at 160 soon. Andrade would be his hardest fight at 154 but I favor Spence to beat him. He is trying to fight the best but just like with GGG many of the best are avoiding him. Time will tell but I think nobody will beat him or knock him out.
Anyway what the hell is the point of this thread?
This is an errol spence thread. Was comparing him to GGG for reference. They both have defensive flaws and are offensively dynamic. Just because it works for GGG doesn't mean it will for Spence.
Why can't GGG move up and challenge himself??????
he should as well. I'm not a GGG fanboy lol. I don't buy into all his hype, but he does have heavy hands and he's a great offensive fighter. I think he gets hit too much as well. His power masks his flaws. Errol Spence's power probably won't do the same for him.
He should just move up because besides brook he's by far the biggest Welter. Fight someone your own size.
then he would have to work his way all the way up the rankings again in an entirely new weight class to get a title shot. That would be like starting over. If he wins the belts and unifies, he should go up. If he's a champion in the weight class below he would have more leverage and may be able to get a title shot quicker.
he definitely should go up and challenge himself if he is able to dominate the division

Not sure why we're comparing them. Is ggg going to be fighting more welters?
This "abnormal power" is a matter of a 160lb fighter applying good form and sitting down on his punches, like one would do on a heavy bag. The trade off is that he's face-first and susceptible to things like the uppercuts Kell hit him with. In fact, many guys have tagged him too easily. I think he could change this but, if he did, those punches would lose a lot of the weight behind them. He's seems to be fine doing what he does.
Spence tends to lean back a little and give himself the opportunity to slip punches, which he's good at when he applies it. Spence doesn't have the same defensive vulnerabilities as Golovkin. When Spence wants to move, the kid can move. What Spence's issue is, not respecting his opponents punches. I think this could lead to trouble. So far, he's not really faltered so I can't say much. But, against a sharp counter-puncher like Crawford, I think he'd be in a world of trouble if he tried getting into one of those flat footed exchanges he tends to get into. He's got too much skill to be doing that.
