I am asking a genuine question, because i have never even heard of anyone saying anything about UK ppv numbers before the GGG-Brook fight. I can't recall anyone mentioning the UK numbers for Floyd-Hatton or Manny-Hatton...what where the UK numbers for Canelo-Khan???
Yeah that makes sense. I always forget about the time difference. 1.4M for Mayweather-Hatton at 5am is all the more impressive then.
That's the biggest fights the UK has had in recent memory. As far as the casual audience is concerned.
Very impressive numbers. Mayweater missed the boat when he gave Hatton 100% of that revenue.
What I meant was HBO is a subscription channel and BoxNation is a subscription channel. Is Sky Sports a subscription channel or is it included with a cable package like for example ESPN in the US?
You are right about Mayweather-Pacquiao on Box Office. Still a lot of Mayweather fights were shown on subscription channels instead of PPV in the UK even though he was the most popular fighter in the sport and we had to pay $70-80 for his fights in the US.
Sky Sports are subscription channels yes. You have to pay for them seperately.
Mayweather's latter fights were on Boxnation solely because they were willing to pay more money for them. Pre 2012 before Boxnation existed his fights were on regular Sky Sports. The reason Mayweather and Pacquaio etc weren't on PPV is because the casual UK audience isn't going to stay up until 5 am to watch a fight that doesn't involve a fighter from the UK. So putting it on a PPV platform makes no sense. That's how Boxnation were easily able to outbid them.
Mayweather-Hatton did 1.4M. Hatton kept all the UK money, that's how he made a fortune on the fight.
It's also important to note that UK PPVs are about $20-25, in the US, PPVs they are typically $60-70.
The UK PPV scene is weird like that. They'll get Mayweather-Pacquiao on BoxNation (equivalent to regular HBO), but they'll have to pay for meaningless domestic fights that most boxing fans don't even care to watch.
Mayweather-Pacquaio was on Sky Sports Box Office (PPV)
Boxnation is not the eqiuvilent to regular HBO. The eqiuvilent to regular HBO would be regular Sky Sports.
Boxnation is a boxing subscription channel. They don't have a PPV channel.
The only PPV left in the UK is Sky Sports Box Office.
According to Eddie Hearn, Mayweather-Pacquaio was the biggest seller they've had, followed by Mayweather-Hatton which I believe was just under 1 million if I'm not mistaken.
I don't think Sky release their numbers.
Even if they were released that fight would have sold X amount because of Kell Brook.
I can't remember a fight between non-Brits that was on PPV over here.
Canelo vs Golovkin wouldn't be a PPV over here. It would be on subscription sky sports.
May/Pac
I believe Tyson fights in the 90s.
If I'm not mistaken, a couple of Oscar fights too but I can't remember fully.
But yeah, largely it's only Brit fighters that get on PPV.
I mean like I said, everyone has their moments, but he does know his boxing. Just because you might know more about boxing than him doesn't make it not true. I've both heard him speak on boxing, and have talked boxing with him on nsb radio enough times to where while I disagree with the guy often as well, he knows his stuff more often than not, certainly much more than many of these recent fans do and even many who have been around for a while. He is a Floyd homer but that doesn't take away from his overall knowledge.
You keep saying that but the guy thought Whitaker was a heayweight...and you claim he "has his moments"?
That's just ridiculous. That shows he doesn't know **** and just came on here as a **** sucker for Mayweather. He has probably evolved since then and learned a bit more but he still comes across as pretty basic to me.
Like I said, he's only good for entertainment value.

Would have been May vs Pac. But before that i have no idea.

If the majority on this forum don't know pernell wasnt a heavyweight then I'm worried even more than I was before.
Larry doesn't know ****.
But he is entertaining, especially when he says some **** then tries to cover it up :fingersx:

lmao about Sweet Pea.
He isn't a flawless boxing analyst, but he knows the sport and history of the sport more than a large percentage of this forum, and what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for in passion for boxing.

**** he is, he thought pernell whitaker was a heavyweight and I've schooled him on boxing issues so many times, the guy has a degree from the school of survivor.
Plus I think he is bipolar.

Dude you're late to the party. larryx is a legend on BoxingScene for a reason.
He's been in many wars and is undefeated like Mayweather. A history of excellence. A master of his art. A straight savage.
If you were around in 2013-14 you woulda heard NSB radio where Golovkin, larryx, ELBOSSHOGG, Derranged, Bringer, jas, and myself would talk boxing all night post fights.

Weren't those fights on sky sports or box nation? As in not PPV there?
I streamed the last 2 Canelo fights from regular sky sports channel I think...
Floyd/Manny/Hatton were all PPV.
Official numbers are not released by sky.
So all we have is this bs of Eddie Hearn to go on and no one believes that ****.
After tonight Larry I put you as P4P best poster :lol1: :lol1:
First blanco, second Freedom, now Golovkin
The kid is a little sh1t but fcukin hilarious watching you two go back and forth. I'm laughing my eyes out just imagining you saying those things in person LOL

Why is Golovkin (the poster) so concerned about GGG being a successful "white man"...isn't he Puerto Rican? :lol1:
I love me some Golovkin but when I look at him I don't see him as a typical white male. He's a foreign born mixed race Korean with some Russian ancestry. Him being a successful boxer doesn't mean whites are a master race lol.
