Based on the eye test, he has skills that could trouble GGG
the only question is how will his chin hold up or how tight he will be on defense
He is probably the most athletic middleweight since jermain taylor's era
He can get a little over aggressive but GGG will be coming to him
Definitely favor GGG, possibly by stoppage but with Jacobs speed and explosiveness he could clip GGG before danger.
how do you guys see it
^^^^exactly
people are obessed with power but it means nothing if you don't land and at the right time and place
Do you think Brook would've have made it to round 5 with Julian Jackson, Nigel Benn Or Gerald McClellan?
those guys were true one shot punchers.....GGG breaks you down and takes your heart...those guys sent you to another dimension
If Jacobs hit him, will ggg be exposed? Or nah?
I see GGGgoing back to the jab, cut the ring off and left hooks to the body all night...we all know the outcome.
and overrating GGG's power
yes he damaged Brooks eye socket, but he wasn't dropped, buzzed or on queer street
Also he doesn't have many 1 punch kos...he usually breaks you down, no name or contender.
^^^^exactly
He could trouble GGG and probably give him fits. Jacobs already beat cancer so he can beat GGG.
The only problem is with the GGG haters saying that "oh finally lil' G is fighting someone with a pulse/power/speed" before the fight. Then after the fight if GGG wins, they'll go "lil' G hasn't fought nobody yet. He has to move up and fight Ward at 175."
thanks bro
true but lets not forget, Leonard was no old used up fighter...sure he wasn't as finely tuned as he was when he was more active, but his chin and recovery powers were still top notch
he got caught with a shot he didn't see and that's all it takes
sometimes people forget the guy they like or root for will be getting hit too....Jacobs isn't exactly Malignaggi at 160.
GGG is susceptible to uppercuts and 3,2 combos....if he gets hit with something he isn't braced for how will he react
I think some are overestimating GGG's chin and
which hasn't been tested by a bunch of huge punchers.
Good Point, totally agree...do not take Jacobs lightly.
And GGs defense.
Neither guy I'd describe as a defensive dynamo.
Two punchers who can crack and dont care much for covering up - sounds like a good night of boxing. :boxing:
^^^this idgaf who wins
as long as we get a middleweight fight that reminds us of the wars of the 90s and 80s......Toney vs McCallum vs Julian Jackson vs McClellan vs Benn vs Eubank
man I wish I was an adult already back then...I saw a few of them fight live and prime but man.....youtube just isn't the same as live drama

all it takes is one punch , folks, but it better be early or Jacobs is getting hammered. Same goes for Saunders and Eubank jr. The only "Middleweight " with a chance is Canelo because he can counter with power. However he has like a 33% chance. The others like 10% for Jacobs, 1% for Saunders and Like 5% for Eubank , because he is a little harder hitter than Saunders.
I don't really think Jacobs hits that hard. He seems to stun guys and the flurry until the ref stops it most the time. But up until that point few of his opponents have shown the kind of fear or respect of his power that they show of GGG's.
I tried to look up Daniel Jacobs KO highlights. The only real KO's I could find were ver no hope cans in 6 and 8 rounders.
His power seems to me more like a De La Hoya power, where can buzz you and he knows if he just starts throwing non stop, the ref will step in.
Its not like GGG where refs are stepping in because of a prolonged beating, or guys are quitting, or just getting sparked out.
Whether it's a mismatch or not fight was mandated by WBA. Just like Spence vs Bundu was by the IBF. It was a mismatch, yet I heard cricket from the demographic.
RealPugilist,
I always enjoy your post. I just want to point out to all the boxing fans here, in case they didn't know, yes kevin Howard did accomplish something that Duran,Hagler & Hearns were not able to do, and that was to drop Sugar Ray on his A$$. But truth to the matter Leonard was to just coming off of a long layoff, his 1st retirement due to the detatch retina he suffered in his eye.:boxing:
thanks bro

people are overselling the weakness of Daniel Jacobs' chin

I don't think so. His career has been carefully managed. Most of his stoppages have be not so impressive such as the quillen stoppage.
That you need 2 fights to convincingly win of Sergio Mora says quite a bit.

kevin howard dropped Ray Leonard....Hearns, Hagler, Duran others didn't
its not about the reputation or the kayo ratio...its about the timing, placement and accuracy of the punch
but I feel you, I get that feeling whoever makes the first mistake, its lights out

GGG has a granite chin until he gets put on queer street. If anyone at MW can do it , its Danny.
Something often overlooked: GG is not some hit-n-not-get-hit type pf fighter. He is going toe to toe and that puts him at just as much risk as Danny. Take enough hits to the chin, eventually it will crack.
I like Golden Childs chances but if GG wins it will be very impressive. It was damn impressive when Pirog did it, if GG can do it too then i give him the same credit.
Danny's the 'Miracle Man' now, in case you hadn't heard. I'd make some pun about him needing to be for Golovkin but I actually give him an OK chance. Still have GGG as the hot favourite but I think Danny has as good a chance as anyone at 160 of the upset, even though I rate Saunders as a better boxer.
Jacobs has no advantages besides speed and height, which won't matter since he's a puncher. Golovkin has the power, chin, and skill advantage.
Jacobs may be able to stop him, but it's really hard to make the case that he stops Golovkin before vice versa. I think GGG wins and pretty easily.
I pretty much agree with everything here. Jacobs will probably have brief success but when the bombs come back at him I don't see him surviving.

very true. conn damn near beat up joe. just saying i dont think djs chin is as solid as srl and 1 mistake will be all 3g needs.
the flipside is 3g better not let dj get off free shots either. judges need not show up for this one.
of course his chin isn't as solid as Leonard but fighters get dropped by lesser fighters or perceived non punchers quite often
some people read into get knockdown....I look at it from a different perspective....do they get up, and what do they do about it
Guys like Juan Manuel Marquez, Floyd Patterson, Diego Corrales, could be hurt, dropped or stunned, but mentally they didn't pack it in.
I don't think I've seen Jacobs pack it in.....pirog just blitzed him, couldn't recover..it happens
What is GGG gonna do when he fights someone that matches his punch for punch and can either evade or take his best shots.
we know Jacobs can be hurt and get up but also, outside of Lemieux who was top ten and Stevens who was also but never really beat a world ranked middleweight, who has GGG faced that was in the top ten that had legit power?
We don't know how he'll react when he gets hurt, dropped, etc.
there is a lot about GGG that is unknown
