Shane Mosley: A washed-up WW far beyond his best years. Canelo couldn't even knock him out.
Austin Trout: A solid fighter (not elite) who gave Canelo hell. Could even argue that Trout won this fight, it was very close.
Floyd Mayweather: Best opponent on his list, but doesn't really count as Canelo got schooled and barely did anything in the fight.
Alfredo Angulo: Hand-picked to make Canelo look good in his comeback fight. Angulo was not even a contender.
James Kirkland: Same case as Angulo. Picked a fighter who is tailor-made for Canelo. Kirkland had power, no skills, not an elite fighter.
Erislandy Lara: Great fighter, who made Canelo look silly. Many (inlcuding myself) believe Lara won this fight.
Miguel Cotto: Way past his prime. A blown-up WW & could not even get a KO.
Amir Khan - A chinny WW with no chin and no power. Not even an elite fighter.
Liam Smith - Who?????
As you can see, the legitimate names on his resume are Trout, Lara and Floyd. Everyone else is either a no-name, undersized or way past their primes.

I'm not looking at their's I'm looking at his!
I don't like what they did with Kirkland. They took advantage of the kids situation and caught him totally unprepared. He took the fight but thats what the guys do who don't have "money" behind them.
Kirkland with proper time to get ready might actually give Canelo a decent challenge.
I doubt you'll ever see a match up with anyone that could move laterally and maintain that approach while working a high punch rate for the duration. Canelo is much better with someone who steps to him, I don't like him having move forward throughout a fight unless the opponent can't punch.
They've done a good job right from the beginning building this kid up!
I'd like to see Thurman in with him. I think Thurman can frustrate him with his awkward boxing style if he boxes on the outside which he would.
Make Canelo step forward.

His record is very weak, he has competitors on there with decent records but they were mostly regional guys who lost once they stepped up. His mid record competitors never achieved a thing.
He was to young to compete with Mayweather but that was Floyd cherry picking a kid he knew didn't have the aggression to come after him.
Trout & Lara are good competitors but thats it. His management stayed with "safe" fights now for a long time.
Everyone asks GGG to step up but this kid fights as a super middleweight and has safe fights forever. He did well with Cotto but Cotto has no power and none of his other opponents do either.
He'll make the correct money move to GGG and 160! He'll cash in there as long as he can but I also think he retires pretty early.
He'll have a boat load of money and will retire and enjoy it long before he has any consistent damage done to himself. At least I hope so, nice kid!

its not weak when you look at GGGs, Keith Thurmans, Wilder, Mikey Garcia, Lomachenko, Brook, DeGale, Linares, Russell Jr. and a host of other hyped guys
Canelo is NOT well liked but his resume craps on more beloved and hyped fighters.

Meanwhile you are running rampant and butt hurt because GGG is so highly regarded by many fans and respected boxing experts. GGG has a good resume. It's only a crap resume to unreasonable, unfair bias GGG haters like you.You say his next fight will be against a no hoper. I say his next fight will be against champion Jacobs or champion Saunders and I'll bet you any or all of your points against an equal number of mine on that. If I knew you in person and lived near you I'd offer you a cash bet. PM me if you want to put your points where your mouth is and we can set up a bet. I know points aren't worth anything but I just want to prove you wrong because you are completely wrong about GGG.

no need for a rebuttal bro
GGG don't take risks......Canelo is a pup and has a better resume than your boy
deal with it
all you have is fluff and excuses, while guys like Ward, Kov, Chocolatito are making moves, taking risks, you are left hoping GGG finally fights someone with a pulse to save face.
imagine if Ward was fighting BJS or Danny Jacobs....that's exactly what the circus show GGG vs brook was.
I agree but disagree. His resume, the actual names on it, is excellent. On paper, it's absolutely excellent resume, especially considering how young he is.
I have a problem with his resume because of Canelo himself. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Canelo is ALWAYS bigger than his opponent. The rehydration game he perfected is the reason he's not on anyone's P4P list.
Exagerrating a bit, but imagine if Glowacki or Lebedev beat Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev and Stevenson.
These GGG fans are running rampant and butt hurt because other fighters are making moves and taking big fights while they are stuck, yet again, making excuses why GGG has a crap resume and is supposed to be the best at 160 and a toP 3 p4p guy
dUDE literally has the worse resume of any fighter to be considered top3 p4pMeanwhile you are running rampant and butt hurt because GGG is so highly regarded by many fans and respected boxing experts. That's a damn good resume and you desperately trying to turn it into a poor one. Lara made himself look foolish by running away all fight like a scared rabbit. The majority of fans and experts thought Canelo deserved to win a close fight by chasing Lara and landing the harder blows while coming forward. It's mainly Canelo haters like you who insist Lara won. Only the most extreme Canelo haters try to say he lost to Trout. Trout himself said Canelo beat him. Smith was a reigning world champion. Canelo is high up on the top 10 best pound for pound lists of many respected boxing places like Boxrec, ESPN, Ring magazine, HBO,Boxing Scene and others. Strangely enough they all think he has a good resume. Keep on hating while Canelo keeps on winning and making the big bucks that very good, and very exciting fighters sometimes do.
Don't hate the player, hate the game. Canelo took risky fights and has earned his spot in the game. He is now the one that can call the shots and dictate terms.
Trout was as big a risk as any fighter has taken in the last decade or more. He loses that fight then no Floyd fight and he is in a much different position.
He had a chance to be an ODL type star had he beaten Floyd. He came up short but raised his stock and built himself back up just as he is entering his physical prime.
You can pick apart any fighters resume in hindsight.
Mayweather's fights against Ortiz, Guerrero, Maidana, and others won't look as good 10 years from now but were solid fights at the time he took them....damn now I am defending Floyd. Time to log off for the night.
The only thing he came up short with against Floyd was on the judges scorecards. Other than that he was totally useless in the fight.
WTF is going on around here?

Gennady Gonad Garglers..... if you left a comment trashing Canelo's resume when your hero has the resume of a fighter in his mid 20s, not a top 3 p4p, well you need to shoot yourself in the head and lay off the sauce :trink26:
no room to talk!!!!
It's a good resume, but it's highly overstated, and more so by the day because Golovkin-Alvarez is turning into Mayweather-Pacquiao part II.
If people were honest, they would acknowledge that his record is no better than Erislandy Lara's, yet no one says Lara is a p4p fighter.
It's not great, but it's good. I sometimes check the names on it and think that there's not too much on there. But then i think about most of the other fighters around, even the P4P guys, and theirs isn't particularly stacked with name after name either. I think it's alright for right now.
Canelo is a ***** in my book for avoiding ggg and using some of the worst logic for why the fights isn't happening or shouldn't happen. His fans and people with some weird Internet forum agendas are eating that **** up.
But he has one of the best resumes of any fighter under 30 and one of the best resumes period. Yes some of his wins haven't been convincing but he won none the less.
Its much much better than good ole paper champ vacant title kinged plastic nosed atg Froch though he doesn't have the single big win aver atgs like bute, abraham or never mind the killer goat Porter

he had 4 real opponents(Trout-Mayweather-Lara-Cotto) and underperformed in all of those fights, losing 12-0 in one and having close fights in all 3 wins(particularly with Lara, who was the better fighter and really beat himself). He's good, and has a chance against Golvkin and has fought 4 opponents that are superior to most of the opposition of other fighters, but the way people count fighters like Angulo-Mosley-Kirkland-Khan as part of his "great resume" is laughable, especially considering the way they say these fighters are better than GGG's resume. :lol1: now Smith will be added to that list for being a paper champ, even though in Canelo's own words "we don't fight for belts"
Everything you are saying is what's wrong with boxing. I guarantee you if Canelo and GoldenBoy knew what they know now they would have never left Showtime and signed with HBO. Doing that in itself has made Golovkin a perfectly viable opponent. Also, Canelo can't be acting all modest and I'm just a greenhorn attitude. He is billed and sold as the next best thing and the face of boxing. Canelo is in his prime while Golovkin is teetering on old age and the twilight years of his career. Leonard didn't win the 160 lineal and then immediately vacate. Neither was he a natural 160lber. Canelo clearly has trouble making 154 and rehydrates more than Golovkin. This is just the prefaces of this whole sham. Stardom isn't easy especially when you mix it with professional sports. You have to defend your placement in sports especially boxing. Time is ticking though. Canelo isn't doing his family name and legacy any favors
No everything I'm saying is how boxing always worked, just wasn't any social media and boxing forums for fans to vent their frustrations about waiting for Leonard vs Hagler or Hearns vs Hagler all those fights took time to make! Hearns vs Hagler was suppose to happen in 1982 but was canceled due to Hearns injury. That fight would not happen until 1985! Was it worth the wait Absolutely! So I'm just saying I think fans are a bit entitled, especially Internet fans whom many I'm willing to bet don't buy any PPV's not even for the big fights that are worthy of buying but yet spend hours on here complaining about EVERYTHING!
