1.canelo doesnt fight well going backwards
2. Canelos power is overated as seen tonight and in the cotto fight
3. Canelo is easily touched and has leaky defense.
4. Canelo doesnt jab enough and doesnt defend the jab well.
5. Smith showed canelo isnt on GGG level
I think its safe to say canelo wont even be competitive with GGGl
GGG won't be able to outbox Canelo. Canelo would catch up with him and end his night. As I see it Canelo has too much power combined with accuracy for GGG to deal with. Knockout 10th round.
Canelo has over a decade left in him if he so chooses, GGG has what ? A few years tops. For the greater good of the sport I'd prefer Canelo avoided GGG and gave us fights like last night for another ten years, ok it was a little one sided but their are a ton of fights I'd love to see him in rather than face GGG, ie Lemiuex that'd be fight of the year fight there, competitive well matched action.
GGG for the fans should move up.
It can be. Think about how khan being faster with hands makes him defensi irresponsible.
Canelo is less crafty and has less speed than brook. GGG will get to him more often. Canelo is screwed if he fights GGG. Canelos foot speed isnt much faster than GGG's imo
I think you're misreading what he said. I'm pretty sure he said GGG has faster foot speed than Canelo. Golovkin is better on his feet.
I honestly think brook beats smith up rather easily. Smith was literally a tune up holding a abc belt. I can honestly see why canelo is avoiding guys like jermell charlo and julian
Williams and andrade.
Canelo is on borrowed time
this is 100% accurate.
Canelo would be blowing out of his arse after a few rounds having been made to work every second with the mental fatigue that GGG puts on you and not take the rest spells that he loves. There's no way he wouldn't have times where he would be up against the ropes - Smith threw a couple of feints and was catching Canelo clean. GGG is the master of feinting and touching one shot then blasting the next. He gives GGG trouble at times but I honestly can't see him lasting 6 with his style. Keep getting flashbacks of Jose Cotto having him in all sorts of trouble.
Who has GGG beat? What A level opposition has he faced to even compare him to Canelo? One moron was like but GGG has a better plus minus record... well I guess so when Canelo is fighting the Floyd Mayweathers, Erislandy Laras, Miguel Cottos, etc... and GGG is fighting the Dominic Wades, Willie Monroes, and David Lemieuxs . I mean seriously guys . You fall into the HBO hype way too much. The same people swore up and down that Floyd had no chance against #48 and what happened there? Always falling in love with power and the HBO hype train. You'll label a fighter a cherry picker while wearing blinders on your favorite hype jobs carefully matched cherry picked fights.
Until GGG fights someone of substance he's not invincible and CAN be beat. We won't know until they fight if it happens. GGG and his team will probably price themselves out or not make concessions to make the fight happen. I would've dropped the WBC belt too instead of paying a ridiculous purse bid to a chump that drew 97k ppv buys too if I was Canelo... it was the smart thing to do. You don't pay somebody something that they aren't worth. Canelo is the A side and GGG draws no comparison, especially fighting mostly cans. Hopkins made concessions including weight to fight De La Hoya. Hell even Floyd made concessions to fight De La Hoya. GGG is not a star or a p4p fighter of the caliber that they were so he should make concessions to get the big fights that he says he wants. He's only been a hypocrite and businessman like he claims others are so far. Dey be duckin' him doe.
Some of you think Brook is better than Canelo lol... well if Brook is supposedly better, why would you want to see him fight GGG then? Don't you want GGG tested? I see the fight as 50/50 and will be rooting for Canelo to end the hype train. I'm no Canelo fan either.
I'm a GGG fan but I can't agree with you. Canelo looked great last night, his hand speed and body punching could give anyone issues at this point... I'd pick GGG but I think it will be a hell,of a fight and if GGG doesn't KO him I give Canelo a shot for the decision...
Canelo beat a feather fisted domestic fighter last night. It was supposed to be easier than it was. Smith is c minus level man. Thats the truth.
Khan and brook beat smith at 154.
GGG would fight a whole other way vs canelo. He would put smart pressure and fight behind his jab anc set up his left hook to the body. He would press canelo back . He would make canelo fight a consistent pace. Canelo wouldnt handle that well.
i don't agree. save for power i can't designate what it is that GGG does better.
He has more power, a better jab, and cuts off the ring much better...
Canelo is faster and has better defense....

I think all the guys you mentioned beat cotto and give canelo a good fight. I think monroe beats canelo.
GGG had the superior jab. Canelo is a quick footed brook with craft. Canelo didnt have all this so called power vs a past it cotto. Canelo also fights guys with limited power.
Smith got dominated but you could see at time he was able to pressure canelo on the ropes ,what do you think is going to happen when golovkin does the same. Canelo will just get bullied into the ropes and try his best floyd impression only this time it wont work and he will get beaten badly.
The way I see it, Canelo is going to look excellent the first 4-5 rounds. GGG's pressure will tire him because he won't be able to fight his pace and as soon as Canelo stays in the ropes, the fight will turn. I will be a good fight regardless. I always thought GGG would destroy Canelo but as of lately, I think Canelo gives him a tough fight in a losing effort.
What the hell? None of this sh1t is true.
He knocked down SMith from 1 shot punches twice which show he has insane power.
He fought off the back foot most of the time, landing 10% more punches than Smith.
His jab is world class level and there are multiple videos on youtube that analyze it.
Please stop. This sh1t is retarded. Last week, Golovkin got 'exposed', now this week Canelo's not on Golovkin's level despite absolutely dominant performance over Smith.

GGG is a 160 division fighter. He is not your catchweight diva.
Yes, Canelo has fought Cotto and Floyd, because they are smaller than him, but that doesnt prove anything. GGG is much bigger and stronger guy than anyone canelo has faced and nelo would be just another GGGs KO victory.
Apart from power Canelo is better than Golovkin in every department.
Golovkin has better footwork and actually knows how to cut a ring off. Probably won't need to do that against Canelo though as Canelo doesn't move much.
Probably a better chin too. Can't imagine GGG being put on queer street by Cotto's journeyman brother.
Canelo's defence is underrated though. Smith did get through with a few but Canelo makes it very difficult to land flush. Very good upper body and head movement. He needs it though with his slow feet.
In general though, i just can't see how Canelo can beat Golovkin. It will be competitive to a certain degree but i think Golovkin will find holes in Canelo and hurt him. Canelo will definitely have his moments.
The only thing clear about watching the last fights of both men is that the fight, should it happen, will be a lot more competitive than fans of lil g want to admit.
No question in my mind now that had lil g gone down to 155, Canelo would have destroyed him.
And if lil g had issues with the fast hands and power of a welterweight (see round 2 of the Brook fight) he is going to have even more issues with the fast hands and power of Canelo, even at 160.
Yeah...
I don't agree.
Canelo is the better fighter, its whether he can stand up to the power, I think he probably will. He gets hit with some shots, but he doesn't get hit with mammoth knockout silly shots that he doesn't see, and that is a big difference.
After this fight, I think people like you will ask yourself why you ever thought Golovkin would win. If I had to sum him up in a sentence I would say he is a limited, but good boxer, with ATG power.
The one thing I agree with you is that he does have a great jab, its seems the higher the level he goes the more important his jab becomes. It was pretty much the only punch which was working for him against Brook and did all the damage.
