I think canelo is waiting for age to catch up to GGG before he fights him.
Next year it will be excuses
1. GGG wants to much money
Excuses excuses
I see right through the tactics being used.
Hardcore fans are being slit on again , the casual will still buy and watch a young canelo take on an older slower GGG .
Whats wrong with being felix sturm. If GGG was smart he would just go fight in germany , making sturm money .
nothing if you want your legacy to be like Sturms.
Saul Alvarez is making 154lbs and, with the final press obligations underway, Alvarez is looking like he's making the weight rather comfortably still, at al of 26 years old.
He likely keeps making the weight comfortably for another 12-18 months, before physically needing to move up.
Beyond that, Golovkin DOES want too much money; he's already preemptively called $3m a **** offer (after refusing to engage with a Ward fight or possible Lara fight over whispers about the fight costing too much to make).
nice try though
155 != 154 mate
You should hold judgement till today's weigh in.
Canelo didnt do much more vs khan. It seems as if canelo needs a dance partner like mayweather and cotto to do respectable numbers.
... Canelo-Khan apparently did 600k PPV buys ... that's pretty respectable in my opinion
I wouldn't say comfortably, from what I understand it is incredibly difficult for him to get down but he has found a way to do it. I don't think it will be easy at all for him to drop that extra pound today.
Simply going off of the eyeball test; Alvarez was walking around for press week, engaging with the fans, looked to be already on weight, and didn't look like utter **** (eyes weren't sunken, he didn't seem to be on edge about anything, etc).
We'll see what he looks like on the scales this afternoon, but my guess is that he'll likely look dry, but still ok.
for a fight that will generate atleast 2 mil ppv buys 3 million is a joke for the champion, besides money was never the issue it could always be worked out but there wasnt any negotiation to begin with.
The fact that you think that Alvarez-Golovkin is going to generate 2m PPV buys is a joke.
Cotto-Alvarez ended up doing 900k PPV buys, and Golovkin brings nothing to the table that would even suggest that he could help get to even that number (there's not some massive Kazakh fanbase to undergird the PPV, his live business isn't monster, and the TV audience has failed to continue to grow with him).
If K2 is thinking anything like you're suggestion, there's no need to even have negotiations because things won't lead anywhere
you're right but again if g string can't land a fight with Canelo, the only fight that would make him serious money and make his career legacy anything special would be the winner of Ward/Kov

Money doesnt equal legacy.

g string doesn't have to move up, but if he can't land a fight with Canelo it will be his only option to make serious money and have any semblance of a note worthy legacy.
Money doesnt equal legacy.
Canelo doesn't need a dancer partner half as much as GGG does....that's for damn sure.
Canelo will always outsell GGG.
A-side is Alvarez...plus he's younger with the better resume.
Good points. Game, set, match. Nuff said and end thread.
You were so outraged about GGG fighting a huge welterweight champion. Now you think GGG who make 160 easy as pie and is a medium or small old middleweight should go up to 175 to fight the best light heavyweight in the world. Nice double standard.I'll take a wild guess that GGG is a boxer you don't like much and Ward is a favorite of yours. So you would like GGG to spot Ward 15 pounds of weight and 3 years of age.

That's what Kel Brook just did.
Why can't the great Golovkin????
Kell is 5'9..you gotta be a dwarf to call that huge.
He's a career WW....stop spinning it.
Brooks promoter was trying to get paid. He had eubank jr lined up until eubank sr asked for double. Hearn got brook to take the same amount offered to eubank jr .
All this after saunders jacobs and eubank jr found a way not to fight GGG again along with canelo ducking.
Brook became a glorified tune up/stay busy fight.
Hell if Canelo chooses to not fight him then oh well...GGG will have to go elsewhere and fight better comp....He should look to fight the Ward-Kovalev winnerYou were so outraged about GGG fighting a huge welterweight champion. Canelo is the bigger star and bigger earner.
97k...Alvarez can do better than that shaving on PPV.:lol1:
Don't matter, nelo is underdog. Gig don't need to improve resume to fight melody.
