I don't think people understand the meaning of Greatness in boxing. It's not about who would win H2H, it's about who has accomplished more. Khan at 140 has done more work than Brook, hence making him a better fighter.
140 isn't the only division that counts though.

Even if you consider both fighters average one can still be considered greater, unless you truly rate both fighters dead even, but then that's what this thread is all about lol.
Good point. I certainly don't rate them dead even - Brook in 3 or 4.
BUT, it's boxing - punchers chance and all..
Different context - but I fully get where you're coming from. I like your view.
Maybe I'm best wording it as - both fighters are average.
But if I had to pick..uhmm..Brook. Showed some guts. Khan is just a chinny mess.

That's not true though. 2 is greater than 1, but 2 isn't "great" with so many other numbers above it.

For one to be greater, either of them would have to be great.
Neither of them are great - so why isn't "neither" a poll option?

Time specific;
Carl Froch became WBC mandatory in April 2008
Joe Calzaghe fought Roy Jones in Novmeber 2008
Not bothered really. Just pointing out he fought all of his other sh*tty mandatories but not when it came to Froch.
Froch would be a problem for any version of Calzaghe.
find it bizzaree how brook getting stopped in 5 rounds suddenly becomes concrete proof that he beats khan who got knocked out in 6 rounds. I thought khan was doing a lot lot better against canelo than brook did against GGG. Seems as if khan got no credit for it, but brooks got plenty of credit.
Khan did get credit for it.
No one was surprised though, many of us said that Khan would have success against Canelo if Canelo didn't stop him.
Less of us knew Brook would also do well, but I was also posting that Brook was going to give GGG problems until he got stopped for months before that fight.
Irregardless, "credit" for how you perform in a fight you lose, sometimes you can look into that, depending on the context, but what really matters is that it was still a loss. You can't get a W for being up on the cards in a loss, etc. People need to stop reaching for moral victories. I hate reading "so and so was winning before the stoppage" like that means something. It means nothing more than it was a good fight.
So time specific,
Joe Calzaghe:

I don't think you're right on this one you know Carl Froch said It would have meant everything to fight on the grand stage of MGM Grand I wonder If he would have turned down that likelihood of a fight there with a legend of the game to instead fight James DeGale in rainy ole England :) but that's just my opinion, Carl wasn't worth the merit to come back down to 168.

No,,, he didn't have only one fight at 175.. He beat hopkins for the belts and then defended vs roy
When he vacated his WBC title he had had one fight at 175 lbs.
No, the Roy Jones fight hadn't happened yet.
He vacated his title and then fought Roy Jones because everyone wanted to see that amazing match up.
