What fights did a guy kill himself to make weight and still pull off a W?
I dont mean mismatches like Mikey vs Juanma or Rios vs Murray. I mean toss up fights like if Dawson would have beat Ward or DLH beat Pac.
Oscar vs Manny was the worst case of a drained fighter Ive seen in 50 yrs of following boxing , Manny out weighed him on fight night and Oscar could only gain 2 lbs from the weighin and needed IV fluids to do that , not Mannys fault but Oscar was a dead man walking .
About Hopkins DeLa Hoya . Hopkins routinely came into the ring at 158 ,157. Remember he said he could make 154. Kind of sounds like a hypocrite now doesn't he. When criticizing GGG, HE was pumping up His fighter Canelo.
I wouldn't count Hopkins as weight drained either.

rios vs murray takes the cake for me. dude was a f#cking zombie at 135. never seen a kid who gets that big fight at a weight that small. dude looked like a short, chubby middlewegiht. he'd put on 20 lbs in 30 hours! that's probably not even possible without diuretics and IV fluids.
he looked like utter garbage in the lead in and during the fight , but his opponent was so badly outmatched and undersized that he beat the living daylights out of him anyway
good examples of this phenomenon are usually modern fighters who cut a ton of weight. chavez, vs lee. mikey garcia vs roman martinez.
all good post but...

What are fights when a guy drained himself and then beat someone who is on they're level?

Cotto's career at 140.
another good call
Cotto looked so much better at 147
it pissed me off how they were feeding him former lightweights and jr lightweights when he was coming up
guys like Victoriano Sosa and Rocky Martinez
Cotto look dry, complexion faded, and protruding cheek bones at 140.
Yep, pretty much the downfall of his career. Think i seen another post about dropping weight this way reduces punch resistance. Maybe its true
It does as you are draining water from your whole body including your brain. It takes longer than 24 hours for that water to come back into your body fully therefore it puts you at greater risk of concussions. The UFC have been having earlier weigh-ins for a couple of weeks now and everyone seems to be happy about it. Before the weigh-ins would happen in the evening, now they happen in the morning which gives the fighter more time to rehydrate.
Lol, if you think it was 25+ lbs of muscle then you don't know how weight cutting as a professional athlete works. He had to eat/drink a lot to make the HW limit in the first place. He didn't have the natural body to be a HW. Once the fight was over, he would have started to drop weight naturally as he probably didn't consume as many calories to stay at the HW limit. Majority of that cut was water weight. He just cut a crazy amount in such a short period that I don't think his body was used to it and he looked really flat. Cutting that much weight at his age is never good.

yep. jones cut, at 35 or 36 years old like 25+ pounds of muscle.

Walters looked comfortable in the ring,no stamina issues which is a major sign of weight draining. Plus he rehydrated BIG.
I'd hardly label that as severely weight drained.

Walters looked like a starving Ethiopian child at the weigh in for Donaire. That was a high profile fight. I dont think he ever made 126 after that again either but I could be wrong.
