Deontay Wilder will need a third previously unknown procedure on his right hand to remove pins that will likely sideline him for the rest of 2016, Wilder told ******.com on Wednesday.
The heavyweight titleholder has had three procedures since he shattered his right hand and right biceps in his eighth-round stoppage of Chris Arreola on July 16, two on his right hand and one on his biceps. Wilder said in a phone interview that his hand will require one more surgery to remove pins that were inserted in his hand after the fight and that he said are still protruding from his hand. Wilder has been told the feeling of having the metal pins removed is the equivalent of having a tooth pulled.

Can't believe the hate in this thread, what the f*ck is wrong with some of you? This is his living and his health we are talking about.
I just hope this hasn't caused permanent damage that prematurely ends his career.
Hopefully Wilder will be forced to retire soon and the WBC will no longer be held hostage by this bum.
Povetkin vs Pulev/Parker and the winner faces the Fury/Wlad winner.
all a bit convenient for me, gives him an excuse to come back next year and fight bums as 'warm up fights'
I'm no Wilder fan but the notion that he faked his injury to avoid challenges isn't even ridiculous.
It's just ****ing stupid. Very stupid.
How bad did he hurt his hand before the fight!!? He looks to be grounded for good 3-4 months and then recuperation and then light training.. He seems to be out till early or mid next year.. I vaguely recall he had a hand injury post Stiverne fight does anyone know if he had a surgery post that!?
Dont expect Wilder to fight anyone of any signifigents til at least late 2017 possibly 2018.
This hand thing could turn into a real problem for the guy.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wilder is extremely active. His time off before Arreola is the longest downtime of his career. He'll be better with a little time off and a tuneup or two.
with that type of shattered hand, he needs to heal up, dont want to keep breaking them, remember his bicep also got torn up, he is a power puncher thats his bread and butter the layoff is needed
The way his bicep rolled up on his power hand, I dont know if his arm will even produce the same type of power.
Wilder has a very difficult challenge ahead of him. Hand injuries alone can end a fighter's career, now he has to worry about rehabbing a torn bicep as well. I know he probably has top notch medical care but I've torn a bicep before and it was never the same. If he makes it back to his old form it'll be a miracle......
Deontay has a frail body, probably not much calcium.
But his bones are tiny, you seen how skinny his ankles are? dude is walking on toothpicks, his bicep tear was scary, it rolled up during the fight.
If I were Deontay I would not fight again until the end of 2017 just to be sure my body is healed. Plus the rest will do him good, also he should focus more on his legs, and get rid of some of the bulking muscle up top focus on his legs.

The stupidity is pretty sickening here, by some. Why not just say Wilder will probably keep having surgeries he doesn't need for a few years straight so he can continue to duck Povetkin. Or, maybe Wilder will intentionally break his hand again to avoid top competition? :lame: Stop the stupid hate.

And i guess when he comes back he will need 2 or 3 tune ups. This guy is an absolute joke. Does anyone actually believe this jerk will face even ONE top class opponent before he retires?:lame::lame::lame::lame:
